+xWhat potential sponsors of the talked- about new "second tier competition " are going to want to risk associating themselves with the type of bad publicity that has engulfed the australia cup final ? Um ......... maybe one of uncle Frank's side hustles may need world wide exposure? Doesn't the weird long haired son have a music youtube channel or something similar?

+xSydney United needs to be banned from being part of the NSD for a minimum of 5 years. Football Australia needs to clamp down hard now before it starts. Zero tolerance for spreading hate and pushing old ethnic ideologies from 2-3 generations ago. https://twitter.com/AAFClubs/status/1576447545357651968?cxt=HHwWgMCiwZWs1eArAAAA

+x+x+xIt's a very fine balancing act. We want the noise and colour, but deep down, we all know these incidents are always a mere step away. So that leaves the FA in an invidious position. How do you encourage the noise and colour without these sorts of incidents arising every now and then, and knowing the MSM will be all over it. A fraught path to navigate I would have thought. No, This is not just anti-social behaviour, this is a problem with clubs like SU58, MK, CDfc, that have repeatedly suffered because of their fans and have at the same time have not been able to combat this problem effectively. Other Croat clubs have not had this problem to this extent that it needs to be sorted out in those club communities otherwise disbandment might have to be considered In this case it is one club that has caused the current problem. They have made it so so much harder for a 2nd Div to get major sponsorship. They need to be banned from the FA Cup and the 2nd Div for 2 years. Sets a standard. Solves a major problem. Makes a statement. While it was an FA Cup game and the FA would run a NSD it is a Football NSW team. Maybe along with an FA cup ban imposed by the FA , Football NSW should consider relegation to Football NSW League Two Men's. Football needs a NSD and these fools have put back the chances of that happening markedly.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/no-place-in-our-game-football-australia-criticises-fans-for-nazi-salutes-20221002-p5bmi0.htmlFootball Australia has criticised what it said was a “very small minority of fans” who were caught performing what appeared to be Nazi salutes and engaging in other anti-social behaviour during Saturday night’s Australia Cup final at CommBank Stadium.

+x+xI have been highlighting this for years.
The Sydney Croatia ( and Melbourne knights fans) were just given rope so they could hang themselves on an international stage.
The cro football mafia in aus is very quick to talk themselves up and keep that chip on their shoulder, but refuse to properly condemn the nazi/Ustashi core and widespread element of their supporters / community.
Croatians overseas are embarrassed by it.
Not just overseas mate. My dear old Croatian dad (RIP) used to hate these idiots with a passion. Hopefully this can lead to change and drastic steps, because there’s a lot of people like your old man in the community that are either fed up with that lot or had enough of them making them look like primitives.

+xSo, a club is accountable for the actions of its fans as per the FA regulations and the sanctions can include exclusion from a competition. Are the actions of some of the SU58 fans worthy of the club being excluded from the Australia Cup for a period of time? I saw in the FFA cup banners from knights fans referencing the Balkan war against Fitzroy (a Serb team). And chanting about the war. It’s absolutely cultural and to be honest pretty much the cultural identity of that large part of the diaspora here.
This nazi crap has been going on forever. They never learn and will act like everyone is out to get them. Happened at the tennis, when they book a nazi band at their social club etc
always the victims.

+xGreat game tonight showing what could be great and is possible in Australian football. Ruined (in part) by wannabe Nazis, disrespectful behaviour to the anthem and the welcome to country. Good stuff fellas, way to shoot yourselves in the foot. I happen to think the welcome to country thing is overdone but would never be a enough of a fucking idiot to boo it and for good measure throw in a Nazi salute. WTF?! And I say this as an Australian with a Croatian father. Just embarassing. Was so hopeful for this game and finished watching it disappointed for the future of football in Australia. No criticism of the Sydney 58 players, they were great, just the Neanderthals in the crowd. No wonder the FA is reluctant. As soon as FA/APL Finally accept that they are not football supporters, they are politicians with a strong message. Its generational, life bans to the one that cause the trouble, go away! I don't care about your message, Piss Off!

+xIt just amazes me that with a game that was so important to the image of the sport, the actions of a quite a few have essentially scored an own goal and will set us back further as a sport.
Like it or not, these kind of incidents are magnified by those that already have built a narrative about our sport, and to show such disrespect for this country and show facist behaviour like that is appalling. I am all for atmosphere and passion, but for all the noise, the actions of not just a few have brought to the fore some very worrying things that can’t easily be forgotten.
This was the sales window for a NSD and the game as a whole, but once again our game can be its own worst enemy.
Exactly, instead of everyone talking about the game, we talk about a few who want to continue their grand fathers fight in another land, so sad.

+x+x+x+xOk Footyball , you go and build a circa half a Billion dollar business from nothing in 15 years , since you say its such a " low bar " ... Half a billion dollar business that can't attract a buyer for 3 of its licenses? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH oh my sides...... Everyone has an owner except Newcastle Jets, however good or not so good (Roar), their owners are. A League is moving fwd very slowly. Bring on the NSD as well. Is PeRth GLoRY stiLL trying to sell to BitCoin Billionares? What about the McVictory shares? How are they sellling on the marketplace? IS CCM still up for a "grand sales, grand sale"? I would have thought a 1/2 billion dollar mls lite ponzi scheme would have savvy busine$$ people lined up aRound the block to buy in? ..... Didn't unclE Franky copy the franchise agreement paperwork correctly? Perth Glory have Andy Keogh's brother, a businessman who has bought into the club. Peil has virtually taken over from Charlesworth at the Mariners and Victory are a powerhouse at A League level. That Oakley are a great side, winner of NPL VIc. Big win this season. WU A League champs and Cannons NPL Vic champs. Good work by both clubs.

No wonder the FA is reluctant. this is probably fair - i personally think sport and everything else needs to fuck off welcome to country and all the other 1st nations bullshit but i kind of agree you should show some 'respect' to a degree overall goes to show there is 'talent' in the state league level need to line up the leagues and get a 2nd division going, probably need some stricter rules on behavior

+x+x+xThe two sticking points will tell who won the battle. Must be winter - if its in summer, the APL has won the battle, and it will always be a poor second cousin to the A League. Initially no APL youth teams - if they win promotion in their right, good on them, but no free tickets. If we have a winter competition with promotion and relegation, it will be the premier Australian football competition within 5 years, and the A League will die a natural death. This is the fear of the APL, and who can blame them for fighting the existential battle they have on their hands as best they can. I am hearing that VIC and SA are pushing for winter to align with NPl from get go, QLD is borderline but NSW and NNSW clubs are dead against it and want to play in 40 degree heat to align with the Aleague...... very sketchy source for this though so *grain of salt* The greater participation in NSW may have something to do with that. Very hard to attend when you are playing yourself. I'm in NSW - haven't played in quite some time and would love a winter comp. My son who plays - not a fan. the 'levels' needs to fall in line regardless of it being summer or winter - personally i reckon it should be in 'winter' but it cannot continue to be completely different
