It's been delayed apparently. "6. SECOND TIER PUT ON HOLD AGAINThe much-anticipated national second division looks set to be delayed. Initially slated for 2021, the uncertainty at head office amid a host of departures has put the second tier on the backburner. I ran a 24-hour Twitter poll last week asking which issue fans view as the game’s most pressing. A second division polled 44 per cent of the 961 votes. The second division will be one of the top agenda items for the new CEO and – assuming promoting-relegation is eventually integrated – is viewed by many as a key unifying tool for a fractured game." https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/socceroos-young-gun-daniel-arzani-suffers-setback-in-comeback-from-knee-injury/news-story/19b998cd0fdd6e3f97fcfc027d47ecc9

It's pretty obvious that there'd be a handover period on some of these projects with the change of CEO, etc.

The headline to this thread has always annoyed me.
They should have done it independently of the FFA

Sounds like Arnie's reserve grade / expanded NYL is likely to go ahead before the second Division.

+xSounds like Arnie's reserve grade / expanded NYL is likely to go ahead before the second Division. That's fine. The club's will meet the full cost of it so it won't affect the national 2nd division.

From the FFA Annual Review 2018 Grants and Distributions to the clubs for A-League, W-League and NYL, marketing grant, club services grant - $37.2m Air and ground travel for A-League, W-League and NYL - $3.7m Match Officials - share of $1.7m say $1.2m. Marketing and Media - share of $14.9m (this includes broadcast contra) say $7m Event hosting - share of $3.4m (this includes both international games and FFA Cup and Finals series) say $1.2m Administration - share of $2.7m (rent, stationary, printing etc) say $1m Broadcasting - share of $0.4m (includes negotiations with AFC etc) say $0 Other team expenses - share of $3.8m (includes PFA player welfare payments) say $1m Professional and consultants - share of $3.2m (includes consultants for security, expansion etc) say $0.5m Commissions - share of $4.2m (includes sponsorship contra and contracted sponsor and broadcast services etc) say $2.1m Other expenses - share of $7.3m (includes player injury insurance premium, digital transformation expenditure etc) say $2.5m Employee Benefits - share of $32.7m (all but $12.6m Administration appears to be international teams payments etc) say $5m. Total - $61.2m Who knows how close that is but with the known costs of Distributions and Travel adding up to $40.9m it's not hard to leave $50m behind.

My point is Fox gives money to FFA and they use it for whatever they want. As long as they get 5 matches a week, play in AFL NRL offseason and every state capital market has a team.

I was totalling expenditure not revenue. The cost of sponsorship and merchandise are included in the total expenditure. Merchandise expense is in Commissions. The money from Fox is not only for the Leagues but includes FA Cup and internationals so less than $50m of the broadcast rights "belongs" to the clubs.

That won't be the case when the IndiA is finally established. The split between the FFA and IndiA will detail who gets what and what for which is why it is taking so long to finalise.

They choose not to use all of it on AL. They fund other projects. The total revenue from broadcast rights and sponsorship is $84m pa. My estimate is that the FFA spend about three quarters of that on the 3 leagues and the other quarter plus their other revenues on the other parts of their business.

Yeah fuck them. So fucking what? The English football pyramid for example is littered with the football club corpses of the once upon a time successful. Obviously due to the Mariners inherent fucking shyteness in recent years they should rest on their laurels forever? Oh wait they have. Do you know what the A League is in it's current form? Corporate welfare. Do you know what incentive does to organisations & people? It makes them better. I guess you're not interested in that.

Probably worth remembering there was a few years gap between the first announcement of "We're planning to have a national cup next season" and the inaugural FFA cup. These things never happen as quickly as the press announcements would like you to believe.
