Can't see Arnold bringing in too many changes for the games in 4 weeks.
Biggest questions are:
Will Elder finally come in? Are Holland and Rukavytsya finally going to be selected on merit? Luongo, Behich and Leckie are lacking fitness. Do they sit this big journey out? Should Glover miss out in minutes for Roos exposure? I say no and get Fed or some other reserve in.
My squad
Ryan, Langerak, Federici
Grant Sainsbury Degenek Souttar Deng Elder Smith
Mooy Rogic Hrustic Amini Irvine Holland Goodwin
Mabil Taggart Maclaren Giannou Boyle Rukavytsya
Just feel a more merit based squad will send some signals. It could make or break the dressing room by destroying some of the entitlement a few players seem to have and get the mindset right that spots must be earned.

+xWatching the replay of the City game, astonishingly Delbridge has been dropped to the bench! His form has definitely dropped, been disappointing.

+xI’m surprised Ikon is benched at Glory? With some attacking stats I did at the Asian Cup, Ikon was the most prolific Socceroo at both playing balls into the pen box, or, running with the ball into the pen box. Ikon also worked well and combined effectively with others in attacking interplay. His attacking impetus was impressive. Maybe he hasn’t recovered full fitness from injury? I think he’s being dropped to the bench due to poor form, to the credit of Chianese he’s taken he’s chances quite well.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+xIf you had to pick a full strength/most productive squad moving into the next 2.5 years who would you pick? First time in a while we have had so many players who are in and around the squad and could earn a place in our best 23. GKs: Ryan, Langerak, Vukovic DFs: Degenek, Sainsbury, Souttar, Smith, Behich, Grant MFs: Mooy, Jeggo, Irvine, Luongo, McGree, Rogic, Hrustic FWs: Taggart, Maclaren, Boyle, Mabil, Leckie, Arzani Res: Izzo, Wright, Deng, Elder, Risdon, Milligan, Amini, Dougall, Metcalfe, Borello, Goodwin, Giannou, Ikonomidis, Toure I'm bound to be missing some...? im not convinced by sainsbury or behich anymore. it's a damn shame because they have been great before. i think behich will come good once he is playing regularly but i think it's been so long with sainsbury's club issues and nt form that we need to be looking elsewhere. curtis good should get a look in. any other young australian centre backs in the a-league that are looking nt worthy? Tend to agree tbh. Am no longer convinced by Trent which is a shame because even at the 2018 WC he was a gun. Just looks slow and sluggish now. His career sadly will never reach the potential he once had. More concerning though is the lack of alternatives available. Who is else could we look at? Not overly convinced by Deng. Harrison Delbridge? would not be opposed. i was thinking that Delbridge is a better option at the moment but Good is (finally) coming into form. i was thinking ahead. but then i checked the ages and Dellbridge is only a year older than Good. at least with Delbridge we have someone that will dominate the defensive airspace. and he puts in a good shift every game. Can be a bit scrappy but so is everyone in the NT. He is light years ahead of Souttar defensively. if Ryan can up his leadership from goals and marshall the back line i think a Degenek - Delbridge pair could work very well. Also, wouldn't be adverse to seeing Jamieson get a look in at left back - with Behich out of form and Smith still needing to get some club minutes under his belt (imo) I've been thinking Delbridge should get a look-in for a while now. Seems a pretty smart footballer too. Very good in the air... Except for letting 5 foot nothing Fornaroli beat him on the weekend. To be fair though Bouzanis should have taken that easily, and you could see Delbridge going off at him for not coming. he's a good fit. fresh face, in form, experienced, aerially dominant, playing under a positive attacking coach. Agree.

I think Dellbridge has a shot. Susnjar is resting now but should stake a strong claim when Korea resumes. Thankfully Sainsbury is playing full matches and can start to build that strength again.

Interesting also to note that Stoke are looking to recall Souttar from his loan. Would be great to see him challenge himself in the Championship.

+x“There’s a couple in the Olyroos not many people know about, there’s defender Dylan Ryan at Willem II, who are (fourth) in the top league, Josh Laws at Fortuna Dusseldorf (reserves) number 6 very impressive and Zach Duncan has gone up to another level at AGF in Denmark,” Arnold said." "SOCCEROOS RADAR Socceroos coach Graham Arnold revealed that an off-Broadway trio of overseas-based Olyroos were on his senior radar for 2020. Arnold spent considerable time abroad scouting in 2019 and said Wollongong born left-footer stopper Dylan Ryan, defensive midfielder Josh Laws and ex-Brisbane Roar midfielder Zach Duncan could be knocking on the Socceroos door. “There’s a couple in the Olyroos not many people know about, there’s defender Dylan Ryan at Willem II, who are (fourth) in the top league, Josh Laws at Fortuna Dusseldorf (reserves) number 6 very impressive and Zach Duncan has gone up to another level at AGF in Denmark,” Arnold said."

+x+xhttps://youtu.be/ZRpZqtCrTm4Souttar just a bit off pace. He'll get turned a lot if he goes to Copa America but I'd like to see him on set pieces. He'll only get better with the chance. I can't see him in that squad. He offers something different from set pieces especially against opposition that sit deep but against real football nations his defence will be found out. I think Susnjar must come in. He's been promoted to the K league today.

STILL no sign of our attacking gem Arzani? Read that aiming for Boxing Day 1st Celtic team return but haven’t seen him in any Reserves squads so don’t fancy his fitness is good still? We bloody need him for Copa big time IMO

+xYep Perth to Nepal makes logistical sense. There are direct flights to India. Sounds good. If the flight is Perth-Mumbai then then next leg from Mumbai to either Kathmandu or Thimphu in Bhutan where Nepal played their last "jhome" WCQ appears a similar distance to an Adelaide or Melbourne to Brisbane flight. Hopefully the whole journey can be managed with only 2 flights.

+x+xI am guessing that the Kuwait home WCQ on March 26 will be announced in the early part of December. Are there any rumours about the location ? I posted before that I think the June 9 Jordan game should be Sydney and that the June 4 game should be close by (East Coast or Adelaide) to minimise travel prior to getting on board the plane to the Copa on the morning of June 10. Haha that'd be nice. May have to wait until late January. Let's see. Perth has been confirmed for the next match https://www.socceroos.com.au/news/caltex-socceroos-heading-perth-journey-2022?fbclid=IwAR2JrzH1n0JEsrBbTXRumhoyEnZt8sTVFlme9Amn41OpKYzTvzhYL5eyVDwThe 2021 match dates are Match Days 6 to 10 (march/June/Sep/Oct) of the next stage of qualifying should the Socceroos make it

Ends as a 1-3 away win for Kuwait. No idea about respective strengths of the sides, but it's clear that Kuwait are playing much better under their new coach.

+x+xDon't mind Daniel Garb. He's got something like a 90 man Socceroos provisional squad. He includes everyone who does well. You just know he reads Aussies Abroad. We need a shout out on the podcast
