Who is going to be the penalty taker?

Milligan hopefully, he takes a good pen.

I'm not seeing it. Grant has to be undisputed RB, Mclaren was Asian Cup first choice. Redmayne maybe a small eyebrow raise but he's been in form and Vukovic is injured.

Picking Maclaren but not Nabbout is a bit interesting too.

Grant is definitely undisputed under Arnie, just like Ange liked Risdon. I'd like to see Karacic given a try again, he's getting game time in Croatia, playing all of the first five league games of their season so far and getting an assist.

It's a good squad, relatively young. Taggart must be the starting striker.

Happy with the squad. Amini and Jeggo are certainly in the good books. Glad Hrustic has gotten a recall. Goodwin is fortunate but I want to see him give it another go.

Is Ikon not fit?

Ikon only just recently got cleared to be able to resume training with contact, he is not quite ready yet.

Both Rogic and Arzani are injured, Kruse has had his chance.. No McGree is more surprising.

McGree, Gersbach and Deng are all with the Olyroos who play NZ at the same time: https://www.socceroos.com.au/australian-u23s/squad-list

Best to keep that group together to have a real go at the Olympics, unless of course any individual can contribute to Socceroos qualification.

I would have taken John Iredale for the experience over McLaren. Iredale is in form and match fit and if we were a few goals up, chuck him on in the last 10 mins to give him experience. On the other hand, he has been called up to a senior squad before for the experience.
Zac Duncan should also have been considered for experience but not sure who you would leave out then. Maybe they are just leaving him for future u/23 camps.

Yes - I would have liked to have seen Iredale for Maclaren also

Pretty standard Arnie squad, no shocking omissions or additions. Odd that he's taking so many of his A-League favourites, but they're pretty close to being in season I guess, and the camp in the UAE won't hurt

I agree its a pretty standard Arnie squad.

Tidy enough squad - my initial impressions are that it looks a little light on creativity but there's not exactly many creative players banging down the door. (Or creative Australian players at all lol)
Doesn't bother me who plays or how we play, just as long as we get the 3 points.

O’Neill over milligan soon hopefully. Maybe just a fairwell.

Milligan plays for a very poor bottom feeder club. If he remains in the Roos team, let alone as captain, it will be an excruciating embarrassment.

Yeah I would have liked to have seen Duncan called up to the squad (without necessarily playing) for experience given he wasn't called up for Olyroos and I assume the Danish top tier stops for international breaks. John Iredale's league wouldn't so it's probably best to leave him to strike while the iron's hot with his form where he his.

So with the U18s winning that trophy. Who thinks at least 1 of those players should be in this squad , just for experience / regenration purposes.

A couple go to the Olyroos squad who play at the same time, right?

There is a lot of no names in that squad.

I believe some should have been left at their clubs to improve whilst these U18s would have benefited immensely , plus have just beat most of Asia's young talent already.

I mean some interesting points in that.
