You don't seem to understand the difference between the extra "timmy" Marquee and the others.  This guy isn't a Tim #Vision marquee.  He's a run of the mill, everyday, backyard, sweaty, old, really old, expensive shirt wearer.  He's hardly a marquee at all.
This is the most underwhelming announcement since Adelaide announced they were signing some criminal from Florida. 

Good to see Brisbane ramping up the pressure on the HAL business model.

Hmm not sure about this signing. Yeah he's been playing Serie A football the past few seasons, and most of the games, however he's not a big scorer. 5 from 28 last season and 13 from 37 doesn't really make him a prolific scorer, however it is at a much higher standard. In saying that the past few years have probably been the best of his career on paper. From highlight reels he looks pretty fit and quick, especially for a guy that old. Looks like a pretty versatile player up front, touch and technicality look far better than any of the players i can think of from the Roar. Might work out to be an awesome signing, but something doesn't seem right about it.

Signing for "Marquee" wages is basically slang for he's on more than we could afford inside the salary cap.
The same way Gui Finkler is considered Wellington's "marquee".

Signings like this doesn't help Queenslands cause when it comes to wanting to host Socceroos games. Maybe if Brisbane can start treating the A-League with respect by fielding a team of players that aren't approaching retirement then the FFA could reward them with an Internstional friendly.

How is this the FFA's fault? Brisbane can sign up Trent Mclennehan as a marquee if they want, its their business.

Only difference there is that in one case the FFA had a say whereas the other they didn't. It's not as if he's going to Brisbane as a guest marquee., in which case would make your statement much more accurate and relevant.

If you know anything about Italian football you should have definitely heard of this player. My guess is that you are probably just an EPL fan boy so will be a lil tricky to find marquees that fit the bill of who you've heard of.

In saying all of that, Maccarone is too old. Back even 4-5 years ago he was actually a very solid player. Never broke through into a top club but was a consistent goal scorer for mid to lower tier clubs. But was well known because he always managed to get himself on the golden boot tally top 10 in Serie A and Serie B quite regularly. He's one of those players that's been around forever.

33 year old former Italian international out of the NT for 3 years after a 17 game international career, signed for one year, not a marquee.

Sign the poorer player for a longer period to be a marquee. Gotta love those criteria from the bureaucrats.

a good signing if he was under the cap but as a marquee it just goes to show what's lame with the marquee concept. Scrap the cap and let clubs pay players what they like, marquee status comes with pressure that isn't always warranted

Broich hasn't had his operation, nor been snapped up by any other A league club. More likely to be coaching next year than playing ..

I don't get this. 7 goals from 29 in all comps last season and Brisbane are willing to fork out marquee money on him. He was good a long...long time ago.
