Looks like we have a new club from South Australia making the round of 32 this year with only Croydon Kings previously qualifying previously left.

+x+x+x+x-Our cup run has ended again at an early stage, losing 2-0 at home to Hakoah, we went down with out a fight, piss poor effort to be honest after a decent start to our season.-Well done to Hanwood for being able to field a team midweek against Sydney United. -Wollongong wolves out is a bit of a blow as well, would of liked to see them qualify again. Just a quick correction, Well done to Henwood Park (Hanwood are a strong club out of Griffith, Henwood Park is from Wagga). Despite the 12-0 flogging the guys from Henwood Park seemed to enjoy the opportunity to have a run at a venue of that quality. They even managed to bring a new sponsor on board who covered the cost of the coach travel to Sydney. While they weren't able to bring a full strength squad to Sydney, in the end the starting 11 was only missing a few of regular 1st grade guys. Even with a full team it probably still would have been a double figures beating. And good work from Sydney United on at least trying to make things easier for a country club with the ANZAC Day offer. And congratulations to Bomaderry on getting through and being the last country team alive in FNSW. The new sponsor is a mate of mine. I flicked on the initial article to him about their struggles to make it down and he called them straight away to see how he could help. Absolute legend! I couldnt believe he pulled it off considering the short turnaround. Thanks for that. Although I've never had a direct connection to Henwood Park (lost 2 Grand Finals to them), they are a very well run club. Whenever I'm next back in Wagga I'll make sure to visit the restaurant. Class all round.

Sorry for the mistake the witness, Hanwood usually do well in the State Cup. Looks like Henwood enjoyed the experience despite the result, the could have easily forfeited.
@19-SU-58 good chance then of a npl2 or lower club qualifying ala Balmain Tigers in 2015.

Last year was Lake Albert, Tumut and Wagga United.

+x+x+x+x+xI can sense a forfeit coming up for Sydney United. I can’t see Henwood Park coming up from Wagga for a midweek flogging. but then again, how many times could they say they played an NPL1 side at Edensor. They'd be stupid not to go. They might be able to scrape a team of kids together, but to get the full team up there on a Wednesday night basically means taking 2 days off work. Would need to leave Wagga by midday on Wednesday and wouldn't get home much before 4am on Thursday, which wouldn't be great to show up to work the next day. Maybe SU could move the Cup game to ANZAC Day and do Henwood Park a favour. I heard from our first grade player that Henwood will be forfeiting the match. it is what it is. However, it asks the question, why didnt they just join the ACT qualifiers? They can't join ACT qualifying as they are a FNSW member club. Although Riverina and Southern (maybe even Western) Branches should IMO leave FNSW and join Capital football. Last round Henwood Park moved their Home Cup tie from Wednesday to Friday night, to help out the visiting St. Patrick's team, and then backed up to play a 2nd game on the Sunday. Now I'm not suggesting an NPL club could play 2 games in one weekend, but maybe they could consider moving an NPL game from the weekend to mid-week and play the Cup tie on the weekend to help out a country team. Mid-week Cup ties are a problem that will need to be addressed if FNSW want to include more clubs from the Western, Southern and Riverina branches. Of the 80 or so senior men's clubs in country NSW (excluding Wagga City Wanderers and Western NSW Mariners) we only had 6 entries in the 2018 FFA Cup (4 from Riverina, 2 from Southern), that's up on the 3 from 2017 though. Not sure what the answer to be more inclusive is though. Who were the 3 last year? and the 6 this year if we aren't counting WCW and Mariners? Leeton, Henwood are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head.

It states they currently have 10 players committed to making the trip to Sydney, but that the Coach, Captain and at least 3 First Grade players aren't available. good to see them trying to get there. However with only 10 players, its probably better they stayed home. United will field mostly 20s i assume
