Just wondering who has obtained a coaching licence of some kind, what you had to do to obtain it, and if you felt it was worth it?

Check out Andy Jackson's blog. He is in the process of getting one.

Cool blog.
Anyone actually have any first hand experience on these courses?

I got a junior licence a few years back and coached U6's at my club for a couple of years. The actual course is great fun and I learned a lot more about the game than I expected. The junior licence is for kids up to 10, but I managed to use stuff I learned in the course to run training sessions for my Amateur League team as well.
I'd say do it.

I have the 1st stage one but its all preety useless in my opinion. Coached for 5 years now and never had a problem that general knowledge can't fix.

wouldnt mind getting one. I know that sometimes general knowledge can get you soo far, but rules are rules, if you want to get to the higher levels, you need the licenses.

It's more a matter of having that accreditation so that you can go on to get the next level of recognition etc until you get the full FIFA coaching lisence.

Yeah, it's like first year uni in some subjects - it's shit that you already covered in high-school but you need to do the courses anyway to ensure you know the work before you go on to the second year courses.

Except a coaching lisence probably has more practical applications than a diploma...

I got a youth license and have been offered a spot for a senior license...not worth the cash TBH.
The course is very basic and simple(no wonder our grassroots coaching is pants). Ive learn much much more from experience in academy coaching(as well as correspondence coaching with KNVB material).
