Funny what happens when you play to your strengths and cover your weaknesses. 2 games playing 4 in the mid, and protecting the CBs by sitting deeper, and what do you know, 2 wins. Only took 4 years for Tony G to work it out.

I did not even know the Matilda’s was on until three randoms that don’t even follow football told me they went.
What a awesome result and day by the looks of it.

That second half was the best I've seen then play in years. Fast, expansive play, quick movement, combinations galore. Hope the spud can keep it up. And he may have only been there for 2 years but it feels like 4.

+xOver 20,000 at AAMI Park Just over 2,500 for the AFLW game. Suck on that AFL.... I'm so pissed off about this! We are getting saturation women's AFL on ABC TV - nothing about the Matildas and barely anything about the World Cup! I was in the pressure group Friends Of The ABC. Sadly, not having recently visited Football Aus's site I didn't know the Matildas played last night and missed the game! There was nothing anywhere about the game being on in terms of media or advertising.

Don't get me started on the ABC and it's minimal coverage of football( men's and women's).AFL,AFLW,NRL,NRLW and RU get more coverage. The Sydney Morning Herald is the same though its Saturday magazine did a piece on Graham Arnold.

Apologise by slightly derailing the thread, but our sporting news sometimes smacks of being a tiny parochial backwater in sport. Given the live spectator crowds for the Matildas and Socceroos and the fact it is easily the biggest spectator sport in the world, verified by data, our national football teams playing should always be big news. AFL has zero interest overseas. Looking at all the data, even union doesn't figure at all. League has a much lower international profile again. Also, IMO women's football is very watchable. Tactically and structurally the Matildas are just as good as male international footballers.

Usually visit Football Aus site to keep informed. However, I'm astonished there has been no preliminary news about Matildas playing.

It seems we'll be playing in the away kit. Nice to see how it looks in action.

Sun is out and it's hard to notice the yellow in the away kit. I like it though.
Got to say... In the sun we're in this turquoise while Scotland are in a purple white mix which is not the strongest contrast.

Have you ever had this issue as a ref? Biggest issue around here is matching socks. Most teams have non clashing shirts but socks are another matter.

Gorry needs to release the ball instead of playing with it so often. Fowler needs to hit her passes with a bit of speed instead of under-hitting the pass.

Scotland lead 1:0 on 47 with a lofty kind of shot flying into the absolute top corner inside post. This is hard to watch.

Gorry very poor will get shown up even more against better quality. Crummer international football is well above her abilities Fowler poor needs to be playing more club football Tanya oxtoby would make a better manager than Tony Thought Tony's mate was the set piece specialist, the corners were pure amateur
Chidiac should of started Everton holding mid should be playing rather than slow action and easy to knock off the ball gorry
Good to see carpenter back
Not sure 442 works or even 4411

Crumer must be the worst striker I've ever seen. Can anyone tell me why she"s still with the Matilda?

+xCrumer must be the worst striker I've ever seen. Can anyone tell me why she"s still with the Matilda? She is a good defensive player. But as a goal scorer, Crummer struggled in this game. She took too long on the ball, by often taking an extra touch, or her handling speed and foot to foot speed with the ball was too slow.
