Geez, we were the lowest ranked team in the group. Every team including Peru were ranked in the top 15. We are not the only country with high expectations of our team. Are we really surprised that we are not a top 15 side? It’s not all bad. Today we probably had more chances than in any previous WC match. But we still only have half a team who might hold down a spot in top leagues.

+x Time to adopt a team for the rest of the comp. Croatia and England are my picks....those two have contributed hugely to the game in this country and are basically the fatherlands to us. Hope they do well, would love it if one of them wins it.

No goal scorers in the team which really sent us out of the competition. I'm watching the game on Norwegian TV and they basically summarized Australia as a decent team, but in desperate need of a striker or 2 to put the chances in the net. We created alot and just could not finish.
Leaving the world cup without a goal from play is extremely poor.
All credit to Peru with their game plan. They knew we had to chase a result and kept a deep defensive line to soak up play, then burst out on the counter.
Australia needs to keep on eye on young players with striker capabilities and foster that talent for the future. We are in desperate need of at least 2 players who can score goals.

Better coaching wouldn't have changed anything today. We showed in the Denmark game that we could have got a result, but today we were just shown how poor we are. No national team coach can make our players better in the box. Time to find a second team to support

Love Foz but he needs to stop with this anti Bert tirade it's a bit embarrassing. The players simply aren't good enough, they can't finish. It was the same story 4 years ago.

We won't be one of them relying on Mile's penalties

So disappointed in tonight's effort. Result wouldn't have mattered any way but to through away our structure like we did was mind-boggling. We only needed a win. It wasn't like we were after 4 or 5 goals but the midfield structure was abandoned and our defenders, who up to now had been our best, were very poor. Worst performance by an Australian team at a world cup so far.

Good thoughts by Craig.
Millsy just sitting with his beautiful children made me cry, but also feel lots better about the whole thing. Great work tonight by a wonderfull group of humans.
We can only hope the next generation learn to be the best in the world. Hopefully this is the last we see of these beautiful warriors who seem to only hope to beat the best in the world. No disrespect intended at all, we did our best tonight.

@jas 88. We don’t need more strikers who don’t score at international level.

+x+x+x+x+x+xPeru 4 shots 2 goals.Australia 14 shots 0 goals. Can’t blame BVM for an entire teams inability to score. People managed to blame Ange perfectly well. Ange had 4 years Ange got goals from open play in all his major tournaments coached And shipped goals like no business. But don't ignore the fact we went over a year of only scoring from set pieces in bloody qualifying. If that helps you sleep tonight. Fact is this is our first world cup showing where we havent actually lead a match from opening to last game. Thats not a knock on Bert..we just didnt go for it enough..a few cut backs across the box doesnt really cut it imo. We were never in this tournamemt. It's the same as last world cup, the Chile game was similar to this Peru match where the scoreline didn't reflect the result. The Dutch game similar to the Denmark game where we deserved a better result only difference was we performed quite well against France instead of being blitzed by Spain. Now i am being extra harsh on Ange mainly because people who think BVM did a bad job when quite frankly in the circumstances he has got us playing quite well. But something happened to this team in the final stage of qualifying and we have forgotten how to score since

Truely shocking, remember the first 5-10 minutes ? Fucking shocking it ended up this way. Sick of the dancing and prancing around the box, esp from Leckie. Krusen, wooden leg. Hollow Fuck this. Should have blooded Arzani, fucking waste. Rogic and Arzani would have been so tantalizing if it had have happened.

+xAlright, any bets on what the mainstream media will spin as excuses? 1) Peru offside goal/cheating 2) We dont like sokkah anyway 3) We battled hard and went down valiantly in defeat 4) BVM is to blame for not playing Cahill/not playing the Strayan way 5) Our best athletes play other sports so its ok to be shit at sokkah Anything else? Back to saturation coverage of the AFL, cricket and an Origin series that's already been wrapped up by the mighty Blues (a change in culture and attitude yours truly has actually genuinely enjoyed witnessing- let's go 3-0 baby!)
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

Foz talking as if the answer isn’t having 15-20 scoring chances and actually scoring a couple. We should just pretend we actually have better players than we do and try to create 40 chances. We probably had more possession and created more chances in this WC than any previous one. We just have no goal scorers. Pretty obvious. FFS get Ned’s missus off. She’s trying to out Foz Foz.

We had a good last 20 against the danes and a good 20 here and thats pretty much been our tournament.

It's just hitting me now that this is it for Cahill.
I know he's become a bit part player in the last year or so but he's been the hero of the NT for more than half my life and i'm genuinely gutted he's going.

Our last 9 World Cup games:
7 goals scored, 21 goals conceded.
And next time we won’t have Tim Cahill.

The defensive organisation should have been settled in qualifying. It wasn't. It was a shambles. Then time was wasted in camp fixing that.
There is a real problem when players are learning how to look over their shoulder in a world cup pre-tournament camp. How can a simple thong like this not have been addressed over a 4 year cycle?

Alright proud of the team and players but disappointed with the result. Some serious soul searching required. Time to rebuild and time to figure out the whys and hows starts tomorrow. Irregardless of what foz says bvm brought a defensive shape we have been lacking. Going forward we have issues. With the right attacking shape we can score i believe but just as bvm brought defensive shape we need that going forward as well. Thanks to the players for playing their hearts out

It just brushed over the fact which plagues us in our last 2 games and that is we can't score any decent chances that we actually create during games.

Foz talking about the game against Netherlands in 2014. So surely the question is not why BVM didn’t play a different way, but why did the team go backwards from 2014 to 2017 under Ange?
