Your last sentence makes no sense. Winter, day time!? That means a lot of kids and or parents will be playing themselves! Think before you speak.

BTW it's only kids go free when an adult is pre-purchasing a ticket online. 1 adult gets 2 free kids GA tickets. So if you're a member it means bugger all. Only applies to casual fans who want to bring 2 kids with them to a game.

Just open the bloody gates ffs!

A big part of this season's poor attendances is that its the MEMBERS (myself included) that are fed up with the state of things and aren't going to games as much.

Just look at the membership stats, they're very solid.

Perhaps the clubs are reimbursed or something.

If its advertised well it'd be a great initiative.

And there's your stumbling block. Seen it being announced on twitter official club pages but that's pretty standard, not to mention free advertising. WOn't penetrate into the wider market.

Jan 20, 2011Gold Coast United v Newcastle Jets Saturday 22nd January 8:15pm FREE ENTRY THIS SATURDAY!

United are throwing their doors open for this crucial clash to aid the state-s flood relief efforts.Queensland is going through unbelievably tough times at the moment, so the state needs everyone to chip in and do their bit.

With the country rallying in support, Hyundai A-League clubs are, of course, playing their part, and none more so than Queensland-s own Gold Coast United, whose owner Clive Palmer is throwing open the gates of Skilled Park for this huge match-up with Newcastle Jets.

In exchange for a Saturday night of free Hyundai A-League drama, fans are simply being asked to make donations to assist victims of Queensland's flood crisis. Surely it-s a no-brainer for football lovers in the Gold Coast this weekend?

You get free admission to an absolutely massive game for United as they jostle for position in the build up to the Grand Finals and, at the same time, you can give a few bucks to those who really, really need it.

TFW you're too old to be laughing at smutty jokes anymore, then you read a post like this:

They should have rotten tomato round- former HAL officials (Matthew Breeze, Mark Shield, Sarah Ho etc) get paraded round at halftime on the back of utes with their heads in stocks and spectators can hurl rotten fruit at them. Fruit is kindly donated by Woolworths, with the exception of Adelaide United-

Their fruit is donated by major sponsor IGA, while Rodney Rude comes out and tells a revised version of the Aristocrats joke where the punchline is "The Adelaide United Fan Club"

They like to keep it in the family in S.A, after all...

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

The Most Popular Presidential Candidate Of All Time (TM) cant go to a sports stadium in the country he presides over. Figure that one out...

Hyundai A-League fans and families are in for the biggest treat of the season when the much-anticipated Summer Football Festival kicks off this Thursday night.
Brisbane Roar host Perth Glory in the first of 37 matches in 25 days across the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League.Sunny Queensland is the perfect scene to launch a smorgasbord of entertainment that has become a real highlight on the footballing calendar. With kids under 12 given free entry, each match will be a fun and accessible outing for families over the holiday period.Best of all, there are plenty of plotlines to play out on the pitch. Is anyone able to halt Sydney FC’s match to a second straight Hyundai A-League premiership? Can Sam Kerr’s Perth Glory or Emily van Egmond’s Newcastle Jets take top spot off Brisbane Roar in the Westfield W-League?We’re sure to gain a clearer picture over the must-see Summer Football Festival as so many meaningful matches take place around the country.Don’t miss out! Pfft

If we had a low price 16 team 2nd divison and 14 team A-L by now, which would be affordable if FFA didnt take all the money, we could 15 games per week. We could have games on tv EVERY DAY. We could have international breaks and play 2nd divison games during those periods and so on and so and so and.....

25 days is 3.5wks, so we're talking what, four rounds?

A-League is 5 matches per round + W-League is 4 matches per round = 9 matches per round.
4 rounds of A-League + W-League =36.

WOW! One extra game!! Well done guyz!

Why do promotions need to have the Fox commentators?

I'm sure Speedy is a great guy but he doesn't really cover for a shit hot soundtrack.

This is the part that does my head in each and every year!
So the FFA can do a league wide promotion, letting kids go free, which is fantastic, I’m not knocking the promotion at all.

But if they can do that, why is it that they can’t do a league wide ticket pricing structure, so that every club can charge $25-$30 for a standard GA ticket. They need to get more involved in stadia deals for clubs, be more aggressive with state governments to achieve lower rents for the clubs, so that they can afford to pass on those savings to the fans and be able to charge lower prices.
It’s really not rocket science... if the clubs win on that front, the FFA and the overall game wins.

The chase. I remember now. I literally feel over the league.

I love how they made it out to be something to get excited for when this is standard around the world

"The run-in towards the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season Finals Series is set to reach even greater excitement levels thanks to a new feature of the draw known as ‘The Chase’."

"In a thrilling new twist to the draw"

Just went on to purchase tickets to AU/CCM and Ticketek has no mention of the two free kids tickets, so I have no idea if I buy one ticket i'm getting another 2 in my e-mail...

And it also states a family pass (2 adults 2 children) at $68.  Hmm.

Ah .. the 'chase'

In a thrilling new twist to the draw ...
“We have added a new feature to this season’s draw with all clubs playing each other twice between rounds 1 to 18,”
“The remaining nine rounds will see each club play each other once"

Yes, well bugger me, I hope the rest of the footballing world is taking note of just how Australia has gone out on a limb with this novel approach.
Has this really taken 11 or so seasons to get to this?
Admittedly the first 18 rounds are still not a straight 9 opponents from 1 to 9 then the 9 opponents again from 10 to 18, but they're moving in the right direction.

Perhaps now address a few of the other basic fixturing issues ... that I'd also kindly pointed out to them in my fixtures submitted:
1) As per Premier League, last 2 rounds, every club must finish with 1 home and 1 away match.
No exceptions, just basic fairness to all teams and supporters no matter who they are.
This year, Sydney and Wanderers finish with 2 home games, Brisbane and Adelaide 2 away.
In prior years, some teams have finished with 3 at home, one year may even have been 4.

2) And again (as per Manchester), never have (as far as possible) Victory and City both playing at home one week, then both away the next.
You've got 2 teams in the one city, a very decent venue, make sure you have 1 football match in the city each round.
Just seems common sense - Why can't that happen?
Round 26 they are both playing at home, then both away for the final round of the season.
Probably not surprising - take out 3 derbies, and in 24 rounds they both play 8 times in the one round at home, and 7 times in the one round away from home.
It is just these basic things that can be done so much better.

And less of the excuses as to why this can't be done - ground availability, sponsor requests, blockbuster fixture required, broadcasting requirements, blah, blah, blah ... everything can be done, or at least done a lot better with a greater use of common sense and understanding.

Drat, this is my annual pre - season rant again.
