We just came to the end of a pretty successful W-League campaign but there is so much the FFA can do to improve the competition.
In a world where Netball had become professionalised and AFLW invented women's sport women's sport is finally being taken seriously by the mainstream and that's a wake up call for football to continue to move the game forward.
I'd like to see a 10 team competition (with Central Coast) NEXT season. I want to see clubs play out of ONE home ground to build a community - rather than the circus many clubs tour around now... W-League clubs deserve proper training bases and should be pushing for stadium funding together with their A-League counterparts. Finally, let's throw out the lopsided 14 round season for a real home and away 18 round season! Top four for finals!
There is so much potential for the W-League to become a globally supported one. We're home to the Matildas - one of the best teams in the world and should be thought of as THE major league for the Asia Pacific.
We have the potential for global brand recognition which will benefit clubs as a whole and Australian football as a whole, so let's take the league seriously!
