At 31, nearing end your career, you are taking what you can surely. My understanding is contract has more than doubled. Wanderers can shove him under the cap for now, and if we load up on other players we can move him out. They've got a lot of space after the exit of Herd.

Same source gave me the Riera news 3 months in advance and believes he is under the cap. I'm inclined to take his word for now. Coupling this with a personal friend verifying his attendance at HO and the fact that JT told the execs that the other marquee would be saved for the new coach makes me swing toward 'under the cap'

Would be very surprising if he's under the cap. On what 200k at MV? After his season he'd surely want 4-500k. If both clubs were offering about the same, say 250-300k he'd stay at the successful team so WSW would have to offer a lot more

Why would he stay out if he was offered a bigger contract? People are getting hung up on this marquee tag issue. If he offered more, and he likes the move, he will go.

We ditched two ridiculous salaries in Herd and Jumpei. The cap space those two took up would comfortable entice a move.

I highly doubt one of the best players in the league last season would be signing with us under the cap. If that was the case he'd simply stay put at Melbourne Victory.
