To be fair, there's another way the population can increase without that many people. That's when someone keeps hitting refresh on a phone, when the phone keeps disconnecting that internet link & assigning a new IP address the next time refresh is hit.

The website actually does have at least 1 bot, probably in each thread. I'd be surprised if google didn't do a scan sometimes too. Add in another (possible) one for the advertiser & that makes 3. Advertisers like that mostly use cookies in your browser though, a sniff through your browsing history.
Just never assume or act like we're alone here, because we're not. What's posted at quiet times when the population may be under 10 stays visible for whatever day in the future anyone decides to go through it. The place does show up in google, even pages from last year, the year before etc, whether TK folks search for it or are aware of it or not.
If the population says 35, it's most likely over 30 are people. In fact I'd be very surprised if it was any less & would need to see evidence.
And bear in mind, other threads, in other sports categories on InsideSports, don't have the same regular & fluctuating guest population as this page. Most are dead pages, not an extra 2 dozen bots you're saying we had today or an extra 100 or so bots dropping by at other times.

I just checked this page :

'It went along on its roof for so long that it started to wear into my helmet' - Skaife looks back on a life on the road [Comments] (insidesport.com.au)

I was the only population, apart from an original post....from an InsideSport bot.

Yeah but is the inside sport not a bot or a person acting as a bot???... Or a dyslexic named Ian Roberts???....

You could try visiting a Volvo dealer website & see if the cookie it leaves in your browsing history does the trick.
A bot detecting adult diapers & alcohol in your browsing history is inevitable...

Seriously though, there was no active bot in that other InsideSport page. Clearly this website has an automated system for posting the latest articles, but no bots were hanging around in it. Based on that, it seems unlikely they're scanning for keywords, just going through the traces in everyone's browsers to do tailored advertising. So if it says 40 people on the page, it probably is, unless 1 is googles time to do a scan or maybe the website has a bot drop by once per day or something. It's possible. But not dozens or hundreds of bots just hanging around all the time.

I found a Thames Television list by popularity & Benny is #6 there :

https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?companies=co0103342

I've never lived in England, so I don't know if Thames was a channel or a production company or where these shows aired.

I'm not sure what #19 was doing there. I gave it a few eps. Just no. Maybe I lacked the cultural awareness, like if Americans tried to watch Kingswood Country.
I didn't have any probs watching Scottish shows like Rab C Nesbitt or Still game, both had plenty of funny eps.

I've never heard of Thunderbirds, only that American thing from the 60's with the puppet looking things.
Coronation Street is one of their big soapies with Eastenders going back decades. Neither have had long airtime in Aus to get much of a following here.
Inspector Morse, Foyle's War, Downtown Abbey have all been on here, I've just never watched them.
The Avengers, good old show from the 60's, Channel 9 were airing it early morns last year.
The Professionals I remember seeing a few times, cops & criminals kind of drama show.
The others left on the ITV list I've never heard of. I was surprised #1 was one of them.
There's 3 on that BBC list I hadn't heard of either, some I have heard of but never watched.

I just found this on Wiki :

Thames, was a franchise holder for a region of the British ITV television network serving London and surrounding areas from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. It was also a production company. Thames Television broadcast from 9:25 Monday morning to 5:15 Friday afternoon (7:00 Friday night until 1982) at which time it would hand over to LWT. It continued as an independent production company until 2003.

So that explains why Benny Hill & other shows weren't on the BBC list.

The Thunderbirds was a British show.

And absolutely magnificent, way ahead of it’s time in story and production. Australian actor Ray Barrett was a mainstay, voicing most villains.

Just another absolutely classic masterpiece of entertainment you’ve never seen.

And btw, still stands up today. You’ll find it on YouTube if not one of the channels on Foxtel. Fox8 used to run most Sat mornings, don’t know if it still does as I gave up Foxtel for Kayo (yeah I know I’m still paying the same bloke, but I don’t have to pay for 90% of shit I never watch).
