Apparently Steve Hansen is upset with the Barrett sacking...
Hell, if it means Hansen walks, I would have sacked Barrett ages ago!
In fact losing Barrett, Naden and Hansen would just about be the trifecta for me.
I know Zef would be disappointed but seriously, if Hansen thinks we shouldn't have sacked Baz after our current season results, then I have no respect for anything he says

He has a very high win percentage in sport, but he also had a strong culture and organisation. Our club couldn't sct on his primary recommendation and that is why we will continue to be a weak club with a panic driven culture. We need someone like Bullfrog or Gus to keep a lid on the panic and desperate short term decision making. Gus will hopefully steer the ship. Hansen comes across as arrogant, but his record speaks for itself.

+xLooks like Mick Potter interim coach. I wonder how many of the Bulldogs fans remember he was involved in the 84 85 Grand final wins should had been in 86 .. Hope he puts a bit of Wazza back into the team

If he walks so be it. Does he really make any difference to our club?

If he walks so be it. Does he really make any difference to our club? From here on probably not. He made some recommendations that board members serve fixed terms. Beyond that his role was mentoring Barrett. That didn't extend to advising on team selection. It did include setting standards, and we fell down on that. In his era, the All Blacks had the highest standards on and off the field that I know of.

If Potter impresses for the remainder of the season, is he a candidate for 2023?
He would need to win 4 or 5 out of the next 6, Panthers is the impossible game, and why only 5 is possible.
Eels also close to impossible.
Of the 4, the next game Friday night is the hardest, limited disrupted prep, players might be lacking focus.
At a minimum, he needs to drop Dufty and Okunbor, or get lucky..

Yes it is that increases our chances but beyond the win/loss column there is the question of how we are playing. The chink of light for Potter is that the same players keep letting us down each week, and that young guys outside the top 30 can now be used. 2 out of the 4 main offenders are not playing and TPJ might have been suffering from the early stages of flu against the Knights. My hope is that due to the flu or inspired selection we get rid of the deadwood. If Potter picks the same players as Baz, same result. New players is a gamble, but I would roll the dice.

I would have thought he'd be given till end of season unless they could bring in the full-time contracted coach beforehand.

So he’s got that long, even if he applues which I don’t think he will. He knows what his brief is.

The earliest I expect a decision on the new coach is June 30th, the latest around the end of August. The new coach will not start coaching before the end of the season. I doubt that we are doing much in terms of recruitment, we mostly want to promote young talent.

Even if we go with another option, he can climb the pecking order, might get a shot at the next job. There is always a next job. His sacking at the Tigers was similar to our sacking of Baz, underperforming players and restless fans.

Gus just gave Docker-Clay a wrap.
Another guy, Said he digs into the line...
Perhaps an outside chance of seizing our vacant halfback position, but more likely just Gus praising all players when asked.
Kiwis love contact, most of them.

What did Jackson take or smoke before the press conference? Claiming Barrett the best coach he has played under . ? Was it personality or tactics ?

Seems like Docker-Clay plays 9,6,7,13 in that order.
Definitely more of a hooker than a half, might not have a kicking game.
Runs the ball well, good pass, good step, some speed, seems like a good support player.
I'm gressing some or all of JMK, Wakeham, Flanno have the flu.

Gus knows who he wants. I suspect his shortlist is Ciraldo, Freddy and Flanagan not necessarily in any order. Ciraldo’s already counted himself out so I reckon it’s either Freddy or Flanagan excepting any surprise interest from someone already coaching like Graham suggested.
If Potter was a chance Gus would’ve told him, same as he would’ve told him if he’s no chance and I’d bet on the latter.
Mick knows his brief, Mick knows he’ll still have a job next year and longer with Reggies and other back room roles down the track.

The candidates are Des, Pay and Baz. Jackson spoke very well and by himself for 10 minutes and few, if any, umms and ahs . He didn't repeat himself when stuck for words like so many do and delt with Anasta's and Ennis's comments very clearly and professionally without criticising them. I for one was very impressed and proud of his efforts. And in a pretty stormy week it was a little bit of sunshine and I felt proud of my team, something rare lately, albeit perhaps briefly

We are in most games and actually playing better than last season for 40-60 mins most games. They don't need to change a lot, a half who takes the ball into the line, will help. Harder running will help. Better execution, passes out in front, faster ball movement will help. Also cut out the dumb errors, and set up for the end of set kick.

Dufty is perhaps an even bigger problem than Flanagan. Main issue with JMK is perhaps playing too many minutes. I hope we try a few changes, Potter has nothing to lose.

Did you steal that from the 15 other teams? Coz I'm pretty sure every other teams is telling itself to do the same. Our problems don't need alittle tweaking. They need alot. We have been poor on many facets of the game for too long. And it shows.

There's 2 options Potter can go with. He can either make wholesale changes to give as many youngsters a go at first grade, or he can make only minor changes enough to win a couple of games and be considered an improvement on Barrett, which will help his resume in the future. I suspect most coaches in his position would take the second approach with a view for some improvement by the team and therefore improve their perceived capabilities

I listened to a pocast with Gus. Potter has expressed no interest so far in coaching beyond this season. Last time Potter coached the Tigers they were 6th midway through the season, got hit with a massive injury toll and faded. That was the last time the Tigers were as high as 6th.
