+x+x+x+x+x+xFans are impatient and critical, especially after a long lean spell like we have had. I will be happy if Ciraldo gets the team fitter and gets the defence to NRL standard. If BBO and Hayward are not ready, don't rush them. But I am desperate enough to try Wakeham, ZDC or almost anyone at half. Mahoney will help, but the half has to know what to do with time and space. It was baby steps this year . At least Potter did his bit and got us off the bottom and a potential embarrassing second in a year row spoon . With the side Ciraldo has at his disposal the team should at least be in contention for 8th spot . Can't see us in the top 4 without a top notch half. Need WAY more from our spine to be top 4... Mahoney with a good halfback may solve most of our problems. If the 9/7 are creating opportunities Burton and Averillo just need to play their role, basically follow their instincts. If not Averillo we can find another fullback. Even Burton at 5/8 can be hit and miss, mostly because he is being asked to do too much. Yes, I have agreed with this point for years. We should sign an experienced halfback. But who is it? If the young guys are not yet up to it, the best bet is to look for a specialist half who is second choice at their club, an ex-NRL half in the UK, or a UK half. Tanah Boyd at the Titans would be my first choice, I prefer him to the Titans regular half. But people might have noticed how good he is. Sezer was my other choice. I think that we can't offload Flanno, the forwards are too weak and the defence too suspect to throw a young guy in and expect him to work miracles. We will know that the young gun is ready when he slays it in reserve grade every week. Or when the team is at least competitive at the ruck each week we can throw a young guy in. Without better forwards Flanno isn't entirely to blame, but I have seen him given time and space and he rarely knows how to use it. He seems to get confused, slow down then eventually take the tackle for no good reason. A half with attacking flair would think fast and take the opportunity, run, pass or kick, do it quickly and execute. Mostly I think that the half has to take the space, draw in the defence then throw the right pass which is usually a short pass to a runner in the gap. I doubt that Ciraldo, Potter and Gus are happy with many aspects of our play, they must have a plan for 2023 and the future. What the team is currently doing isn't acceptable. I never rated Sezar highly. But if he is the only experienced half. I would take him.

Agree on Flanno, but I think the better solution is to go for an elite or first string halfback rather than try to realise the potential of a second string one. Yes it will cost $$$ but halfbacks generally do. You cannot bury your head in the sand when it comes to halfbacks. Even when you have 4 at the club, if at least one of them is not top 3 in that role, you must keep looking to improve. We keep purposely missing the boat on this position and keep coming up with the same excuse that there are non elite ones on the market in the year we get serious about it. You can't operate like that. You need to make secret plays even when you have a decent one on your books.

I never rated Sezar highly. But if he is the only experienced half. I would take him. Sometimes guys like him improve after a stint in the UK, sometimes not. But when it works out an older player can be good value for money, provided that their body is in reasonable shape. Most of the criticism of Sezer was him going missing in the semi-finals, at present I would take that. He is also an example, I would also have signed Hastings and their may be other similar players. I want an older player with a few years of NRL experience and a point to prove, even if they mostly want to prove it to themselves.

How come Marki hasn’t suggested Ben Hunt only for Zef to quote Hunts age???…
TBH if Sezar is the best option we can suggest Id prefer we chased a young gin with po… Reed will drive some structure next year and has a reasonable kicking game from DH…

As far as I know we have 1-2 young guys with potential, but clearly they are not yet ready.
Buggered if I know why we picked Duffty and Flanno so many times this season, I would have punted both permanently after 3-4 NRL games.
We could start ZDC at half and bring a young guy in off the bench. Or just run with a young guy or Wakeham for 80 mins.
Seems to me like Potter took an early calculated gamble with Averillo at fullback, then tried to build combinations.
15 mins of Tommo on the field showed what we were missing, we need to fix the forwards, Reed will help.
I will be glad when Flanno proves me wrong, or when the coaches stop picking him. But Duffty was the bigger problem, I am very glad that he is gone.

Maybe Pangai will fire up in reserve grade.
I always remember Reardo getting sent off in reserve grade after 2 oposition players were carried off after being on the end of spirited tackles.
Shame that the ref interrupted him, he was making the point that he didn't want to be in reserve grade very well.

Thompson is a great player make no mistake and I do think better suited to lock than prop. A very explosive runner. We just need Andre the Giant's league playing cousin as a prop. A bopper is what we need. When do we need him? 2023.
