Games over. Try Kiraz at fullback, Averillo to wing and Skelton to centre. We may as well have a look at them now.

+xIs it too early to declare the Flanno experiment at no 7 is a waste of time? Only in 1st grade… Weve dropped way too much ball to give anyone a chance…But there’s zero chance of him ever turning a deficit around…

Apparently the team were absolutely flogged in the heat yesterday… Our discipline in aspects has been awful… wonder if fatigue has contributed….

Yrah I think Ciraldo needs to lay down the law seriously kick some arse and put everyone on notice. It is glaringly obvious that we are at least a No.1 and a No.7 shy of even competing at semi final level.

The opposition were a different class, but I thought that we looked better in the first trial. CC mjght have made a few mistakes this game, let's see if he can learn from them. Manly now start as hot favourites round 1, not a bad outcome.

Stonestreet made Kiraz look very slow, ran straight past him.

Does Burns go to FB???… Or Kiraz to FB and OK to wing???… Avo to FB, Kiraz to Centre and Ok on the wing???…
I know it’s only one game but jeez it’s had to see Hayze stepping up after his last couple of efforts…
Pele is a must for mine… I’d even consider starting him in front of Thommo…

+xStonestreet made Kiraz look very slow, ran straight past him. That is my doubt about Kiraz at fullback, speed, experience, and picking up grubber kicks, I have never seen him play fullback in any grade. Critter is better than anyone we have. Averillo, Burns and the young guy Papalii look like the best options to me. Perham wasn't too bad for the Maori side.

It is a lot essier to score points when we don't drop the ball.

I woukd like to see Perham play well at fullback in reserve grade before giving him another shot.

Our squad looks better this year, this trial was just a bad performance and perhaps a bad selection at fullback Halves wise I want to see what that young kid from the Broncos Karl has to offer,.

That was our first outing together and thankfully it was only a trial. Let's see how the first half a dozen games go and then you can start slitting your wrists.

As Dman said the squad might have been over cooked for this game, but we dropped too much ball in the first 20 mins.

When I said Cummins shouldn’t open, I didn’t mean he shouldn’t bowl a few overs at all… Serious questions should be asked about the coach and selectors…

But we could lose it easily if Turbo plays a good game. Our defence is far from good.
I still think we have the makings of a finals team. But we looked no different to last year. Coaching is still the problem.

The team looked better in the first trial admittedly against weaker opposition. Our attack, defence and handling looked better. I don't know how much was due to better opposition, or how much was down to a bad day at the office. But a lot of football games are decided by possession in the first 20 mins, especially early in the season. Dropped balls can mean a lot of tackling and less energy in attack. So against the better teams starting well and maintaining momentum for as long as possible is important.

Haven't watched the game as yet but have recorded it and will watch it before commenting.
Have read the posts both here and TK and seen the score so I know the result. I'll see if I believe it is a systemic issue or just issues related to individuals.
One thing is for sure. It proves what I thought last week and that is 1 win doesn't mean we have turned a corner. It just means we scored more points than the opposition.

Maybe Sharks defence was too good. But it looked like we didn’t offer much other than a lucky kick to Kikau.

Ok finished a replay.
We have systemic lateral defensive issues or simply cannot count numbers. It's been a problem for afew years now. We must be the worst team at sliding and numbering up.
I'm also concerned with how poor Burton is. He was outplayed by Reynolds, Flanagan, Nu brown, and even Rajab in his 15mins. If he doesn't pull his finger out and play like a first grader, we should announce a niggly injury to the media and drop him for a couple of weeks to think about it.
Many on TK were putting the blame on Flanno, and while I also agree he isn't the future half, he at least gets involved.
My thoughts going forward are that we still don't create points. We scored a lucky ricochet try, a barge over from dummy half and kick back to in-goal. Even Averillos no try was a fortuitous ball loss and runaway.
This once again puts the blame on the halves and I'm afraid will be the catalyst for us failing to play finals again.
Sharks were hot and cold but simply looked a top 4 team that can flick a switch whenever they wanted to. We have alot of work to do.
CC must first fix this lateral defence issue as we simply cannot be conceding so many tries from overlaps. It's schoolboy stuff.
He also needs to fix this halves problem as both Burton and Flanno need to be creating more points through structured play and not rely on luck or opposition errors.
