+x+x+x+xI can understand why the attack is disjointed, injuries and forced team changes make it hard to form combinations. But Flanno is part of it. Marhoney just had a bad first 50 mins. The stupid attempt to milk a penalty from Perham cost us, that was a critical change of momentum. Sharks will be tough, after that it should get easier. We could surprise the Sharks if they take it easy. But I’m not confident.
Flanno has got to go. He killed the momentum all game. Perham try’s hard but just doesn’t offer enough. With Kiraz out next week we need to shuffle the backline up a bit. Okonbor can’t play on the wing. Needs to be in the forwards or nothing.
But the coach really has no decent options. KO isn’t ready to play halfback on first grade. And I don’t want his confidence to be destroyed. We have very few decent backs in reserve grade that should be playing firsts. Except maybe Skelton and Casey. And they are a risk. It’s certainly going to get harder If KO isn't ready, pick a different hooker and move Marhoney to half. No… bloody hell man… we are almost back to Tolman to hooker days… Assuming that we drop Flanno (we should) and KO isn't ready who is your half? If KO is 50% ready, I am picking him, but not against the Sharks. If he is 80% ready I am picking him against the Sharks. Maybe off the bench, but still in the 17.

Afew years back the Roosters were savaged by injuries throughout the year and in finals.
They actually did well even in defeat, although they obviously had a better roster and a more complete team.
We are also going through an injury ravaged season and need to just hold on as much as we can. But irrespective of the effort and courage plays, the management need to do their job and pick the right players in the right spot.
As much as we'd like to not throw KO in too early, we just about have our arms twisted into it. We need to get an even keel on games by taking our opportunities when we have them.
Burton and Flanno failed again in the first 20mins when we had good field position to put on points. Mahoney overplayed his hand which he has done many times now coz he has no faith in his halves.
I mention this at the start of the season and have to say it again now.
Give KO some Gametime off the bench next week against the sharks. No matter the scoreline, he won't be blamed for it but it at least bloods him into first grade.
He can then (hopefully) secure the 7 jumper in the games after it.

+x+x+x+x+x+xDespite the lack of any luck with injuries and refs, have we seen enough of Flanno???… His pass to TPJ after we scored was 1000 mile an hour at the blokes head.. and then.. and then… We looked better with Flanno at dummy half and Maroney at halfback. IMO grub isn't offering much, Flanno should be 14. If he is in the side. Last try showed why Okunbor on the wing can be a mixed bag. Everytime we tried to milk a penalty, we didn't get it. Still the attack was more off than on especially in the first half. Flanno should not be 14… u can’t carry a bloke that can’t play his own position let alone no other position… Seems to me that he will never be a half, but he might be a half decent hooker. Main issue at 9 is the lack of a running game and average kicking, but he passes the ball well, and is an ok defender. Also a good support player, though not great at finding the best opportunity when in support, dies with the ball too often. Thank you for talking yourself out of that idea… 🤪 Grub at 14 isn't the answer. Nu Brown is the Nu Black was a good 14. If we want a 14 that can cover an injury at hooker or in the halves, we don't have many options. I do take your point that a dud is a dud. My point is at least reduce the number of duds by 1. I honestly think alot to of our problems stem from the fact that our halves don't produce enough points. This manifests itself into negative thoughts and our forwards try miracle offloads which lead to loss of posession and ultimately gifting points to the opposition. It's the elephant in the room but it needs to be pointed out.

This manifests itself into negative thoughts and our forwards try miracle offloads which lead to loss of posession and ultimately gifting points to the opposition. It's the elephant in the room but it needs to be pointed out. Burton is patchy, but most of our points have come from him, with a good halfback and fullback he would be a good enough 5/8. Flanno and Perham just are not good enough, probably close to the worst attacking players in their positions in the NRL. Perham is fairy good positionally and he tries hard, but not the answer. Grub isn't the answer at 14, not really sparking the attack, prone to making poor decisions. Okunbor off the bench was working ok, but if we have a 14, we only have 2 forwards on the bench. Offloads are the right play, but players need to be selective. Ever since Nu Brown got injured, our team selection hasn't quite been right. With the injuries and ref decisions we copped in the last 2 games, even perfect team selection probably doesn't win the game. But we need to start working towards it for when it will be the difference.

I thought about the 17 I would select 9 are out injured, another 3-4 are carrying some sort of injury. Out of the remaining 3-4 fully fit players there are 1-2 that would replace guys that are currently selected. Sharks will be tough, a win will be an unexpected bonus. The next 4 games after the Sharks are winnable. After that, we have a bye, and baring further injuries we are starting to get players back. Rounds 9-12 may determine how this season goes.

I like the scoring system proposed by Gus years ago.
10 points - win by 25 or more (all games worth 10) 9 points - win by 13-24 8 points - win by - 7-12 7 points- win by 1-6 (80 mins) 6 points - win in golden point. 5 points - draw -both teams. 4 points- golden point loss. 3 points - lose by 1-6. 2 points - lose by 7-12 1 point - lose by 13-14
What is good is that unless one team is being flogged both sides have something to play for the entire 80. Leading by 7-12 with 5 mins left to play, why not try to score more tries to earn more points. Behind 7-12 with 5 to play, even 1 try will earn the team an extra point.

Opps I got the last score band wrong. Lose by 13-24 is 1 point. I agree that it needs fewer bands and perhaps make a game worth 6 or 8 rather than 10. A golden point loss from a dubious penalty is where the current system is unfair.

What Buzz mentioned on nrl360 made sense... 4 points for a win, 2-2 for a draw after GP, 3 points for GP win and 1 for GP loss. Otherwise, just keep it as it is. It's not the draws or GPs that hurt you.... It's losing games due to bad ref calls or sin binnings

From Gus on Twitter- Harrison Edwards not playing any grade due to a weird skin complaint that they are tracking down.
We need to track down that Parra fan with the working Dogs voodo doll and dress it in Roosters colours.

It will be great to get through a week with no one injured at training, or in the game, or in the showers after the game, boarding the bus, or at the BBQ / piss up at Dman's.
I hope Dr Marki has delivered the beers, and more importantly one of the neighbours has a pet sheep that they want to get rid of.

Skelton and Oloapu not named in reserve grade.
A chance one or both might play NRL.
If Averillo is out, I assume Skelton comes in.
Burton also named at 7, Flanno 6.
I think that we are getting closer to the change we all want to see.

I do believe both Alomoti and Skelton need to be paired with fast wingers. Apart from their obvious attributes, both are very slow to turn and chase back when the ball's kicked behind them.

Zef.... Going off topic here abit... I can't remember if the following was discussed by you on this page previously...
I watched Interstellar last night. I was drawn to it having recently listened to the musical score by Hans Zimmer - which is brilliant.
Space movies aren't really my thing but this one moved me. The Nolan brothers did a good job.
Can't remember if you had mentioned it in here or not but I'd like your thoughts on it.....

My thoughts Skelton will replace Averillo or Burns if they are injured, pretty odvious.
KO might replace Grub on the bench and come on as a 6 playing on the right side. Flanno will stay on and move to a lock / dummy-role, Flanno's job will be to defend, link the play and support.
Eventually KO will start with Flanno on the bench, probably replaced by Anubus when he is back..
Slightly surpising that we would do this against the Sharks, but our slim chances of a win probably require CC to roll the dice.

So the RHESSI satellite will re-enter earth’s atmosphere this week with some of it perhaps striking the planet…
According to SCIENCE!!! “The risk of harm coming to anyone on Earth is low — approximately 1 in 2,467,”
1 in 2500!!!!… low risk!!!… quick, put on your mask… stay in your homes… no standing at the pub… Dob in your neighbour if they have a friend over etc etc…

I didn’t get the bit about how anytime can think it is a reasonable idea… it’s not like he’s have your mate Romy or Cleary feeding him the ball… Agree re Lou, and Flanno… the only position Flanno can ‘play’ is 7… in Ron Massey Cup or England…
