+xMy two cents. Probably worthless. Is that we sign Allamoti and Sam Hughes but let go of all others off contract.
I would go after Johnson again. If at all possible he would be ideal for at least a year or two. And Frizzel and Sims if both are happy to play in the middle. I think Frizell would be a good fit for the Dogs. I've always rated Sims but I think he is back end of his career and probably not a good fit. Johnson I'd only get if he was packaged with a superstar FB. No FB, no to Johnson

+x+x+x+xAvo to Dolphins true???… Plenty of faith in some youngsters, and Xerri???… Critter to centres and a FB on the horizon???… I oh r the extra coin for a 7???… Quai-Ward and Sermani are 2 options. Alamotti played as a lock or 5/8 in the lower grades and prefers those positions. We might end up with Critter and Kiraz in the centres, Wilson or Xeri at fullback. Dolphins offered Avo a good deal, apparently we have other priorities. Hunt says he wants to return to QLD , might end up with Des and Foran at the Tits. The Tits have some good young halves, I would try to sign Toby Sexton or one of the others. This reminds me of when Gus let a gun centre go at the Panthers, I think there is a plan. We will know how well it worked out this time next season. We might want centres who are better defenders, though Avo has improved, it isn't a strong point. We should sign Sexton if Hunt go’s to the Titans. He is a great game manager for such a young kid. Would be a great halves partner for Burto. I still would prefer experience in the halves though.
Allamoti should stay in the centres. I think he is too small to play lock and has no future in the halves. Xerri hopefully the other centre but we have plenty of young talent in the backs. Gus posted that Alamotti prefers lock and 5/8. My gut feel is unlike Averillo, Alamotti isn't attracting big money offers elsewhere and he will probably stay. He is a bit slow to be a centre but is great at making yards. If he has any ability at 5/8 and lock he would be a good bench utility. Hunt wants one of 4 things. 1. Money. 2. A Move back to QLD 3. A chance to win a comp. 4. Getting out of the Dragons after they punted Hook. If we could get him I would prefer Hunt, but the Roosters, Tigers, Titians are also interested and would let him play halfback. Out of the 4 clubs we sre the least likely, unless we pay a lot more money than the Roosters and Titians. If Hunt went to the Titans we could get Sexton becuase he is now the 3rd or 4th choice halfback. I agree Hughes has potential. We do have some good players in the lower grades not far off NRL. I don't know if we will do anything this season, the last few games have been disappointing, and well short of where we would hope to be. It may still happen but the odds of Hunt to the Titans are lengthening. Directly from two Queensland origin greats, one associated with the origin team and one in the media. The connection to the Titans was Mal. Apparently Mal is pissed off about the Holbrook sacking and was not consulted. He may even leave the club.

+x+x+x+xAs long as the club are doing the opposite to what Marki wants, I think we are on the right track. I am trusting Gus and CC to deliver. becuase they both have 5 mins more actual NRL coaching experience than I do. However, I have trained my cat to come when I call, and that is another win over the neigbours highly fanciful cat. Ok it is my daughter's cat, but she leaves the actual work to the cat servants. Any parent silly enough to believe promises made before the pet arrives is worse than guys who have never played footy, but think they are an expert. This is a footy forum... Leave your daughter's cat (I could have used another word) out of it. And the club has been doing just about everything opposite of what I have advocated over the last decade and we have seen their results .... I have been reading this forum for at least that long. Posting more recently. You certainly have made many big calls. To be fair you have recommended the club sign some very good players. The problem is that most often the club has no chance to sign those exact players. Because normally you mentioned their names after they were already signed elsewhere.
Just for shits and giggles. Who would you sign that is off contract currently for next year. And who would you let go? More importantly, I can tell you who I wouldn't have signed and wouldn't have let go.... Kikau and Chrichton I wouldn't have signed. Averillo I wouldn't have let go if he was the last player at the club. I value him higher than Burton. Wakeham I wouldn't have released. It was already clear we weren't gonna keep Flanno and Burton was not going to kick on. As for who to sign now....it's unfair to ask that now when there is hardly a pool of players left this year. I've been advocating to fix the spine and not afraid to pay top dollar to do it for years. We finally get Mahoney and took a punt on Burton. Burton may work out but hasn't as yet. Instead of getting an established and proven fullback, we sign someone on FB money who is untried or certainly unproven in a struggling team. I won't go into forwards as I don't rate them. I would never have paid big money on TPJ. In fact I probably would never have gone after him. Typically will not answer the question asked or address the point raised… Mockstradamus at his best… predicting stiff tgat never happened and leveraging 20/20 blindsight…

It's no secret I have wanted Starling at hooker and Collins as a forward..Starling from about 4 years ago and Collins from about 3 even before he played origin. We got Mahoney so I'm happy enough for the 9. I also wanted Moses as halfback but also mentioned we should try get Hunt even before he extended. I also mentioned AR but not as much as the two above. Fullback (my favourite position by the way) is a tough one. I've always like the footy smarts and the way Gutho plays and would love him at the dogs. Not many out there that have the footy smarts I value so much in that position. It's not just the stuff you see on TV. It's the off the ball stuff but it's also the ability to ball play. I also wanted Teddy when he was leaving the tigers but that moron of a coach Hasler didn't want Moses aaxa package deal and literally screwed us over for the next decade. That 1 decision would have kept us as a top 8 team and instead we've been cellar dwellers ever since.

I can't think of a single time the Dogs have outbid the Roosters on a contested signing of a star player like Teddy at his peak.
We often outbid them on smart recruitment of talented young players looking for an opportunity like Preston.
We sometimes manage to hang on to our stars, but they got Mase and SBW in the end.
The players Marki wants us to sign are players we mostly can't get or are not that great anyway.
Gus and CC certainly are not reading this forum for recruitment tips, but they might get a laugh out of it.

So hack grub germoulists claiming Brincs can sign Hunt for remainder of year for $200K… 5 months… Are we honestly supposed to believe he is ‘on the cap’ for $600K???…

Every agrees we need a competent half. However a half is not enough. You need to build a team for them to work with. Evidence:: Dragons Hunt: Manly DCE

Reserve grade trailing 4-8 at halftime. Pele, Waddell, RFM and Papalii playing, but the biggest surpise is BBO is back. Now only Kicks and Tommo out injured?

If I could change the past I would have invested in apple and google, bought vacant land all over Sydney and got to know Jen Hawkins much, much better before she ended up hot.

I'm having trouble working out what's happening with Pele. On the one hand we're told he needs football, he needs fitness, he needs to build up his stamina to play more minutes. 2/3 of the way through the season and he plays 39 minutes in two stints in reserve grade. Push the fat c**t and if he can't hack it, piss him off.

I was happy with his effort against the Sharks, he made a difference in attack and defence. We lost the game when he wasn't on. I was surprised that he wasn't put on after 30 mins, a quality 10 mins either side of halftime would help the team. Depending on how the game is going throw him on for the last 10, quality not quantity. If he was ripping in in reserve grade I'm happy, if he was bludging I'm not. Wardell also played reserve grade, does anyone remember anything Wardell did against the Sharks?

I still haven't given up on this season, the comp is fairly even with a pretty consistent standard. 1-2 key players in or out makes a big difference to most sides.
A run of possession and a few lucky penalties in the first 20 mins can make a difference.
We need 17 players in the squad who will compete and go hard while they are on the field. The team is rudderless without Burton's kicking game, we need him on the field to be a chance to win.
We can close the gap, especially if we get Kicks and Tommo back. The Knights game is a test of our ability to win without Kicks and Tommo.
The Knights are a mid-table team, not top 4, but not rubbish, beatable, but only if we tighten up the defence up the middle.

+x+x+x+x+xAs long as the club are doing the opposite to what Marki wants, I think we are on the right track.
Lol. Come on champ.
If I could change the past I would have invested in apple and google, bought vacant land all over Sydney and got to know Jen Hawkins much, much better before she ended up hot. Yeah we all regret not dating Jen Hawkins 😁

+x+x+xI'm having trouble working out what's happening with Pele. On the one hand we're told he needs football, he needs fitness, he needs to build up his stamina to play more minutes. 2/3 of the way through the season and he plays 39 minutes in two stints in reserve grade. Push the fat c**t and if he can't hack it, piss him off. It’s a weird one… I haven’t seen him play enough minute to look fatigued… if they 39 quality minutes I’d rage that fit a bloke of his size and level of match fitness.. I don't think 21 minutes is enough. He doesn't seem to be progressing.

He seems to be regressing. He had great impact early in the season. Now he has little. Much like King, he looks much worse. Probably same could be said for most of the team though.

I am judging him more on effort, attitude and potential. Also the fact that our side currently has a lack of size. King was also much better earlier in the season, I think injuries are a factor. If King was in form, or Kicks was back it is easier to accommodate Pele playing limited minutes. If we had more options he would be working on fitness in reserve grade. It will take at least one more off season to turn him into a solid NRL prop. His best form may be 3-4 seasons away, assuming that he keeps working hard. I suspect that he had injury issues before he came to the club, then he coped a few injuries during the season. We needs regular footy or a lot of training to get fully fit.

I don't want to watch a replay of the Sharks game to work put what the problems were.
It was odvious that our kicking game was well below par, without Burto we were rudderless and we are too dependent on one guy.
Hayward looks like a natural kicker, I am unaware of any other options.
We were beaten soo badly by the Sharks that some players must have just about had the red line ruled through them, especially if they also disappointed in previous games.
I don't think that is the whole team, certainly not Morrin, and IMO the big boys were not the problem, apart from spending too much time on the bench.
The question is if CC has enough good replacements to drop every player that deserves to be dropped, and how forgiving he will be.
It sure looked like the only way from there was up, I hate to think that we could get worse.

He has all week to work on his fitness. A few minutes on the weekend is not enough. King busts his arse every week and I'm sure at training too. I'm not sure about Pele he seems to be going nowhere and will while people make excuses for him.
