+xA bit more coming out regarding Bmoz to Dragons story. I can't believe we would knock it back. One because of the money we need and second we are always bending over backwards to let players go and not stand in their way of a good deal. Various examples..insert name here. There wouldn't have been a fan backlash I don't think....it would have made it easier to keep Jmoz financially and emotionally cos his bro gone back to St George....got me stumped :) The Dragons have perhaps the form winger in the comp in Nene McDonald and have international winger Jason Nightingale on the bench. Kurt Mann is also playing well on the other wing...so why would they want another winger. Could it possibly be that some "news" report is actually rather fictionalised than factual.

The money probably wouldn't be what you think - at best it'd be 6 months worth and then only IF Saints offered to match it, if they didn't it could've been 3 months worth or less.
I'd say we just looked at the money, looked at the team we got to field to avoid the spoon - and said it's just not worth it.
And I'm all for taking the money given our situation. But it's got to be some real money, not just loose change.

True...I found it hard to fathom for my 2 reasons, if the money helped....half a season be $350k then we tip in 50%...we get 175k? to use towards topping up Jmoz....but as Steve says..probably a slow news day and no Dogs news..so come up with something/anything :)

+x+x+x+x+xI just want to reiterate that the best possible outcome we could have would be Cogger fits, Foran is fit and finds his role in the team with someone else running it for him (again hoping Cogger fills that) and Lewis excels in the centers. That's what we should all be hoping for, and more importantly trying to work towards. Unfortunately I'm doubtful the second part of the equation, Foran being fit, will eventuate. But then, OK, THEN, we make other plans. And even then the best outcome would Cogger and someone else, even a miraculously fast -tracked Wakeham wokring and Lewis performing in the centers. And it's not that I don't rate Lewis as a half, it's just that I'd like the situation that we've got halves performing well enough to shift Lewis to the centers because I think he'd excel there as much as he will in the halves. I want me cake and I want to eat it too. He could be a rock solid defensive center creative in the ways best describe by HD aka MC as a Jamie Lyons type. That's the best outcome, that's what we should hope works. If it don't and it means Lewis in the halves well fine but now we got a center problem. Foran an organising half, with a pass who isn't known for a long kicking game but creates by going to the line...that appears to be the main difference between them? I don't think he is to tell the truth, i think he can be, but I don't think it's his best game. I'd rather him... well, firstly FIT of course... and if that happens, just playing for himself and his runners. I don't want him thinking about field position or the tackle after the next, I'd rather him just playing eyes up in the now with someone else doing all the planning and talking. We asked him to run the team, and he will, but there'll always be someone more suited. And he'll always be more suited playing for himself and his supports without worrying about all the rest. Sounds like a 500k (tops) player zef. Is he a 500k player? I don't know what you're asking there Marki, nor how it matters in context. What matters is he's a contracted player and he's gonna get payed what he's owed no matter what you me or anyone else think he's worth. Are you saying we don't pick him in NRL because you think he's over-paid? What im saying Zef is that when he (or any player for that manner) command top dollar during their negotiations, he needs to know that the expectations from the club and fans are that he performs as a top player. If he is in the halves and commands top dollar, expectations are that he is the dominant halve, not the passive one who can dump responsibility to some unknown at halfback. It doesn't matter which number you wear on your back, if you are paid 800k you must be the one that controls and runs the team. This doesn't just apply to us - it applies to every club. At Manly that player is DCE at 7, at the Storm that role is Munster at 6 (although aptly supported by Smith at 9). There are similar examples elsewhere. One dominant half and the other abit more passive. One gets paid a lot and the other can be on less. Foran on 800k should be that dominant half. Its unfair to want the big bucks but then dump responsibility of running the team to an inexperienced Cogger, Frawley or Lewis.

There's plenty of halfs commanding "top dollar", your $800k or more who don't run a team Marki.
Let's just look at the current top 8 and pick a few teams:
Which one's running the team at Saints - Widdup or Hunt? They're both on top dollar and there can be only one. Panthers is it Maloney or Cleary? both on big bucks.Roosters it is Cronk but then there's Keary cleaning up near a $mill. Blake Green had all his bithdays come at once when The Warriors threw $750k at him, sure that was to come and run the team, but do you think they're paying Johnson any less to just play off the cuff no plan at all football next to him?
There is no "must" Marki, there's what someone will pay you.
What you're really trying to say is Foran is over paid, regardless of what he does and I'd be inclined to agree with you. But that don't matter now does it, there is nothing to be done about it, it's done. And again in context to what I was saying, being how I'd like to see him best used - so what?
I think he'd be best used just playing eyes up and letting someone else run the team. You might agree with me, you might not. If you don't just say I'd rather him run the team. If you do - are you going to then not do that if you could because you're paying this money and he'll do this for that money even if both himself and the team would be better served if he just played for himself and runner on the money?

I agree with this.... Foran has good instincts and natural takes good options at the business end of the field..... All this is need is some alternative so the opposition doesn't think Foran is getting the ball every play and some help so Foran doesn't have to do everything...

I haven't given up on Foran, football wise anyway. I worry about his fitness, I worry that injury's gonna see the end of him, maybe it's already seen the end of him and we're just waiting the announcement.
But fit, fit enough to give us even just 18 plus regular games and a semi series (Ha! semi series, anyway got to think positive), he's valuable, very valuable.
I don't believe his best football is behind him, fitness permitted it should all be before him and fitness permitted I believe it is.
It just all comes down to if the club that had Terry Lamb playing his best football when he was 50 and couldn't train and had no knees left can do it again.

The on going rescue of the Thai boys trapped in the cave is pleasing for lots of reasons.....
The principal reason is for once, politicians have stood aside and let the experts run the operation......
I hope everyone gets out OK, that will be a great result in challenging circumstances.

I find it scary to read the scenario they face...it makes the rescue of the miners in Tasmania look like child's play...but not denigrating those efforts one bit. I could not imagine even attempting the rescue. It is beyond belief how difficult it is.

Damn..... Josh Morris signs 2yr deal at Cronulla.
Apparently the Dogs offered Josh a ‘competitive’ 1yr deal for 2019, but chose the Sharks
B Moz will follow..... no doubt
Surely Pay needs to sign at least 2 x Centres & 1 x Winger even though C Crichton is coming onboard.... we lack quality & depth in them positions from 2019

Yes you are correct in me thinking he is overpaid. But that doesn't mean he cant correct that. He has another 3 years to correct it if he sees out his deal. Im pretty sure when Des planned to get him here it was to run the team. You may disagree but i cant see why Des would pass on so many better game orgsnisers to get Foran. In any case, i dont think its wrong of Pay to sit him down and tell him he is the highest paid half and should play accordingly. I personally would want him to medically retire and can see it happen sometime next year, but if it doesn't, i expect his performance to be commensurate of his performance and role- like any profession really.

I just think their ceiling price should be 500-600k. 800k -1M and they must be the best in that position on a consistent basis. Foran is good for 500-600k but not the top dollar and not for 4 years. I know i know....market bla bla bla. But id rather pay 800k-1M for the best player rather than risk it on a second tier player saving 200k.

Marki...... Tigers paid $900k a season for 4yrs to your mate J Reynolds
Last season the market was wild for halves
This season it looks like a market for Props with Jr Paulo, S Boyd, J Wallace etc all picking up massive contracts
I hope this B Wakeman kid is something special and gets a go mid to late next year after a season in reggies & an off-season eating loads of protein

Its likely his last contract and he'll be chasing big bucks. We can recruit someone with more longer term benefits on the money he would be asking. Sharks are in a different state. Probably looking to jag another premiership while they still have a top 4 team. We are on rebuild.

At least we know that the Morris Bros are going we can now start thinking about their replacements..
We have Harper who is an excellent prospect. ..
Appart from that there is a big "Position Vacant" sign flashing ... that often attracts top young talent. .
2019 results might suffer, but perhaps we are further along the rebuild road ... I doubt that we are winning the comp in the next 1-2 years .... so focus on the long term.

The young centre / 2nd rower at the Broncos. . Staggs is an excellent prospect ...
Their goal kicking winger is excellent. .. and looks to me like he could player more positions.
Put in a good offer for both and we might get one.

Dman’s been laying low since his boyfriend Holland went missing on the field last Saturday night
Apparently Holland wasn’t injured, he was hung over after hanging with Dman, Crusher & Idiot Des at Dee Why RSL
