+xInteresting..... 3mins to go in the first half, we get a penalty on the 20m coming out of our own half right in the middle of the field (if anything 3m to the west of centre) Reed has the ball, Crighton is asking for it, Reed doesn't give it to him as he searches and gives it to Burton (correctly). This whole time, Mann is telling Crichton and then Burton its best to kick to the Eastern sideline. Not sure if its because Burton is left footed ? I was under the impression the wind and rain was from the East and kicking that way wouldnt make sense. Or maybe it was to allow them to put on a backline move to the left side? Either way, Burton looked left and right (probably confused coz the earth is not flat) and eventually kicked it to eastern side. As i said.....Interesting. There is something brewing at our club, and it's all positive...

I said i think on the Kennel.....
Radley did NOT deserve to be sin binned for the tackle on Crighton. It was not a hip drop. It was just him trying to jump over his teammate to make the tackle.
There are so many instances in rugby league where the tackler theows himself to make a tackle amd end up landing in the player. None more so than Taaffe on Young (who also ended up with a leg injury i might add) and they are not considered dangerous (in fact they are considered top shelf tackles) and Radleys was indifferent.
The NRL should rethink how they separate dangerous hip drops with standard tackles that end up on the legs of the attacker.
In my opinion, if you dont hang off the player and land on the player in an intentional way, it should not be a sin bin.
I'd go as far as say that a hip drop should only ever be a sin bin if there is one tackler only as that is what usually makes the "hang" intentional.

Having watched the replay, i am now convinced beyond ANY doubt that Burton is a left centre and a very good one.
I know Micko sees a 6 on Burton's back and sees 3 tries next to his name with a try assist, and thinks hes a great 5/8th but all i see is a player who played a brilliant game in the centre position.
All 3 tries were centres tries but most inportantly if you watch the last 20odd minutes of the gane where Sexxy comes on and Burton moves to left centre, he is brilliant. He scores his 3rd try, he nearly makes a couple of half breaks and defends well.
I know people say he is the best jalf in the club but i dont agree. His try assists are usually from kicks and he goes missing on too many other occassions that i feel he is best used in his best position.
Hutch and Sexton weren't terrible. They probably could have kicked slightly better but if the criticism of your halves is their kicks need to be slightly better, then you have first world problems.
Those 2 are the very reason why Burton scored his 3rd try with Hutch straightening and taking a tackle with a quick play the ball 10m out and Mahoney and Sexton stripping the Roosters to put Burton over.
Id like to see this combination in dry conditions coz it was not the best game to draw conclusions from.

One thing i will say about Hutch is that he probably butchered the chance after Tedesco got KO'd by Kikau, for 3 reasons...
1) He had numbers outside him with abit of room and no FB and decided to cut back in. No guarantee we score if he passes but it had a higher chance
2) Cutting back in, badically needed to result in a try. He half beats his man but his offload is to King of all players who gets stopped
3) The ref was always going to stop the play for the Teddy injury as soon as that play was complete, so it killed momentum.
It wasnt an error that turns over possession or gives away a penalty or 6 again. And we still had the chance to score in the plays after it. But it was the wrong decision in the moment and given the Teddy injury and disruption to the Roosters defensive line.
TK is up in arms about Hutch killing the play on that play and also in Souths game. What they dont realise is that Hutch took the line and straightened out attack on at least 6 other occassions in this game and benefitted the team.
None more so than for Burtons 3rd try.
Some of those guys just dont understand the game......

I didn't think there could be anything more annoying than the self proclaimed greatest mind of the twentieth century after we had lost....BUT THERE IS ...it is the SPGMOTTC when we win. Bask in the glory...it is a natural reaction. Tedesco and Walker often overplay their own hands but Luke Keary is a great playmaker and he came into his own in the second half. Loss of Taafe was huge. we weren't lucky to win...the stinking Rorters were lucky to get as close as they did.

I think that we were close to putting the Roosters away and really putting a score on them.
1. First half kicking close to the opponent's line, most of the repeat sets we got were from unforced errors. We didn't get a try off a kick or many repeat sets. Improve that and we probably score more in the first half and take more juice out of them.
2. Curran drop. That was just an unfortunate error by a hard working player, but if we managed to score in that set or get a repeat set it is game over.
3. The Hughes tackle, I was surprised that it was a penalty, but Hughes is big enough and strong enough to hold a player up one-on-one and drive him backwards. So I think forget the body slam even though IMO it is a legit tackle.
Still by far the best 30 mins we have played.
But if we can get better at repeat sets and try's off kicks I think that we can beat most teams especially if Mann, Preston and Tracey recapture their form from before they were injured and Kiks and Burto stay at the same level.
I hope that the players are thinking the same way.

Hip drop interpretations an issue... NRLol, refs and coaches need to sort it out... It's looking like the tackler needs to slide down from the hips to the legs any time the player gets past them in the tackle...

And there it's is again with a head clash... PrestoJnr on Cotter... It seems only big blokes have a duty of care to 'lower/bend' in a tackle...

If Gus wants to sign Jayden Campbell I am in 100% agreement.
Tits even looked like Des wasn't coaching them for a while there...
I agree , hip drop, double movement, tackling the player in the air, holding down in the tackle, escorts, markers not square, obstruction are a real lottery.
Did I leave anything out?
We could replace 26 players on the field with a roulette wheel, if not the players perhaps the ref and the bunker.

It’s hilarious how Marki hardly reviews a game until Burton is our best player in a great win. Without him we lose by twenty plus. With him in the centres we lose by ten plus.
Honestly. He is as good as Fitler or Daley at the same time if their careers it’s just a shame he has to play with such incompetence over the last couple of years. Finally getting a half decent team around him.
