I still say this is the right side. CHN back in, Odgen should start. Flick Nu Brown. Just need to start games better. Unlike the commentators, and some of our fans, I noticed Newcastle had a lot if lattiude in slowing our play the ball and a skinny 10. However, our attack has to get better. I still say we could have won this game if we started well, the first 10 mins were tge opposite of what I wanted. That is why Odgen should start,,, We made Newcastle earn their tries, the last try was after a knock on, but illustrated why Brown should not be in the team. He needed to cover the inside. To win games we need to start better, get better organised in attack and make fewer dumb errors.

+xSo once again our chance to snatch a game is totally fkd by a piss poor call from a referee. Rugby League will never flourish until the idiots with the whistles get it right. I'll be honest in this case we blew it earlier with some dumb dropped balls. The refs also did notice a few very forwards passes from Newcastle or them holding us down in the ruck. The NRL must be an equal opportunity employer it is great to see blind people getting a chance. Even on the Foran no try Ellott was ruled to have obstructed the player who was offside, the rule should be changed if you are offside, you can't be obstructed.

A pass from Pearce to a second rower just before Smith intercepts, was easily forward and wasnt called while that crummy play looked line ball at best. I cant blame the refs for that call. Would have been reviewed if they scored directly from it. Point is, we allowed them to get to a big lead and it was always going to be tough to pull it back. It's the time where everything little error or ref call becomes crucial. The better teams eliminate this but not putting themselves in the position in the first place.

The problem he has is he is coming on with 10min to go, chasing points and trying to impress. I think the problem is the 10mins, not the player.

Napa had great stats, but isn't leading like a senior player, still should be the other starting prop. Results or table position this year don't matter, I just want to improve our game, the team is good enough to win at least 50% of games from here, but that is up to them. Fix a few things and get on a roll, we could string a few wins together. Defence was much better except for the first and last Newcastle tries. But Ponga is class.

I agree with your last point and thought the same. As soon as the video ref noticed Mitch Barnett was offside and played advantage, it could not have been deemed obstruction. Just as well we scored next play off the tap as I was fuming. It's one thing for refs to make a blunder on the fly, but it's almost criminal to make the error from the bunker.

In the last 12 minutes when we need a line breaker we had Tolman getting an endless supply of ball.

Stating the obvious and again you show your colours by saying Gnu Brown was good..,,,for the sake of saying something opposite to what someone else said.Leads can be cut back but not when we are given brum calls like we were give...ironic that had the player who had the ball after the Pearce knock on be allowed to run without being tackled it would have been reviewed.

Our defensive problems were on the other side this time, Hoppa can't come up past Cogger and leave him posted 1 on 1 with a backrower. Overall the result might not show it, but the defence was better.

Napa, Tolman and Jackson shouldn't be the starting middle forwards. Our halves took a while to get into the game. We need a good hooker, but Foran and Cogger should make a good halves combination. I guess Penrith are struggling with a much more talented squad. Newcastle did play fairly well, in particular they defended well. Maybe we should have Holland instead of Brown on the bench, we need some spark late in games..

Just too many players that aren't 1st graders and others like Hopoate who is slow as a wet week. The issue is 2 fold. In defence, we allow teams to steamroll through the middle with poor line speed and invariably get many attacks inside our 20. One defensive lapse or a bad bounce from a kick, and its as try. In attack, only Fualalo, Ogden offer any punch through the line or hit the ball up with any mongrel. Today they were supported by C Smith and Napa, but Napa once again playing too few minutes. So we hardly get to be in position to attack inside the 20m unless we get penalties or opposition make mistakes to gift possession. Foran was very poor in the first half today. His grubbers into the in goal on early tackles were useless with no chance to score. All it did was surrender 40m from the dropouts. He redeemed himself in second half by running the ball but good grief he is not worth his contract....

Cogger was ordinary most of this game but was better the last 2 weeks, he clearly out played Lewis who was going through a patch of bad form. Lewis is a better defender. Still think that if he keeps improving he has potential, he is a natural halfback. But he does need to do a lot better than this game.

Our best play was the double long passes late in game from our 10m that allowed Montoya to make a break and find C Smith.
Had he passed to JMK straight away it would have been a try under the posts to level scores. Instead.....an error was made in the tackle to diffuse the situation.
Jackson also dropped some key balls in good position to kill our attack.

+xWhen is Napa going to do a hard tackle? Napa has been disappointing, we need Ogen starting. Foran and Napa are coming back from injury but need to do better,. I think Pay should have kept Odgen starting, Napa should have come off the bench until his form demanded a starting spot.
