I think theres a huge difference in plagiarizing a chord progression vs a melodic tune, riff or solo, or even a vocal inflection.

But Sweet Child - that's all melody that was lifted, from beginning to end. As Duff said it's "stunning". 

But I also don't think he did it on purpose nor do I think it's litigable. He was just on the crack one night listening to some of his Aussie pub rock collection and that melody stuck in his head.

Another of these is Jethro Tull's "We used to know" and "Hotel California". Totally identical chord progression and Ian Anderson wrote it about 6 years prior to the Eagles hit. Though to his credit Anderson, rather than run to the solicitors, was actually chuffed that the Eagles used the melody and said imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

My original point was that these were songs with similarities but the Allan Caswell From the Inside had 100% identical tune to the Alabama song which pinched that tune. Alabama huge artist in USA...Allan Caswell in the backwaters pf Australia....both represented by Sony Publishing...the Aussie loses. I take it everybody knows the Theme frm Prisoner...which starts with the line He used to give her Roses...I am sure the tune of the following is the same...exactly

Then again Steve, if you are referring to blatant plagarism look no further than Led Zepellin.

And I'm not saying that their spin on a tune wasn't without their own unique "signature", it's more that they "forgot" to ask permission for its use.

Re the Storm wanting $ and player to let the Fox go for 2021, I think they are just throwing out some bait to see if there are any suckers... I find it highly unlikely they will make him stay beyond this year if he really wants out... 

It's a worry if the club is keeping plodders and the only way to lure a star to the club is by losing a promising youngster who could become a star himself. 

It's now 16 years since our last premiership and perhaps a sign that building a team around plodders is not the way to go these days....

I felt a real kick in the guts we couldnt get the Turbos. These guys were definitely 2 players (covering forwards and backs) that we could have built the team around. Add Lewis and Wakeham in the halves with Cogger as backup and all we needed was the best young hooker and we would be premiership contenders. 

The culture, family ethos, level headedness and rep level footy they would have brought to the club are factors you cant get just from any player. Yet we would have had 1 leading the backs and another in the forwards. Real opportunity lost.

Only a few plodders left tho.

That's the thing.
We will soon be told we cant replace some of these guys with anything more due to SC pressure and minimum 30 man roster, but that shouldnt be a reason we offer them 2 or 3 year deals.

If we absolutely need to keep them to fill roster spots, get them on 1 year deal and offload them next year. If they dont like, off you go.

Culture eats strategy for breakfast mate... And you seriously underestimate how long it takes to rebuild or change culture, and how stability at all levels of an organisation plays a massive role (especially after what we’ve been through at the back end of the Dib era...
