+x+xThe one thing I hate though is people (commentators, fans, media etc) suggesting that the back of house politics have a bearing on our on-field performances. It can and it usually does. Because the coach particularly and football staff in general invariably get caught in the middle. Coach can shield the players but then who shields him? And if the coach is effected it dribbles down onto the team. Happens all the time Marki, year after year at any and all clubs and it effects on field performance no doubt about it. The exceptions are the strong embedded long term coach's like Bellamy, Bennett and Robinson who have enough power themselves to not take sh.t from anyone and stare down anyone who dares to try. The rest are always under pressure from above on their good days and when the sh.t hits the fan on the bad it dribbles down onto them as in which faction do I align with? if I'm talking to or listening to him/her am I offside with him/her? They end up thinking more about politics than football because their career depends on it. Well, the rumblings only started in recent months and in particular around Pays sacking and we were well and truly in the shit by then so there should be no excuses regarding back of house politics. But I take your point that we cant continue with infighting as it will cause all sorts of issues and uncertainty on any decisions going forward. Hopefully those that truly want us to get back to glory will back off and let the current mob do the job they elected for.

Cotric is a very decent signing, JAC at the rumoured $550k the Tigers have tabled him would be well worth it & we could offer the Storm the choice of DWZ, Reimis Smith or even take Stimpson back.

I can live with Reimis for another year as he was re-signed 2 years ago and playing well but has regressed badly this year. DWZ the same. Worried about Jacko who would be on big coin. I'm a fan of Tim Lafai and unless we get more strike power at centre, we need him with no Holland, Harper or possibly Montoya. I certainly dont want us re-signing Tolman just for the sake of it. Would prefer we kept Suasu Sue.

What’s Georgallis thinking ffs? Reimis Smith & DWZ.... even Hoppa has been sh1thouse since coming back from injury should be dropped before the Newsreader Team selection just shows how clueless Pay and Georgallis are... But will it make a difference? We are probably getting flogged in the last 2 games then 2020 will be over? The EPL has started badly for me and I can't get into the cricket. Dman v the grannies at lawn bowls is a riveting watch, any more biff and our man will end up in hospital. It is like a throw back to the era of Peter Kelly and Les Boyd ... the big plus is Dman doesn't get badly flogged every game.... HD..... we’ll need to make sure we keep Dman up to date with all things in the EPL
CNt wait time hear all the excitement of 0-0 draws and 1-0 floggings... I'll give an executive summary of every 30 seconds... Just a small taste... Hammers and Drugcastle take a knee for black lives matter.... riveting stuff ... but it does happen every game... Haircut standard in the EPL was dropped we need Villi back. Unusual weekend coming up. We won't get beaten for a change. What was the last Channel 9 game...vs St George? We won that one. Found the problem. I find it every week when I see Tolman named in the 17.... If the team selected is the best we have its very depressing. If I'm right that 11 of the starting 13 are contracted next year, it's even more depressing. MDog, is there a site I can go to that tells me who is contracted for next year? I was under the impression reading this page in the last few years that we had a heap of players with contracts ending this year. I will tear strips off this club if I find out we have extended the contracts of these hack players. I am aware of only few that had contracts beyond 2020 and again only few who have since been extended and only the new guys who have theirs expire in '22. Can someone post a link or lost please,? NRL.com has a list of contracted players up to yesterday

I have noticed Meaney has been dropped. Strange decision that one as I thought he has been one of our more consistant players. Georgallis hasn't shown that he is a genuine FG coach and some of the team selections lately tell me he is either taking the p!ss because he didn't get an extension with us or he really is clueless as a head coach.

I'm over the referees and the bunker. Surely a KPI for a referee should be the ability to make a decision, not give an opinion. Opinions are for fans and commentators. I don't mind them going to the bunker when there is a genuine need such as vision obscured. They also have touch judges for the sideline. If they don't know say so and give the benefit of the doubt to the attack or defence but not the referee who's just admitted he doesn't know. The game is just unnecessarily slowed, sometimes to the advantage of one of the teams.

Agreed although it wouldn't surprise me if TB has asked him to do certain things but then again, if you were not part of the future assistant coaching role would you even bother entertaining such requests?

AFB has requested a release from Fwit Dessy’s Eagles..... the sort of mongrel prop we so desperately need to lead our forwards! He’s got 2yrs left on his deal....

It would be interesting looking back over all the decisions from the video ref and comparing it to decisions made without. Because without any great knowledge it does appear that there has been little progress in making the correct decisions. And if that is the case, stop wasting money on it and let the refs on the field make the final call.

Video ref is fine IMO. Current rules around obstruction interpretation are the real mess. Basic logic suggests that if a player is not obstructed, it shouldnt matter whether a player has caught the ball off the inside, outside, on top of or under the fekking shoulder of any lead runner. The problem we currently have is the video ref is forced to apply the current stupid interpretation and as a result get it horrendously wrong. Prime example is the Lindsay Collins try. They should have a checklist that starts with.... A) Was a defender impeded from making a tackle due to the presence of the lead runner? If yes, then carry on with the checklist...if no then dismiss the obstruction call. Simples
