+xThe coaches also help attract good players. 1. Perhaps they have been coached by one of the guys before. 2. They know someone who has. Looking at the available talent, Hetherington, Salior and Townsend are good candidates. After that we need a hooker and a centre... We have the coaches, the spaces and the cash, 1 or 2 good signings will get the ball rolling. Looks like we’re a good shot at getting Hetherington. He’s publically knocked back Manly and The Warriors but tellingly hasn’t said the same about us and Penrith won’t stand in his way of a longer contract elsewhere.
I really like him. Admittedly has anger issues but I love anger issues. He’s the sort of prop I think it was The Wok was referring to when he said a club needs six props, 2 playing, 2 reserves and 2 suspended.
The bloke’s a killer.

+xI am trying to be optimistic about the Barrett signing. I like the guy, always wanted him playing for us. But he was terrible at Manly. Obviously he has Penrith playing well but he isn’t head coach. I’m having huge doubts already.
If we sign a good hooker, halfback, fullback and prop it may change my concerns. But the players we currently have aren’t walking into other teams. And we lack strike players, smart players and some mongrel.
Just watch the Cowboys last night, they made such easy meters and looked sharp from dummy half and out wide. We aren’t close to them and they finished 14th. That’s just one rung up the ladder.
Obviously we don’t have the team yet, signings are desperately needed. But is that all that’s needed?
Sorry about the pessimistic comments. But I’m struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel
The Cows no 9 Cotter was excellent. 9,7 and 1 are critical positions, our side has been lacking in these positions and prop, it is fairly accurate to say we have been lacking everywhere, but these are the biggest issues. When I look at the players we have let go, the club has that part right. It isn't just Barrett, the coaching team looks good, and Barrett has some experienced support. Barrett made some mistakes at Manly, he has admitted that. The Turbos like him and were disappointed when Manly punted him... My take, he is probably a good coach who lost his way and had a bad season... No one could have predicted the Broncos spoon, prior to this season many thought Seibold was a good coach. It is clear to me that the issue at the Broncos is recruitment and retention, also players playing out of position and standards slipping. That started when Bennett bought Boyd back to Brisbane and shifted Milford from fullback, the club has been struggling to work out what to do with Milford and Boyd ever since. They also don't have many mobile high work rate forwards and their organization and kicking game is worse than ours. The only surprise is that we stayed in the race for the spoon for so long. Smarter coaching from the Dogs would have seen the Broncos claims the spoon, 3-5 weeks earlier. That is my other take, coaching was a big problem for us this season.... hence a big opportunity for improvement.

The bloke’s a killer. Exactly what we need.... a prop with passion provides leadership, and fires up the others.... The occasional suspension doesn't bother me, it is part of the territory.

I share your sentiments but the way Cows played yesterday was winning rugby league. Its top 4 rugby league. Their issue is consistency and hence reason why they came 14th. They've had afew too many games where they looked as bad the Broncos. We are a much more consistent and stable team, but we cant play like them. We need to change our ways and aim to play like them with the consistency of us.

Huge meters from a great forward pack.
The difference was their halves combined well and their backs held onto the ball.
Our forwards can not make those tackle breaks or meters. We desperately need hard running forwards. Thompson is the only one at the moment.
Our halves have no feel for the game and our backs look slow.
I agree consistency is the Cows problem. They have a good team. Much better than ours. But that was my point. If we don’t sign some very good meter eating forwards and a hooker to provide them room to make those meters we are in for another bottom four finish

Graham no try? I think they should have taken the referee from the bunker and left the player in.

Annersley can and will make as many excuses for his referees as he wants but at the end if the day the onfield and bunker refereeing is as sh!t as it ever has been.

On our most recent form and taking a form line through these top teams, you could argue we're the best team in the comp.

It has to be the playing style, or Tols is already playing for the Chooks.... Sack the coach.

Great to see the Roosters smashed, even with some disgustingly bad decisions go their way. What a fun night for the neutral!

Did someone say the South’s halves were over-rated? As a pair they’re the best in the comp, end of. And Cody Walker just played the best game of any this year.
That’s why they’re a chance. And if you’re betting the best value you’ll get.

Ill back myself and and call them to get beaten by the WLWLWL knights next week...

Souths are where they are on the backs of Walker and Reynolds. Backs are slightly above the mean. Forwards apart from Cook, Murray and sometimes Burgess hold their own at best. It’s Reynolds and Walker that make the difference.

+xAs in the main over the years you’re more likely right, but I gotta stick to my guns... Well what do you think after watching them tonight. Particularly Walker? Still over-rated? I’d only consider them over-rated if someone said they were the best pair in the history of the game. But the best this year - fair rating. Can they win a comp on their own? - yes they can. Will they? - Get to the GF and I’d back them against anyone... if they get to the GF.

As good a form as Walker’s been in, Keary’s got years under his belt, and 3 Premierships. He can’t be denied.

+x+x+x+x+xThe elation over the SA border opening. The obsession with the Queensland border restrictions. Why is everyone so eager to get out of NSW. The Sydney Roosters Valid reason. I suppose The Broncos are the opposite reason. The Broncos media coverage up here is a cure for constipation. Could have been a kid up here wearing a Broncos jersey. As the Apple ad says Puke Emoji. Luckily the grandparents up here loved their bulldog so much they followed the bulldogs. Moolooaba eh' Spent 1 year of of my life down there mainly in Troppo's at the old Mooloolaba Hotel. Thursday arvo, Friday and Saturday nights plus big Sunday sessions in the bar. The year I was old enough to get in and 12 months later some developer turd down there tore it down. The only thing that kept me sane down there working for Jacka Fishing Co.The last night there ever was huge. Slept on ground across the road in the caravan park. The people who had their van on the spot were not very happy with me falling all over their camping chairs then disposing of the filtered XXXX through the air like I was hosing down a burning building The old Sunny Coast was a great place Caravan park on the water now a car park. New pub Mooloolaba just down the road. Close to the old location but very second rate outlook.
