Kafusi gets off. the magic of origin

I cannot believe it....

Was the panel concussed?
Did he walk in there and let off a bunch of flys or mozzies so the panel can find themselves squatting?

I thought magic round was afew weeks ago..

Dont get me wrong, im a QLD supporter and its yo my favour, but if Josh Papalii is out suspended for his un-intentional shoulder to the head, why should Kaufusi survive on an intentional trip?

Dogs chasing Gould, hard. Head of Football position.

I am not sure that we need to change anything.

I would like to see how this coaching/football management team goes next season, with better talent and another off season of preparation.

It seems like we are making smart decisions overall, at least smarter than the last 10 years.
Gus comes with baggage, an agenda, an ego and drama, but he also knows football and football players.
When you don't know what you are doing, you need Gus, no question.

Since he turned us down, it is academic.

The thinking must be Barrett can use a bit more help, he has fairly experienced assistants and our lower grade coaching seems better, player development seems better.

I would probably invest in top class talent scouts myself, definitely in all key areas, Sydney, NSW country, SE Qld, north Qld. NZ. Make sure that we have it covered, and we are in the loop as necessary on all emerging talent.
But in particular don't allow other clubs to poach our top junior talent.

Young players can learn to pull beers in Laundy pubs, with Dman as quaility control officer.

Bulldogs did approach me some weeks ago regarding a possible role with the club. I informed Bulldog Chairman John Khoury early last week that I could not accept the very kind offer. I’m very committed to my role with and the long term vision we share.

Mind you it all may change. Part of the original story was The Warriors were receptive to releasing Gould from his contract. Not because they’re unhappy with him, but because with COVID there’s no way at present nor the foreseeable future he can do what they wanted for $800k p.a.

NRL Stats. Who compiles them and what is the significance? Take the PTB speed for example.  Defined as "from the time the referee calls release to the ball being played between the legs".  According to NRL stats we have been quicker than the opposition in all but one game this year.  Who does the measurement and how do they do it? I thought this unlikely but if true does it indicate that this stat by itself has limited importance?  Its more what you do with the ball that counts

For us the missing stat is tackle-breaks,

The team, particularly edge back rowers and centres have to run harder and straighter.

We sometimes need to shift the ball coming out of our end.

A lot of those quick play the balls are backs running one out on yardage sets.

Quick play the balls close to the opposition line would be less frequent.

Averillo and Wakeham are the right halves, Topine should be starting hooker, Daley 14.
We just need some patience and harder running.

The stats may be timed by the TV, they can use slow no and measure time accurately.
Eventually someone will make an AI program that can do it in real time.
Whoever does it now has a tedious job.

So... A few things...
Why does a ref need to call release after calling held???... it should be called held and defenders  make an effort drop off or are penalised... I hate seeing the tackler look to the ref for the sign it’s time to get ofd a player... hate it...
NRLol stats are like most other stats and are measured and reported to suit an agenda...

If it is defined as the ball played between the legs the NRLol is dumber than they look cos it should be from the time it’s played with the foot.... but oh, that’s right, that isn’t a thing anymore despite it being an actual rugby league rule...

Who complied them is irrelevant cos like all stats companies if they don’t reflect the desired outcome they don’t get paid to produce them anymore... and the stats that don’t reflect the desired outcome aren’t made public or are augmented anyway...

My fav at the moment is the NRLol saying players couldn’t possibly be more fatigued than usual despite thale players assertions cos of more stoppages for tries and other targeted apparently relevant stoppages... while at the same time claiming the game is faster than ever and this weeks rules are designed to keep the ball I play longer resulting in longer periods of sustained effort which are ignored....

Ive got a stat for ya... the NRLol have introduced 20 + rule changes in the past 20 years... the only good one was taking the corner post out of play.... 5% strike rate at beat...

Oh and another... of all the NRLolC members, fekk all of em played the game, and 100% of em think they put the air in a football...

#release!!!...

I'm just curious how do it

They’d take a sample and do the convoluted math from there...
But no way they’d go as deep as by ref, by tram, by dew on the ground, by coach, by surface...
Cos the NRL is an immature organisation when it comes to leadership and focused only on revenue... the leaders only focused on their next bonus...

Dogs PTB  quicker than all bar one opposition this year would vindicate the ‘set restart’ disparity....
Cos we always slow down the ruck and our opponents never do... And we are never dominated in tackles or fall on our backs...
Opposition teams jump off us so damn quick cos we are no threat with ball in hand... quicker they get off us, quicker they get the ball back and can score a try...

Dufty apparently unwanted by the Dragons next season.
Might be worth signing, unless the Fox is the preferred fullback.

Always liked him. He has x-factor that we desperately need. Comes with errors, but this team needs players like that to get back to believing in themselves rather than being too scared or not confident enough to make a play at anything.

We will never score points or win anything if we just hope the opposition makes mistakes.

I would prefer having Dufty at fullback and JAC on the wing (where he belongs).

I don’t think Duffy is gonna survive as a #1 wherever he ends up because of his chronic inability to be in position in defence. it’s not just bad technique, it’s nil awareness. Really he has no affinity for the position at all.

However, no denying his talent, he can do things with ball in hand wether running or passing that you just can’t teach.

I think he’ll end up #6. Definitely needs to get his defensive technique up to scratch and start putting his body on the line, which is why James Graham tore strips off him, but that he can be worked on and at least the bloke he has to tackle is right in front of him 9 times out of 10. I don’t think he’ll ever figure out where he’s supposed to be in defence at #1.

Would make an interesting option with Burton in the halves I think, if we could move on DWZ or somebody else on NRL money in the backs, otherwise, just no room.

I haven't noticed that, but I am not surprised, the defence of both sides was ordinary.
The Broncos compounded that with dumb errors,
If we play like we did against the Panthers we are possibly better than both of these sides.
