I thought that Melb were always going to win the game but Canberra were very Bulldog like by shooting themselves in the foot every time they had an opportunity on Melbournes line. You're not wrong about Sutton, dman,  it was absolutely sickening the amount of latitude he gave the Storm. If the Dogs were given that much leeway we would not be getting the spoon, even though we are a sh!t side. As far as Canberra go, if we had as many high shots as them tonight we would have had no forwards left on the field. CHN will probably get 3 weeks if the judiciary have any consistancy about them.

I can live with no cheese, but what I can't fathom is the constant "sack Barrett" threads around and about and people are are calling for Pays return. As far as Barrett is concerned I am not making a decision on whether I think he is the right coach for us or not until the deadwood, non-performers are released and the new players have been given time to "gel".

He doesn’t insinuate that at all. He does however allude to the idea that our cap money isn’t used correctly. 

And it’s set for ‘22 and will have an effect on ‘23, though we got enough time to deal with it.

What impressed me most about Gus was the talk about defence. He said the Bulldogs teams were always one of the best in this area. He mentioned Melbourne and Penrith currently being the best and talked about how bringing through juniors, helps a team to defend well. He also mentioned a number juniors should be brought through soon.

Anyway, hang on to your hopes if you want, but the longer you do the harder it’ll be to get over.

The Dogs have just signed a young 20 y.o. unit, a West Tigers junior named Mavoni Tuifua on a 2 year deal. Building for the future.

I wouldn’t trust him not to lie to fans. Or anybody for that matter. 

He said that people get attached to fan favourites. I thought that might mean that he was looking at moving on some of our players like Jacko, Elliot etc. not about recruitment. We should know by the end of the year either way. 

I haven't heard or read the Gus presser as I have been out golfing..  er ... exercising (yes..yes it was within the 5kms limit) so I will check it out soon.

But I'd like to think Micko is right and Gus is being cagey about his responses.

One thing is for sure. I'm not attached to any of the current players. The closest is Lewis and I like Thompson. The rest can go in my opinion.

But I AM attached to the cheese. I'd make him a franchise player and build the team around him. Burton, JAC and Dufty are a good start.

If we dont get cheese we need someone like him.
BBO will need to play long minutes at 9 and so JMK will either have to learn to play elsewhere in the forwards or get benched or dropped.

I like the way both Storm and Raiders use starting hookers who then move to back row and their more skillful hookers come in after 25-30mins and run amok at tired defenses.

It's the blueprint of how to play in this 6 again era.
We have a weapon in BBO. Would be perfect to get cheese as that starting hooker but if not, we can still do it. I just think JMK is the answer, that's all

Well saod ODF some fans would sack the coach every 3 weeks.
I am not as convinced about Baz as I was initially, but deserves a fair chance.  
Our attack looks better to me, defence needs a lot of work.

Like you HD I was more in favour of Baz earlier this season. I feel he has given his recruits far too many chances which they havent deserved.

I'm 50-50 on him now. Will be judged next year. I dont think the club should look to consider extending him until at least halfway through 2023. He doesn't seem like a coach that will be in high demand so no need to make any rash decisions. 

If things dont improve, I expect Gus to look for alternatives, if not play a behind the scenes role....

Another game ends with an unsavoury bunker decision. Normally wouldn;t care but Broncos were robbed...who were they playing? The Rorters who else.

It was very savoury....
It gives us a slight chance to avoid the spoon!

Sacking the coach just makes sure that recruitment is about to start again. It’s a waste of time for most teams. The truth is that all coaches pick players who fans hate. Even coaches who win grand finals. The hate Grimaldi, Hughes and Perry used to receive is hilarious. It happens to all teams.
