They were the best side for at least 3/4 of that one. They really deserved the 2 points for playing so well.
The penalty try was frustrating & ended up being the difference.
It was really bad luck Corey's pass to Smith on the wing didn't happen. That Okunbor break deserved a spectacular try at the end of it.
Really happy for Okunbor getting a try in the corner shortly after, he did his family & the fans proud. They crossed to Bellamy to show how frustrated he was that he was causing his players so much trouble.
I wouldn't want to be the idiot that put $5k on Storm with C'bury having 17points start...

Beaten by a grub team led by Munster.
Why do him and GOD9 get referee protection.

The storm were quite grubby. Every C'bury player tackled got hit in the head & a head wrestle, yet the only penalty for high contact was against Hoppa, probably the cleanest player on the field...

Great effort but they didn't win. Unlucky not to get the rub of the green. The storm were not bad, they gave us few opportunities and neither did the refs but we didn't win. We didn't get the 2 points.

They have to make up for it next week so I don't want to blow too much smoke up their arse...

Winning is all that matters.

He (Hoppa) gave himself up...alas the penalties against us all came at inopportune times in bad position. It some ways feels more like a win than a loss and kudos to Tolman...he gets a lot of stick from certain quarters but to be honest he was brilliant today. No one has even blamed it on Lichaa ...as yet anyway and that is a first.

There was a penalty for an unintentional crusher along the way too, but the point was the Storm were doing the head contact all the way deliberately.

They didn't win, but it wasn't a flogging by the comp leaders. They just couldn't quite finish it when it was nearing the end & that's the typical situation that brings the storm to life.

Clearly our players don’t bloody fake it on the ground milking it

Every other club does it..... the worst was that SOB Vunivalu’s tackle on Meaney

Seriously.... it was almost the same tackle that grub fwit Chalmbers did on Pat O’Hanlon..... I’ve hated that grub ever since then

It's a while since all the storm wrestling crap was banished from the game, thankfully, but what I noticed in this match was every tackled C'bury player was getting attention to the head, particularly when held on the ground. It was robotic, they were all doing it as sneaky as possible, so it's clearly something that has been trained into the storm defenders. If it wasn't a sneaky half-punch, it was pressure to the skull or back of the neck or some other crap the 2nd player in was trying to hide or slipping some extra contact in on the head when getting up. It's not a factor in the result, I just hate it & I hope they never make the grand final again. The C'bury guys did well to cop it on the chin & just get on with the job.

If Sleepmaker or Sealy are not sponsoring the Storm they are missing out on a massive opportunity as they are allowed to lay all over tackled players until Cameron Smiths alarm goes off. Bunch of chicken winging, crushering, cannon ballinging, nipple cripple, pee grabbing or whatever Bellamy does in private in the off season, Narcoleptics!

Ben Cummins? I think he is part of bellamy's pee grabbing, nipple grabbing house party in the off season!

Cameron Smith now that he has retired from rep footy makes me feel like he is a Blue who plays for the Roosters a. #$@!&%+-=T

Hopefully one day Bellamy needs a procotologist and he walks into the offices of Professor Johnathon Hopoate Esq for his exam!

Tony, I only have praise for the pups after that display. Dean Pay has shown that he really does have a grasp at FG coaching and the players are proving beyond a doubt that they can handle the rigours of NRL(ol) football. The only thing that got the storm over the line yesterday was FG experience, a lot of fortuitous calls from the ref and a ton of underhanded tactics in the tackles. I think we have made a statement and a lot of teams will now be wary of the Dogs.

And Melbourne get the penalties 8 - 4.  How do you figure that?

In the words of Benny Hill "How do you define the intangerine?" Unluckiest was Hoppa's at the end. But that was not one you could argue with. Certainly the leg pull against Munster was the defining one

Just the way it panned out, what was seen & what wasn't I suppose. It was nowhere near perfect, that's for sure.
Another example was Tolman being penalised for taking too long holding down a storm player, yet how many times did the storm do that for longer....
A few Canterbury guys left a few facials for some storm players to remember them by which weren't penalised either. Maybe it's the new let it flow policy...
At the end of the day Canterbury had their chances to win it, but turned over possession after line breaks or kicked out on the full etc. I didn't like the penalty try, but can't blame that or the ref for not getting the win. Good match though, they did really well, just fell short. Improving every week...

I just want to see the team maintain the same standards the same enthusiasm and keep building our game each week.
Do that and the wins and points will eventually come.
After a while it gets harder for young guys in the NRL, the opposition gives them more attention.
It is also going to be hard to maintain our style of play in wet slippery conditions.
I will be pleasantly surprised if our young inexperienced team adapts well.
Overall I am happy with the spine, replacing Lichaa with someone like Billy Britain, is an absolute no brainer IMO, and someone like Britain isn't going to be happy playing reserve grade. That is why we got Meaney and Cogger.
So I think there is a buzz around the club, I am happy and I want to see more of the same.
The players should know, just a bit better on a consistent basis, will get the wins and the competition points.
Next time Okunbor makes a break up the middle I hope Meaney, Cogger or Lewis trails him, if he had a support runner, we probably bag 2 more tries.
Next game will be different, but by building the team, I mean ticking all these boxes, so we take most opportunities each game.

Those were great busts from OK. It had to be a planned tactic but where was the support? Deserved a better finish for Jayden's good work ....hopefully Meaney etc stick alongside on those plays. Good stuff and plenty to cheer about with their style of play.

Those two breaks by Okunbor were very impressive...straight through the middle. Reckon a kick and chase may have been best option on second but easy to say in hindsight. still a bit at sea in defence but stayed on his man very well. Get angry mate...you will be a superstar.

Pass to Meaney and we score every time .. the players will know that ...

There is a lot of work for a fullback to do... but everyone loves scoring tries .. Meaney will know a couple of golden opportunities slipped by.

Unlucky not to win yesterday. Always the same story at Melbourne. If a team is on top they always get a roll on of penalties.  Just a few mistakes here and there that cost us but with young players that will happen. With more experience those mistakes will be fewer.

Tolman was tremendous, anyone that knocks him as a player has no idea.  Dutchy was very good just needs to do it most weeks instead of every now and then.  All in all everyone played very well.  Lewis was the best half by far but Cogger tackled well.
