+x+x+x+xI learnt in my 2nd year at University of Notre Dib, that to always look to purchase blue chip investments.... DWZ has been dropped from Penrith, now on the outer..... if there’s one player that runs with aggression & doesn’t take a backward step, it’s DWZ Surely the Dogs can pick him up on the cheap..... Ill add him to the list Great.... DWZ will be shortly announced as an Eel The Eels have moved Ferguson from wing to centre this week.... Back to the drawing board.... Hello James Roberts! He would be a good pickup. Solid, above average first grade standard player, wouldn't cost the earth. Where did you get your info regarding the Eels from? Actually think he is a little better than that and would love to get him...I guess he can play centre...may be missing his ex Penrith buddy CHN....if he were to come to the Dogs it would be shades of Krisnan Anu circa 2012 He makes too many errors for a seasoned first grader. Also if reports are that he is on or wanting $800k a season then there is no way i'd consider him. Not even close to that.

Looking at the stats, I'll be surprised of Napa or Jacko make the SOO teams, Napa is a slightly better chance.
Jacko is down on tackle breaks and defence, I think we need to think about whether he is going to play in the middle or on an edge.
On the edge, he needs to trim down and get more leg speed,,, middle is more likely...
I hope he can turn it around, champion bloke, but his form does seem to be dropping off.
He came good towards the end of last year, if this trend continues, we might need to reconsider the captaincy, Jacko might be a bench forward in a year or so..

+xSince when did AAMI surrender the naming rights of the Melb Storm and Victory home ground? It's now called Melbourne Rectangular Stadium. What a shocking name...... That's usually the name used when the sport being played there isn't allowed to use the sponsors name. Happens for international games and happens at all venues.

+xSome things never change JWH still the dumbest thug in the game. I only watched some of the first half (& 2nd half of the one before), saw JWH get Ponga twice, he sure had it in for him. When the cleaners were sweeping up after everyone left they found one of Pongas legs still sticking out of the turf...

Rorters player was given a penalty when he fell a fraction before a waist high tackle from Newcastle player became a tad high. But can't really show any empathy for Newcastle with that inane NEW-CAR-SELL chant echoing all night. It would be a nightmare to be a foreign spectator if at a close match between Newcastle and the Raiders.

I love watching a Des coached team look clueless when they are up against changing variables. Especially when their smartest player (DCE) is missing.
Titans just moved away from playing "normal" footy and torched Manly who had no idea how to adjust.
Its a hallmark of Des's coaching. He is good at getting a team to play to a set of predetermined rules or style. Once they are faced with change, they have nothing.
I always thought DCE single handedly won the 2011 GF and nothing I have seen from Des' return to Manly has changed my mind.
If you want to beat Manly this year, just play differently to what you normally do. Its 2 points in the bag.

I agree in that coaches like Des are good at fitness, defence and motivation but are not adaptable and don't add much in attack. Bennett is similar but more successful, as he is a bit more flexible and let's players play. All coaches rely on the fact that good players know how to play. In fact what bad coaches do is meddle to much in the attack and remove variety. When the attack isn't threatening there is more pressure on the defence. I didn't actually see that game just going on how Des coached us.

On the Dogs I am happy with how we are progressing.
The recent form of the Knights and Titans suggests we are competitive.
A win against the Storm would fully validate us as an improving side, I have a hunch we might do it. Similar to the Knights/Roosters a good start can make home ground advatage work.
Or if we are not good enough so be it. One concern is leading by 10 with 10 to go isn't safe territory against the Storm. But if they are leading us by 10 with 10 to go, we are only a slim chance.

Top game from Tyrone Roberts. Has actually been one of the Titans best all season and a player I always wanted us to chase.
No need now as halves is not a problem area for us, but he would have been a handy pickup as he is a match winner and smart player.
We really need to introduce 1 or 2 x-factors into our team. We dont seem to have any and we often look too unpredictable. CHN is probably the closest we have. Would like to get a gun centre.

Manly did ok in attack, but just didnt expect the Titans to attack the way they did.

I only saw the Roosters / Knights, I have always rated Conner Watson, he showed he is a very dangerous 14. He can play fullback or in the halves. At our club he would only come if guaranteed a start. Could he learn to defend well enough to play 9? If the answer is yes, he would be my top priority recruit. But in any case I expect Newcastle have him locked up. A good 9 would really take a team to the next level, a centre with pace or move Smith and add a fast, winger, promote Harper, he will be ready in 2020. What we then need is another backrower similar to CHN or for Jacko to wind back the clock. Regardless I think we are 2-3 smart recruitments away from being a top 4 side in 2020, it all depends on who we can sign.

That is a concern combined with the fact that we haven't been starting well, a bad start and BSG is a negative, a good start and it is a positive. Napa is honest enough to admit he is a big part of the problem, especially at the start of games. He needs a great first 20 mins to have any hope of playing SOO. I am sure that the motivation is there just not sure he can deliver. If he gets pumped it may help fire up the team. I also think the Newcastle and Titans packs are under rated by many NRL fans, our recent form was good against good opposition.

i sort of laugh @ this , dogs are cap dry & are after him wont compete on $$$ with these clubs The Wests Tigers are keen to land Dallin Watene-Zelezniak through a player swap, reports The Sydney Morning Herald. The 23-year old asked for a release from Penrith after getting dropped from the side, with the Eels, Tigers, Cowboys and Bulldogs all expressing interest in picking him up.

Technical question re Belmore ticketing....Does anyone know if the allocated seats are in the grandstand only or does it also cover the seats along the front of the grandstand (would have thought they were general admission). Want to emulate the old times on the quarter line railway end of the field
