HD, if we had a strong board/chairperson/CEO and both players feel the club didn’t stand up for them &
wish not to play for the club again, then option 3 is a must but it must be on our terms.... with so much speculation about our management team.... we’ll probably end up with nothing

We all moved on from the sacked duo.... now it’s been overturned, surely someone at the club with half a brain can make this situation turn into double bonus &
trade them for players we’re so desperately in need of...... a decent 9 & a decent half or backline player

EG.... Dragons want CHN.... fine, give us Cam McInnes & nothing less.

No.
Take Dufty.
He is diminutive

I'm leaning towards swap,,, but also talk it over with their team mates and CHN...

If any player in the team doesn't want CHN back, that is a no... if they all want him back, that is a maybe..

Why?
Half of them shouldnt and wont be there in 2021 or 2022.

I personally want CHN at the club.
He was one of few that plays the game the way I want us to play. It's no wonder he was hands down our best player.

He is the type of player who can have others follow his lead and someone you can build the team around.

Before making any rash decisions, the club and Barrett (if he is to be coach) should sit with him and discuss if he wants to be part of our rebuild. First they should ask Barrett but I suspect I know Barretts response.

I'm also warming to the idea of Barrett. He is an ex half and I feel, just like K Moore, his coaching strategies will come from the right place. He has a high chance of changing our style to something we desperately need.

He is also probably close enough to some younger Penrith guns and could be influential in swaying them to come our way.

Also.....If we start winning, there will be no need for the dumb looks in post match interviews!

I don’t understand why people think a swap or anything else if there is no contract...

CHN and OK may want to do the honourable thing and repay the club by coming back, or they might say screw you, you didn’t fight for me...

Or we might and probably should stand on our digs and say thanks but no... Don’t forget these blokes sh1t on the club, fans, and team mates out of pure selfishness...

It's not a bad move by Pay if true.
It allows him to leave with some honour and I reckon he can land an assistant role elsewhere.
Like Barrett, it wont be long before a coaching nerry go round happens again and he may be in favour once again after some good runs on the board as assistant.

IMO they shouldnt have anything against the club.
They knew the rules and knew the club had to act in defence of its house rules.

They didnt commit a legal crime and so if they are remorseful and want to pay back the club, I'm happy to give them a chance.

What I'm keen to know is.... after Mad Monday I could have sworn our club had part of it's fine suspended. So did we cop the full fine when these guys transgressed?

I still reckon CHN & JO won’t play a single game with us again.... they’ll be clubs wanting to do deals before the new transfer deadline

The most pathetic part of it all will be from the fans of the clubs they end up at. Yeah the same self righteous pieces of sh!t that pointed the finger at the Dogs and posted on social media, at the time, their disgust of CHN and OK having sex with "schoolgirls". The old 'it's all forgotten now boys, you're with us mentality'.

I’m hoping by 9am today or whenever they make it official about Pay... that useless Skills Coach is gone too effective immediately.

He’s been there 2 seasons, the basic ball skills of the players have regressed big time under his watch.... basic crap like passing the bloody ball, Tolman’s pass the other night along the ground the highlight of the year, Lewis’s horrendous passing game, our backline players lacking any ability to catch simple bombs or even catch n pass by drawing in defenders was so awful to watch.

For Dean Pay to surround himself with that Mounties guy as his assistant, the useless Skills Coach & then bring in Sherwin to spend some time with the halves whenever Shifty’s work would allow him too was a recipe for disaster.... surely some of the QLD Cup teams coaching set up’s we’re more professional than the pub team style set up Pay had going with us.

Blow it up, start again!

As for the players.... no more she’ll be right, I played sh1t last week & be selected yet again the following week.

No need to change the board yet BT.
Without them saying it, their job was to ride out the first 2 years after Des' departure and manage the SC.

Their problem however is that they didnt want to seek dispensation from NRL and back-end any contracts, so we lost a heap of players.

Now that the fans have had enough, and they are going into their 2nd coach, they pretty much have 1 year to turn the club fortunes around in order to get re elected.

Just about any improvement from here on will be an improvement. Cant get any lower. But I wouldn't be punting them willy nilly. They havent really done too much wrong.

https://www.bulldogs.com.au/news/2020/07/14/dean-pay-to-step-down-as-bulldogs-head-coach/

It is official....

In the end in spite of the weak roster, we saw enough of Dean to make an informed judgement..

It is best for both parties to move on...

I don't rule out him sticking with coaching, serving time elsewhere and coming back a better coach.
In fact a head coach role in England might be a good next step..

Nathan Brown was a better coach 2nd time around and  I think Barrett will be...

Time to reflect away from the heat of the battle is the best way to learn from your mistakes..

If we had a better squad, perhaps Pay gets better results and the benefit of the doubt,., but I still think he had a fair shot and could have done better with the available talent...

It wasn't an easy gig, but NRL coaching never is..

Pay may have even decided to step down to take the heat out of political in fighting at the club.
I think the board and Hill backed him for as long as they could while taking some heat for doing that, I don;t think that was a mistake, maybe 1-2 weeks too late but in the greater scheme of things, the right decision at the right time.

Everyone deserves a fair shot, but when they have had it, it is time for decisions.

Critics of the Dogs have no idea, we have played much worse than this in the past, and other teams have played worse.

Sure we are under performing for the level of available talent, but not by that much, sure the available talent is 3-4 really good players short of being competitive most games..

Sometimes we make dumb errors that give ourselves no chance...

But in sport I've see teams and clubs come back from much worse.., but only after they address the problems. the coach was the problem that needed immediate attention.

I don't mind Lewis getting another shot under the new coach and Wakeham getting a rest..

Even though I'll be very surprised if Lewis turns out to be a better half than Wakeham...

Both have things they need to work on...sometimes a player improves when there is a new coach, or after a few weeks out..

I'll be happy if Lewis simply doesn't bother trying to throw long passes.....

Wakeham needs to think about playing with more energy and authority...

I doubt Katoa will remain on the bench...

I'm not expecting a miracle, but it is another week we can tick off, and behind the scenes, we can start preparing for '21.

The last thing we want is to go back to the CEO and Chair bring media happy...

Board Member and CEO support in the media is generally the death knell for a coach...

The media are hammering us at every opportunity cos Bulldogs gets clicks... And going even harder now cos we don’t leak...

The Board has made the tough call on a bloke who was employed by the  Dibbies after giving him the benefit of the doubt...  Need to move quickly now to get a new coach and attract talent...

If they’d done it any sooner people would’ve ridiculed the decision to give him a chance... mind you the media campaign has been pretty consistent about giving him another ‘nother chance...

They were left a shit sandwich by your mates... They were upfront about the situation and it would take till 21 to be competitive in the market... Sadly Pay wasn’t able to keep us competitive on the field...

Yes, Lewis should see this as an opportunity to press his claims for a permanent spot. There are obviously aspects of his game that Georgallis likes.

I would still like him to run the ball more and demand it more from the hooker.

In fact both he and Foran should be putting themselves at first receiver more if JMK falls into habits of simply finding Tolman all the time.

There should be NO such thing as a settler run in the opposition 20m. If you are taking a hitup with no intention of busting the line and scoring or offloading, you are simply wasting tackles.

I wonder what Georgallis thinks of Tolman.
Someone I know is very close to and has SG as his best man so I might just ask him.

You can tell Pay is a nice guy, a lot of the players like him, the board like him he is popular in the club..

But ultimately he wasn't getting results, and political types in the club were agitating..

The fact that the new coach has slotted Meaney straight into fullback means we will not have to die wondering...

For Georgalis it is an opportunity to impress, good showing for a few weeks is a step towards a head coach job..

Apart form the money many seem to want the NRL coaching gig and that must be because they want the challenge..

So the replacement coach is motivated,  the players will probably welcome a change and an opportunity to impress a new coach and Pay will probably be relieved to get it over with..

Media and other fan bagging us for letting Pay go were either happy that we were losing, or are happy as long as they can criticise us.

Why are the media pushing the Barrett thing so hard???... Is it true???... Is it more work from the Dibbies trying to destabilise the club???... Or just the old Bulldog$ click bait???...

In all likelihood it’s not true...

Ill say it again, these hack grub germoulists have had zero % strike rate with rumours about our club since the new board was elected... zero %...
