+x+xI think they got the send offs right. Some of the sin bins a bit trigger happy. Robinson was right a few weeks ago when he said the only way they’ll get them out of the game is to start sending them off. And they do have to get it out of the game. NRL, clubs and players are massively exposed to future litigation if they can’t show that everything possible is being done under duty of care. General injuries, even serious, are part of the game and are an acceptable risk, but the head has been off limits for 112 years and if the game can’t show it’s doing everything possible to enforce it, an individual or class action is gonna rip billions from it. And I think there still will be for some historically, they’re coming. But The NRL’s got to put a line under any going forward. I guess it comes down to whether the game wants to survive in the future or shut down. It's like any job.... if you look only at the mortality or injury rate, you'll probably a strong enough case to NOT do that job. There is risk in opportunity, just as there is opportunity in every risk. I still feel that the AFL got it right (more so than league) when they introduced the "ducking" rule. It was afew years after they enforced a blanket high shot rule. If you now duck or slip into the tackle, the onus is in you as a contributor. It's like those pedestrians in the CBD who get too close to the kerb and get clobbered by the mirrors of a bus or truck driving perfectly within their lane. There has to be some sort of responsibility placed on the person who increases the risk of the incident and certainly some leniency for the person who was going about their business in a normal way. Zef's point is right, if the player making the tackle aims for the ball, the ribs or the waist, ducking doesn't come into it. If is a more effective tackle with more chance of dislodging the ball. But it is harder to execute because players have footwork and if the tackler gets his head in the wrong position, they may end up with the concussion. That is what Gus Gould was on about. Players will need to adjust, in the sport I played (hockey) getting the head out of the way of a fast moving ball was an essential survival skill. Getting your head out of the way when tackling is no different. They need to practise and the odd attemped tackle will still go wrong. But it is less of a legal minefield. Guys who keep getting their head in the wrong position will be advised to quit playing.

As an FYI both of his head shots were around waist height, ducking in one to go under a tackle, and the other on his way down after being hit by first tackler...

The tricky ones are falling or ducking, still 10 in the bin and one report, but charge should be minor.
Not a send off provided this is clearly established, if the bunker can't decide after 2 looks go with 10 in the bin.
Send off has to be player reasonably upright hit to the head or neck with force, particularly shoulder.

you can't change the fabric of the game - there needs to be greater penalties off the field - not breaking apart the functions of the play.. this and many other factors have taken the sting out of rugby league

bad enough with the 6 again rule etc etc etc i want to know the committee in his ear giving all this info.. he's throwing his weight around atm and rugby league won't put up with it!! NRL is not like racing rules and regulation you can't dictate to the game

So who will T Baz bring into the squad from outside the Top 30?
Schoupp? The winger Kiku ? Watson Heleta? Any of the Mounties props?

Possibles Davies and Daley because they can play 9/14. Heleta and Manu seem like hard running centres who can make yards and linebreaks in reserve grade.

My solution is we send out Cam Smith, the player does the same tackle on Smith, if they knock him out, play on, otherwise 10 in the bin.

So much is about giving teams the time to get back the 10. A period of hold down allowed which is variable leading to inconsistency. This period also used for the wrestle and the over emphasis Von high gang tackles. We would be better off with 5 metres, immediate release, all tackles treated the same and the PTB rules enforced.

Mdog, that's what I've been saying. Wind back the game a few years, fvck the 6 again oztag modball Rugba Leeg off, reset and have another look at what modifications are needed to ensure an entertaining game, with no thuggery, cheating or unfair advantages where the teams determine the result not the officials and put those tweaks into place. The direction the V'RLol is heading ATM the game will unrecognisable in a very short space of time.

Surely we have to win this week with the injuries the Titans have or this another team we will play into form.. ? Hopefully the refs can try help us again and send off a couple of Titans but it seems to have a adverse affect on us..

+xSchoupp to debut this week, sensible team selection. Napa for Odgen the other change. And Doorey’s in. I hope Doorey in particular plays out the year now. Idiot can stay on the bench or left right out, the latter being my pick at leat this week and a few more. I’d have him playing Reggies with the message he has to play three games without doing something stupid only Adam Idiot could do before he sees NRL again. Which means he’d never see NRL again, at least at The Dogs.

Or he is just trialing young players knowing the season is all about next year.

Players get plenty of opportunities to retain a spot, Once they are dropped or benched no guarantee of an early return. I think he is doing what I would do, build brick by brick, and sort out retention,
