Who was the coach for us in 2012? He coached that decoy play that was so good it was banned during the year.

I also don’t think he needs a team assembled for him. He put that Manly team together that won two comps. He only started to fail with us when management started putting restrictions on how he managed the football side of the club.

No doubt he should never manage a team entirely and does need the right staff around him to recruit players for him and help bring through talent. But the man can coach. And he is easily one of the best. He has never had the players that Bennett or Bellamy has had been able to not only compete but beat both on numerous occasions.

I’m still dirty on Dibb sacking Hasler. And the stupidity of the fans blaming him alone for the damage that was done. He needed to be better managed from the start. And nobody was capable of doing so.

Oh no…. Now you’ve started it Mick O

I bet right now… Dman has read your post, he’s looking in the mirror, his denim shirt just ripped, he’s turning green & will unleash the inner Anti Dib beast in him in reply

He’s spent several months playing and most likely training in the centres for a start...
But the Panthers are great for his development as half... just ask Ivan and the rest of those smug pricks that will hopefully go out in straight sets in the semis...

Enjoyed seeing Turbo dodge ‘Romys’ post try stacks on attempts on Weds night...

Maybe he's not a centre and playing him out of position will only hurt his development for next year. Maybe Ivan is trying to "de-tune" him.

If I have mock like powers. I’ll do my best to help us win on Monday. We have no chance to beat Saints and they should put 50 on us 😂

Seriously though on Burton. I feel for the kid. He is fucking unbelievable. He tried to drag the team with him and they just didn’t go with him. But he needs a good half and I think Flanagan could be the guy. Push Avo to fullback and then sign a hooker.

A game of two halves but a pathetic end to an otherwise odd game. I know that Cronulla were slowing down play to ensure the win but what pathetic stalling tactics and the reality of it p!ss poor sportsmanship.

I would like to see how a combination of Averillo and Burton would go.
It is unconventional in that neither is a organiser, but both are a major threat running the ball.

Our organisation will be better with a good dummy half and with practice.

I reckon the last two weeks have shown that The Panthers are a team and club built on talent alone. And that’s not insignificant, and it just may win them a Premiership.

But they haven’t got that “steel”,  for want of a better word, that both Easts and especially, really especially Melbourne have shown over the last decade or so.

Heard it said many times about them two, particularly Melbourne, doesn’t matter who’s out or how many of them, their replacements come in, know their role and do the job. Panthers haven’t got “it”, and it’s not a depth issue, because they’ve got plenty, it’s a steel issue, through the club. Scratch the surface and they’re pretty shallow - all talent, no heart.

Could you picture this Panthers team battling the injury toll that Easts have had this year and last? I reckon they would not be in the 8, wouldn’t even be competing for it.

The talent, and the skill in that talent, should be enough to win them a Premiership, easily. But I’ll make two predictions - They get a long term injury to Cleary alone or an Easts like toll to a number of players and they’ll slide out of the 8, even from here.

And they make The GF or even GFQF and find themselves a try or two down in the second half, they’re gone. The ghosts of 2020 will haunt their head, haven’t got the steel….. or maybe that better word for it I was looking for is BALLS.

I went to the Swans v Hawks game last night. First AFL game in about 2 years. Hawks were given juicy odds of 5.50 so I took them, and they put on a performance for the ages. Finally coach Clarkson got the team selection right and positional selection. Huge win.

Now I'm planning to go to the Dogs game on monday and feeling very confident. No mocks, no BS. Havent been to an NRL game in near 2 years and I reckon we can put in a performance and jag a win... I'll gladly take the 4.50 odds on offer too.

I think you're just pissed off of their "antics" and confidence levels and just cant wait to see them fail. You're just "looking" for reasons for them to fail. And you're clutching at straws.

That team has too many strike weapons when they are all back from origin. You dont only measure "steel" by winning with a number of players out. It's not the litmus test. Their winning streak is "steel" enough for me.

Their issue is complacency. But I'm not sure they'll be complacent in a GF again. The title is theirs to lose.

No it’s not, genuinely.

You tell me, do you think players can slot in and out of their team like Melbourne do? Do you think they could withstand an Easts like injury toll and still be in the eight?

I’ll put it to you, Melbourne with half or more of their team out through Origin would not lose to Tigers and Sharks in consecutive weeks, in fact wouldn’t lose to either of them. And I don’t think Easts would either.

And you know I’m right.

Dude, they lost by a point and probably played badly last night. The loss to Tigers had to come sooner or later. You just cannot win every game and your streak has to end some stage.

They will probably take these losses in good stead and be fired up for the finals.

Some teams need a GF loss or prelim final loss to get them ready for next time on the big stage. Others can win it on the day with no finals experience. It's just what happens on the day.

Melb has built a team on mental strength, accountability and football nous in key positions. Easts built a team on highest level of skill and nous, also in key positions but probably more of them.

The new rules favour the Panthers more so than Storm and Roosters. I expect them to not have any GF jitters and not fall behind like they did last year.

Penrith is the side that can a GF by 50

And you know I’m right.

It is easier to assemble talent than culture.

The coach and the team leaders need to set the standard, then it is partially down to the make up and personality of the team.

But I think the Panthers do have some good leaders, Fisher-Harris, Yeo, Martin, Cleary, Edwards, Too to some extent.

You can't take 4 out of 5 of the leaders out of the team and expect the same results.

With some luck talent alone is enough to win.

Add Luai to my list above, as long as all 7 are in the 17 I give them a chance of beating anyone.

Yeo is a very important and underrated player.

I think a few losses have done them a favor, a much needed reality check and deflation of the hype and they found some areas they need to work on.

Didn’t answer my question about comparison to Melb and Easts, because you know I’m right.

And I’ll put another one to you, if The Panthers lost Cleary for the season, where do you think they’d end up? I reckon not in the 8, regardless of the talent left on the field.

Melb especially, and Easts in general, write off one of their stars for the season, pick anyone you like, maybe even two, they’ll still be a genuine shot at the title.

Because they got balls. Panthers not.
