I see clubs like Marconi and Mounties and other social clubs around the country investing in youth and football if the cap was scrapped and a full football pyramid on pro / rel was introduced.
These clubs have the financial backing, and the player transfer fees on offer would entice them to invest unprecedented amounts into football in Australia

+xMarconi $45 million turnover and $3.3 million profit, yet some people still argue they should be allowed to be in the top tier but 'semi-professional' . Surely they could afford to pay young Australian players a reasonable minimum wage to train and play full time. Sick of the excuses from the greedy NPL board members just interested in profits over football. How many of these 'greedy NPL board members' have clubs which are turning a profit?

“AAP understands the working group has reached agreement over the contents of the report it will submit to FIFA and will conduct a final vote on Tuesday - however, FFA is believed to be making last-ditch attempts to derail the process” https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/ffas-congress-review-deadline-arrives/news-story/a28b77ca206f831f625dd33e87bda28a

I'd like to know what the FFA are doing as they try to derail the process. If true, they can fuck off.

of course they did. they will drag football through every piece of shit they can to keep the lowy's in charge. normalisation is overdue. FIFA have given them waaaay too many chances. why did they even bother contributing to the working group when they were going to sabotage it anyway??

+xSo how much did Lowy pay those State Feds? Money from the state federations that voted against Lowy. FIFA and the AFC have one more tournament to manage the FFA through with the mens Asian Cup in January. The outcome will be another standoff till then. It's now a matter of pride and losing face. And Lowy has lost the plot. I think that FIFA will amend it constitutional so that governing congresses cannot be incorporated.

If they wait until after the men’s Asian Cup they’ll be right on top of the women’s World Cup where Australia would be a noticeable absentee ..

If it’s true we’ve got a FIFA v FFA showdown coming up.
Most likely outcome .... another compromise

If the guardian article is correct then Steven Lowy will go down in folk law as the biggest insert word ... in Australian Football history

Can't see how this is derailed until the EGM vote actually happens in September.

+xIf the guardian article is correct then Steven Lowy will go down in folk law as the biggest insert word ... in Australian Football history I was just reading a post on another forum that put the idea that Lowy could be seeking to force FIFA to step in and implement the full restructure of congress rather than what is supposed to be the CRWG model which is an initial widening and a future expansion. The suggestion is that the CRWG model hands effective control to the A-League clubs in the short term and then after getting what they want the congress is expanded and it becomes almost impossible for anything to be changed. I'm not of the view that this is what is happening but its an interesting thought.

I'd be disappointed if there was any middle step tbh. There's no need if you're actually implementing real reform rather than just passing the parcel from one power group to another.
Just lay out the 30-50 seats for the new congress and implement it at the EGM. Next meeting big roll call and chaired by somebody from FIFA or AFC. 10 years of brawls to follow. Next iteration after that. Easy.

Next iteration after that. Easy. The process is that the EGM has to approve the changes to the constitution and once that happens the FFA is run according to the new constitution. The new members get to vote at the next GM which by the timing would be the AGM in November. The post I was referring to earlier that put the idea of an interim step is not correct as I understand it. My understanding is that the intention is to include in the new constitution provision for expansion of membership so that at any time a group meets the criteria they can become members quite quickly.

I want to see the CRWG proposal is. Hope that gets leaked. Then we can each decide if they got it right or not. The current board can still contribute and work with FIFAs request but instead, it appears they have simply played a stalling game.
If the FFA want to take this through Court, FIFA / AFC can simply kick them out of the Asian Cup. Can't see them win the court of public opinion there...

If the inevtiable conclusion of this farce is Australia attracting a penalty, I certainly hope FIFA has the sense to see Steven Lowy is the common denominator here.
