+x+x+x+x+x+x6th consecutive season of declining attendances? the average this year so far is 11,642 v last years average of 10,926 (6.5% up). But i don't know what the figures were for the comparative time last season. numbers do tend to drop after the new year. 11,986 after 8 completed rounds last year so it is 2.9% down. am I right that 4 of the 6 derbies are done by round 9 ? Yup, both derbies have been played twice Uh oh. Is the A-League in trouble? Do you touch yourself when you realise how funny your posts are?

+xPAX supposedly at 21600 for the derby, pretty decent considering the state of the league Another positive, which will disappoint some it seems. I just bought 13 tickets for a mate from Melbourne and 12 of us travelling from Sydney for Australia Day match. Highest pax 22,120, 5 weeks out.

Then add monster tv ratings on top of that.

No, I couldn’t. But cricket is the national sport and football isn’t hence their bigger crowds and viewing.
The point of relevance is that both crowds and viewing is down for the BBL also, which provides some perspective to what’s happening in football.

The bbl pulled almost 300k viewers for the melb renegades game on fox cricket..doesnt include streaming or fta...our games are now creeping out of the top 20 on fox which means ratings arent even available for some games.

@ southmelb
Comparing A League viewing to BBL, NRL and AFL is irrelevant. Those three codes got massive dollars for massive viewing, the HAL got less dollars for less viewers.

Not so much a comparison, more smashing the myth that everyone is ditching fox for streaming.

@southmelb
There was a major decline last year before streaming came on line so it’s not the cause, although I’ve ditched fox for Kayo this year and that’s likely a continued trend.
I still think footballs audience was split when EPL left Fox though, then you add all the BS surrounding the code and it’s no wonder people are disinterested.

A lot of season ticket no shows. City end had lots of empty spots.

It might not of been a sell out but it was a great game and hopefully as long as the games keep delivering the fans keep coming back. I will tell you it’s not that special a game when we played victory 9 weeks ago!

Fans have been turned away by the FFA, it will be very hard getting then back. Most active groups have disbanded only ones left that haven't changed or been disbanded are RBB and the cove tho the çove are favoured by fox sports and the FFA, while the rbb are still fighting
