+x+x+xAFLW at Geelong 18400 What will West Melbourne get? I wonder how many people A league teams would get if our games were free, like your games are. But that shows the difference between the business understanding of each code AFL: Launches the AFLW out of a bigger bucket and gets people to the games free. Win for the game A League: Waiting until a fully professional second division that pays for itself can be found before establishing a second tier Also, it isnt guarenteed that free tickets means a bigger crowd. Look at GWS for example. If the interest isnt there then neither are the fans. I doubt 18k people turned up to watch something they didnt like because it was free It is all so easy when you have $2 billion to waste on a competition only thought up to keep girls away from the Matilda's. It is also very easy for AFL to do anything with cheerleading fans in the media, free promotion, but you want football to have a 2nd division. When for 40 years no one from the NSL or A league had the will or means to establish one.

+xAFLW at Geelong 18400 What will West Melbourne get? They'll give West Melb a derby with the victory for their first game, probably get something similar.

1, 2, 3, 4 ...........998, 999, one thousand 😂
Attendance should mean who’s in the ground but many codes don’t report that number. There is no law or standard to follow either by all accounts.
Thankfully we have “fan counters” to save the day in the sokah though

+xLess than 1k attended this game me were counted Quick reminder FFA Attendance means actual physical number of people through the gates, not a mock up number added due to other factors Wait, are you saying you sat there and tried to count how many in attendance?

The league is boring as fuck. Crowds are sterilized to the core, until a better culture is fostered, until the league pyramid is open, until better players come in, until better players are developed, until transparency is achieved, this league will drop to all time lows. New franchises will not stop the rot.

+x+xAfter 16 rounds this season total attendance is down 42k. For their home games Wanderers are down 38k and for their away games attendance is down 14k. Between them the other clubs' total attendance is positive compared to last season. It will be interesting to see whether moving to the new stadium next season and renewing the squad will return Wanderers crowds up to previous levels. everyone is banking on this but I'm not. they will get a spike in their first few home games for the novelty factor, then return to the sub 10k crowds (unless they are fighting for the title, which seems unlikely). Agreed. Leaving SOP is labelled as the solution to our crowd woes but that's only a fraction of the issue imo. Attendance won't miraculously return next year. We need to back it up with on field performance.

Did Perth do anything different tonight like promotions or did people just come because they are playing well?

The mv sfc crowd last night was good by current standards, but 2 seasons ago crowd was over 30k for same fixture so there has been a fair decline.
