+x+x+xAnd as soon as I post that he gets an edge and is caught behind off Tremain. Victoria is just winning. Late in the third day, Vic still well on top. Meredith has a total of 5 wickets for Tas from the first innings and the second incomplete innings in the match. Meredith dismissed Pucovski for very few in the first dig, but last time I saw the score Pucovski was 88 NO in the second innings. Meredith looked the most likely.. yet it appeared to me he was underbowled. How did Puck handle the Meredith short stuff, Baggers?

Meredith was deadly on the first day by pitching it up. The two balls that dismissed Dean and Puck were top shelf.

South Australia has taken the drastic step of dropping Ferguson and Cooper from the shield team, the two most senior batsmen in the team. Kelvin Smith and debutant Brad Davis. Cooper is perhaps a little unlucky as his average this season is around his career average, he has scored centuries and is the side leading run scorer. However he has failed in all four innings since the shield season resumed

Does he not want to play for Australia in any format ever again?

+xSilk and Doolan see off the first session unscathed. Silk goes on his lunch score. Big blow. Doolan the anchor.. the rest have to bat around him. In for an enthralling final two sessions.

Cooper's average is very poor but it has been good enough to keep him in the SA side before now. If you mean Ferguson has scored a lot more runs than Jake Lehmann, I don't think that is true this season, but yes Ferguson has been a very good FC batsman for a long time. However he has thrown in a few bad seasons and this season is one of them.

Fergo has not been the same since his cruel dumping after a solitary test. He had waited a long time for his chance and others had been given an extended run. Must have gutted him.

Tigers hold on to deny the Vics. Doolan's 204 ball 88 was pivotal.

Quick turn around between rounds. Penultimate round starts with Bulls and Redbacks at the Gabba. . Blues/Bushies at picturesque Drummoyne Oval tomorrow. Pity it is a 2 buses/2 trains two hr trip for me. Also tomorrow the Tigers play host to the Warriors in Hobart.

The woes of Matt Renshaw continue. Out for a duck. Just can not get an innings going.

+xThe woes of Matt Renshaw continue. Out for a duck. Just can not get an innings going. Yes, he is a struggling. No Ashes tour for him. Burns might also be putting his Ashes spot in jeopardy while Labuschagne is not making any claims for a spot even though 36 might be worth as much as 50 normally. Queensland now 7 for 97 after Gannon has just been run out.

Tom Andrews, left arm orthodox spinner, has taken 5 wickets, really destroyed Queenland on a pitch seemly without not many demon

7/67 in reply to 115 on a pitch which really is not that bad.

Load up the matches and what do I find, 3-90, 3-64, 5-58. No one is scoring runs. The Queensland - SA game could be over within two days. What has happened to our batsmen?

Pathetic efforts from most of the batsmen this round. Two matches completed without a score over 200. Only WA, twice, has made more than 200.

Tasmania made 402 on the back of Wade making 134. This is the only century of this round of Shield cricket. Surely he must make the Australia A squad and he could be the second wicketkeeper and back up batsman for the Ashes squad.

Western Australia squad: Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Jake Carder, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Sam Fanning (r), Cameron Green, Jayden Goodwin (r), Liam Guthrie, Aaron Hardie, Bradley Hope (r), Josh Inglis, Matthew Kelly, Simon Mackin, Mitch Marsh, Shaun Marsh, David Moody, Lance Morris, Joel Paris, Josh Philippe, Jhye Richardson, D'Arcy Short, Matthew Spoors, Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Sam Whitman.
Some surprises with Will Bosisto and Clint Hinchliffe losing their contracts. Expect both to get interstate offers. Bosisto is a former under 19 captain while chinaman/all rounder Hinchliffe suffers playing on the spin graveyard WACA.
