Now Usman plays with one hand on the bat after playing with soft hands and playing late most of the time.

Usman dropped at slip, resulting in an undeserved four!
Poor shot selection with a cut too close to the body.

I hope I don’t speak too soon, but Paine looks more composed than the other Aussie right handers, Finch and Handscomb.

Hopefully, these two can take a few singles to upset the Indian rhythm.
They have to keep changing the field with a right and left hand batting combination. And, keep changing the field with different game plans.

That's just a pressure wicket. Bumrah was putting so much pressure on that Head had a swipe at the first ball from a new bowler. Absolutely fantastic bowling from India.

We are 3 down for 160 in front, yet India seem right on top.
After tha wild Head slash/ cut, we are 4 down for 163 in front!
We are going to lose a match we should’ve won the way we are batting.

+x+xMarsh went for a wild pull shot and under-edged to the keeper. So poor shot. I can see at least two changes to our batting lineup for third Test. These two are patiently building a meaningful partnership. Need them to be here at stumps.

+xGee, we’ve played and missed a lot! We’ve been very lucky. We should’ve lost many more wickets. I think India have bowled just a fraction too short so the deviation the have got has just missed the edge by a fraction. Another foot close to the batsmen and I think they would have run through us. Still they are bowling very well and showing more skill the Australian bowlers.

+xBumrah is an absolute animal. What a spell that was. Fast 145kph, accurate stuff, on the stump every single ball, over after over. Even if he only got the one wicket he put so much pressure on that bowlers at the other end got the breakthroughs. Handscomb should be dropped after this. He's way too talented a player and to waste it with a technique that won't work in test cricket is such a waste. Shaun Marsh on thin ice too. If Finch is injured we absolutely must bring back Renshaw. Cannot bring back Renshaw when he is totally out of form. Not going to help the team or be fair on the lad. Burns is the only option, playing quite well, although no centuries this season. Or Khawaja opens. I agree Handscomb has to be dropped and I would drop Marsh as well, especially if we don't win this test. Burns, Harris, Khawaja, Head, Patterson, one of White / Maxwell / Wade, Paine, bowlers. EDIT: If Finch is fit then he can bat 6.

+x+x3 down for 134 in front, with Finch Retired Hurt. I wish I was more confident. Kohli made it look like a benign pitch. It was when he and Rahane were batting.. the life has returned in the latter part of today. I too am losing confidence. Finch may not be back so all is up to these two and Paine. I missed Marshs dismissal? A good ball or a poor shot?

I saw Renshaw's hundred at the SCG two years ago and he looked the absolute business. I can't understand why he hasn't been given more opportunities. He's an old school grinder like Pujara. I rate him higher than Bancroft and Finch as an opening batsman.
Really baffling to me why he hasn't been a first choice opener for the past two seasons.

For mine Bumrah has been the pace bowler of the series.
Renshaw may not be in his best form, but he is very young and has had a very good defence.
He has the class and technique at his best to be a long term Test cricketer.

Handscomb beaten by a Sharma ball moving in -LBW.
His bat and pad were too far apart, as the ball went through the gap.
I saw someone else post one of our top six must score 100. I can’t see any of them having the shot selection, concentration or technique to achieve it, apart from Usman and Head.
Their four pronged pace attack has bowled well.

+xHandscomb shocker. No foot movement. He is a liability. Has to go. The life looks to be back in this deck. Mr Hyde has returned.

The top of his finger seems to be badly split, which might keep him from batting for a while this innings. However a break would be far worse.

Tea taken slightly early with Finch being hit on the finger and in a lot of pain. A broken finger would be a disaster for him. Burns surely will replace him if he cannot play the next test.
