@highkick
I’ll be summarising all the great suggestions posted in this thread into an easily-digestible format to be submitted to KA/InsideSport.
The thread has only just been created and is already seeing a huge amount of engagement which is very encouraging.
I’ll give it a week to ensure everyone has had enough time to contribute and then go from there.

I think merging rumour mill and state league into australian football is a good idea. Maybe merge asia and world football.

+xHave to disagree about objections to political posts if they're related to football. Football everywhere is riddled with politics and Australia football is no different. If it weren't for some of the more well connected posters such as Gyfox explaining the Byzantine processes and Machievilian machinations of the federations, the FFA and the rest of them I wouldn't understand half of what and why anything happens in AF. Agreed. Politics is in every sport and ours has plenty And it should be discussed - absolutely. We most can agree for the better outcome for our beloved game or have robust debate. Whereas government politics its a terrible mosh pit. I reckon get rid of those threads - we all have our varying opinions just like football but this is another level and the differences get more personal, posters then make a picture of X members ideals in their minds and posting in other areas can have that added bit of intent to niggle or a attitude way to reply. I'm sure there is countless dedicated forums to venture elsewhere, we are all things Football.

What's killing it is allowing 'a slap in the face to the nuevo new dawners' every single post.
And too many personal attacks.
As for the articles joffa posted - how about posting the headline and first two paragraphs then a link. It's robbing writer's of income.

That does my head in! I find it amusing. It's just a silly tag line. The forum isn't going to magically rejuvenuate because of some surface changes. Face it, the migration to social media is the primary cause of whatever issues are perceived to be wrong with the forum.

I've looked at it and taken it the same way. Especially as it's easy to scroll past. Have had some reports but not really a huge volume so didn't realise it was bothering people so much. Will take a firmer stance on it from now on.

1. The old FFT website 2. Aussies Abroad info and rumours 3. I'm not sure how it can be improved but I'd hate to see it go.

Yep, its good to see the forum seccos taking strong action against "troublemakers". We all want a family-friendly environment. Good to see this place finally towing the company line. FFA would be proud.
Perhaps the forum could introduce themed rounds?

+xI joined way back in the early 442 days, when Joffa was the inspiration. I was here under another name, which also had Canberra in the title, for a few years, then with no Canberra side in the A-League, drifted away. I came back after a number of years away in the long lead up to the last World Cup, maybe in mid-2017, as I love the Socceroos and also for the discussion around Canberra possibly getting into the A-League again. I have no interest in the A-League now and only am interested in the Socceroos. When i have tuned in lately, I have noticed an awful lot of bitter twisted freaks, pushing all sorts of nasty political crap. Both left and right wingers. They should bugger off and find a political forum. I don’t, sadly, have any ideas how to energise the forum but will give it some thought. A bit bit like you, my interest in the HAL has declined because a local Tassie team, with an excellent bid, was rejected, CH. I always wondered why Tassie locals didn’t support the HAL more passionately, but I’m starting to perceive the HAL like them.

I don’t want to derail the thread, TSF, but the media is in a shocking state ATM. The implication about Joffa’s C and Ps, is that the media is a monolithic paragon of virtue. It isn’t. I’m a dedicated political activist. What I hear speakers at rallies and demonstrations say, and how many attended, and what is reported in the media, are very different. I loved Joffa’s C and Ps. Scotty 21 posted heaps of C and Ps and nobody complained.

Perhaps the forum could introduce themed rounds? lets have a PC round where we all agree with each other and sing kumbaya, the love that would ooze out of this place would bring people back in their gazillions!!!!

That does my head in! The perpetrators are being warned. It's funny how some of the "old-timers" recall how much worse this place was in the past for trolling and abuse yet there were significantly more posters and higher traffic. Now it is much tamer, traffic is dropping and the best solution is to restrict free speech and non-conforming opinions further, I mean imagine getting warned for saying nuovo new dawn, talk about being petty and thin skinned. Are mods planning on releasing a list of approved comments, sigs & opinions so posters know what is OK?

But imo But it’s not clever or funny. It just drags the place down. Would you talk Football in a pub to somebody whose value to the convo was that? He might be a lovely chap and if he is he’s selling himself short :)
