Hopefully we beat them comfortably but a draw is enough if we beat Jamaica.

We have been a lot better than them in the last 2 years but they looked good against Jamaica. Much better up top and at the back.

Nz have been amazing against the Dutch. 2 big chances, 1 hit the top bar and the other a fantastic save from the Dutch keeper from long distance. Erceg at cb has been a beast along with the rest of the defense. Amazing what a decent coach can do with very little.

If milicic persists with the high line 3-1 brazil, if he realizes it is the issue and sits back 3-1 matildas. I hoping its the latter, but it will most likely be the prior

Sadly, even if we win we could still end up 3rd. Hope for better, but it really is a must win game. Brasil, Italy and us could all end up with 6 points and Jamaica with zip.

Me too, I'll be watching...
the good thing for us in the last game against Jamaica is that most of them will be tired. They don't have much to choose from off the bench and they are not use to playing games so close together. If we can put 4-5 or so past them after a win against Brazil, we could end up on top on goal difference.

I'll set the alarm for it, grab the mobile flick on OS. If the match is good I'll then get up cast it on the big screen, if not I'll fall back to sleep lol....... huddo I'm with you having watched our Italy game. Italy on the counter had us in short numbers. What annoyed me more especially the 1st half was our persistence with playing out from the back. At times it was playing with fire around the box area was an accident waiting to happen, triangles that was looking all too close for an Italian intercepting. It didn't have to play out this way every time. Here we have one of the best women players in the game, Kerr, who can run on a through ball at speed and really have a go. Why we didn't mix it up enough and fly up a long ball or 2 for Kerr to challenge surprise's me. In the end hindsight is the wonderful thing. Kerr's pen, should have been a dead set gimme imo but I noticed watching her line up you could see by her eyes where she intended to go and their keeper picked that. Just ucky she couldn't hold on and came back perfect for the 2nd bite. That set the precedent - Italians never looked back in the end.

Clare Polkinghorne, Caitlin Foord and Lisa De Vanna all picked up issues in the loss to Italy, and weren’t able to join in training on Wednesday

+xIf milicic persists with the high line 3-1 brazil, if he realizes it is the issue and sits back 3-1 matildas. I hoping its the latter, but it will most likely be the prior Milicic record with u23s, 2 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses. Is Milicic a decent coach with that record? So far lucky draws against France and England, big losses to the USA and the Netherlands. Ange-ball being played again. FO with that.

We were also terrible defensively in the cup of nations also against South Korea, Argentina and NZ.
with polks, foord and devanna potentially out, we are left with
Williams Carpenter/Kennedy/Catley/Simon Yallop/VanEgmond/Kellond-Knight Raso/Kerr/Logarzo
Potential subs Fowler for Kerr Gielnik for Logarzo Gorry for VanEgmond Harrison for Yallop Luik for Kellond-Knight Allen for Carpenter Roestbakken for Catley or Simon Arnold for Williams Micah for Williams
id definatley trust roestbakken more at LB than I would Simon though.

Rather sad that we have to try and scrape into the next round via 3rd place.

I'll be up for it.
Logarzo didn't show much against Italy. I reckon throw Gielnik in, has shown a knack for scoring goals and offers something different with her height.

Gielnik doesn't really track back though, just another impact sub on offense.

Good article on the poor setup of our midfield and the importance of Gorry: https://www.espn.com.au/football/club/australia/2751/blog/post/3872974/katrina-gorry-is-the-answer-to-australias-world-cup-problemsThe midfield clearly didn't work against Italy. Hopefully we see some changes.

POSSIBLE MATILDAS LINEUP: Lydia Williams; Ellie Carpenter, Alanna Kennedy, Steph Catley, Gema Simon; Elise Kellond-Knight, Emily van Egmond, Caitlin Foord; Hayley Raso, Sam Kerr, Chloe Logarzo.

yer koff time sucks But I'm looking forward to it tbh. I'm sure whoever is int he starting line up knows whats at stake. They all need to stand up and deliver - simple really. I'd prefer a win but take a draw worst case scenario. I have OS so no worries but a fellow worker said he heard FOX was showing the game as well, anyone confirm ?

After reading the Ante Jukic article I'd be replacing Van Edmond with Gorry. And I'd include Yallop at the expense of Logarzo.
