Painting over some big cracks.
Two games in a row we have had two goals scored against us by teams that are not top teams.  Don't see us progressing any further after getting out of the group if we can't tighten up the defence and being miserly.
We beat a team which is pretty crap, by a lucky goal which should have been disallowed.

On another note, alot of people are getting ahead of themselves in terms of what the victory means. Few points.

1.brazil have won 1 of the last 10
2.they have not beaten a european, north american, or asian team( with the exception of jamacia) outright since 2016.
3. In all that time they have never scored 2 goals.( besides jamacia)

And this is only from 5 minutes of investigating.

Im all for a matildas victory and i hope we go all the way, i just think perspective is in order.

I doubt anyone would get ahead of themselves from 1 grp win at this stage but it was an important one against a aging good team as we all know.
Moral boosting.
Hoping the girls get their heads down more from this and carry on with better conviction hopefully.

Australia - Round of 16.

If we finish...
First in group - Face Nigeria, China or Chile most likely.
Second in group - Face Norway most likely.
Third in group - Face France or Germany most likely.
Fourth in group - eliminated

Have Brazil to win by 1 goal over Italy and us to score 4 goals over Jamaica. We would finish top on goal difference.
or
Have Italy draw both Brazil and Jamaica. Brazil would end up on 4 points, Italy 5 points, Australia 6 after a Jamaica win.
or
Have Italy lose both games. Brazil and Aus 6 points, Italy and Jamaica on 3 points.

What about if Australia defeats Jamaica 4-0 and Brazil defeats Italy 2-0 ?

I was just thinking about that, it'd be hilarious. All three of Australia, Brazil and Italy would be tied on 6 points, and also on +4 GD, but the Matildas would come through in first thanks for 8 goals scored compared to 7 for both Italy and Brazil, who would only be separated by H2H.

Ages ago, something similar happened to me playing the EA Sports World Cup computer game. My team got 6 points and didn't make it out of the group. I thought at first that there was a glitch with the game lol.

This would be hilarious. But the four best third-placed teams go through in this tournament. So I don't think there'll be any huge issues in Group C unless something very unexpected happens.

My guess is that the Matildas will qualify in second place and play the Norwegian girls in the next round. It's not a done thing yet, though.
