+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSHIELD Round 2: Bulls v Redbacks - Brisbane Blues v Tigers - Sydney Warriors v Bushies - Perth Blues with usual suspects. Bulls have promoted FL triple century maker Bryce Street and promising quick Xavier Bartlett. Dumb Mitchell Marsh out.. Aaron Hardie in. Mike I am watching the Bulls/Redbacks match as I have had it with our archaic thinking selectors. They have dropped Harry Conway after his 10 last match. How many wickets did Starc take.. a solitary 1. Abbott also took less than Harry yet he is the scapegoat for the inclusion of SOK.. are two spinners even needed on this postage stamp ground.. this is not the SCG. Looks decidely green to me. Henriques continues to be picked in favor of a younger more promising batsman.. and Nevill wont step away from the game to give an emerging keeper his time in the sun. Who are the selectors for NSW Baggers? They really do make some strange decisions. I would have put Conway ahead of Abbott, who seems to me to be a bit more of a limited over bowler, more so than a 4 day player. I can understand Starc bowling afterall he has 52 international games under his belt so you would expect him to eat up sheffield shield players. I think his dropping has affected his bowling in a mental aspect, trying too hard to impress. Harry will be shattered I expect.. 10 fer and then a massive kick in the guts! Then mentally Starc is as weak as p*** Mike. The only time he sparks into life is when someone bags him unmercilessly.. such as Warne has done in past. The Australian cricket team does not want mentally fragile cricketers. Yes he shud be eating up Shield players but he aint.. one solitary wicket last game.. again he has failed to strike in his opening spell today. Abbott is inconsistent and yest he is better suited to white ball. Has a good record in that format. No place for the mentally weak. Playing 2 spinners is also going to hurt NSW now that they're bowling first, probably not going to see much turn, and going for easy runs currently. Drummoyne Oval not really a Sheffield shield standard oval IMO. Gannon gets the all important Travis Head for a duck. SA scoreboard looks like a shooting gallery. Big difference in the pitches around Australia, The Gabba tests technique. Noticed Lehmann saying Burns should be the opener for Australia based on the last round, but it is hard to be noticed without the big scores, which are hard to get at the Gabba. Good to see Bartlett gets an opportunity, but personally I'm not sure he is ready yet. Did you read my account why they are playing the game here? The SCG centre square was churned up after the rugby league GF.. hello that was played almost two weeks ago yet officials said at the time of my writing that they only discovered the extent of the damage the day before. Other than the SCG and Bankstown Oval Sydney lacks FC sized cricket grounds. Time another was built. All the new stadiums are being catered for the footy codes. Bugger all for cricket. Like you say the Gabba tests a technique. So does the Bellerive pitch. I'll be watching a game live there shortly. Head fails on these types of decks so for mine he is not a lock for the summer. Carey is no doubt heir to the national gloves but he has to avoid not showing the selectors he is being dismissed playing a T20 shot. Starc showing some form today. He still cant strike early. Three late Bulls wickets to the express man Wes Agar. Is anyone keeping an eye on J.Richardson’s economy rate at the waca? 27 from 15 at 1.8. Yep. He keeps on impressing. Just broke this big partnership with the new cherry. The trouble is, Richardson's first few games have been at the WACA. What is his record like at other grounds? He’s not got the height to get a lot of bounce on flatter wickets, but he should still be able to deliver decent pace.

+x+xAnother promising youngster Bryce Street with a FC 50 on debut. Is he the one who got like a million runs a few weeks ago, Baggers? That is the man Bob. Yeh a lazy 345 in a Futures game. I am excited by the promise being shown by a handful of kids with the willow.

Bloody joke aint it. What sort of message is this sending Harry. Is sending others the message that you can be mediocre and still get picked for your state because of your reputation. Referring to Abbott not Copeland. He too has had his fair share of gut kicks. What more can a bowler do than take 10 wickets?

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSHIELD Round 2: Bulls v Redbacks - Brisbane Blues v Tigers - Sydney Warriors v Bushies - Perth Blues with usual suspects. Agar's pretty decent too. Put the brakes on the Bushies. this is a dead thread. dunno why I waste my time There are always people travelling and busy with work, Baggers. I always learn a bit about games from this thread, even when I don't post. Absolutely, Baggers. He’s not got the height to get a lot of bounce on flatter wickets, but he should still be able to deliver decent pace. JRicho is no slouch. I read somewhere that he was the quickest graduate of the DK Bowling Academy. Patttinson also attended it. As I see it JRicho's main asset is not pace but his ability to swing the ball both ways. He also often hits the seam. As he has an economical action he shud be a part of our attack for many years. Cat and mouse Pattinson and Marsh at the waca. Siddle bowling a decent line, too. Philippe showing decent patience and judgement. Philippe showing maturity with that knock. Reckon Langer will be pleased... Absolutely. I’m hoping a result can still be fashioned out of this game. Only a day and a session still to play, it will depend on how quickly the novice WA quicks can get the wickets.

+xMeredith nails Moie and Nevill off consecutive balls. Now he has yorked Smithy with a ripper. . Three wickets in 4 balls. What do you think of Meredith against the Blues, Baggers? You’ll see him live in a few weeks.

The delivery he bowled Nevill with was top shelf. Has he found the secret to remove the immovable Steve Smith.. bowling him thru his legs. The look on Smithy's face was classic.

I also rate the 20 year old..Cameron Green. JRicho sends Harris back to the sheds for 7. Just the start the Warriors wanted. Another one before stumps.

One point made is we have too many bowlers knocking on Test team door, but few batters.

+xAny thoughts on Test team prospects? What about you DC. Who do you like. Already the big noise is for Shaun Marsh after his double yesterday. Truth is many of his runs were from mistimed drives and dabs thru or past slips and gully. On another day they'd have been snaffled. No he has had his chances and failed miserably in a Baggy Green cap.. time for another to step in.. Pucovski gets my vote. I'd like to see more middle order players stepping up in shield to put pressure on incumbents Head and Usman. Tom Cooper is one but he has oozed inconsistency all his career after promising so much as a 20 year old in his home state.

Nice little spot in the Prindiville stand behind the bowler’s arm. My little boy played on the hill with Sean Marsh’s son and was thrilled to get an autograph from his favourite player, Hilton Cartwright. Maxwell was decidedly grumpy when asked to sign the cap. My meetup group also got a plug on the tv commentary. :D WA definitely has used up too many overs batting and put unnecessary pressure on their bowlers. I also thought it wasn’t the smartest tactic by Richardson last night bowling bouncers and forcing the umpires hand to call an early end to play due to bad light. They will start early today but no guarantee the over rate will allow them enough time to roll Vics over, esp if Pucovski and Maddinson get a partnership going.

Are you at the match Bobbie. If so wave at the camera. Has WA (why drop the Warriors name) batted too long? SOS used up a whopping 430 balls for his excellent double. I was indeed for awhile on Sat and Sun. Next time dont bother asking Maxwell.. he is hardly a special player. yep Marsh batted too long for glory. Still it did give us a glimpse into what to expect from Philippe when he wears the Baggy Green at some later date. A very mature innings and most welcome by me.. one of his most ardent fans.. Shane Warne is another and says Josh has to play in the summer in some format.

I too was wondering why Agar was bowling when the quicks needed to finish things quickly and win by an innings. As it turned out Agar's economy was good for the entire match. He certainly has improved his red ball bowling. That is about the tamest WACA track I have seen for some time.
