WU are shaping as the kind of disaster that will make us all think of Fury and Gold Coast fondly as flawed successes. Seriously, this is looking like the most calamitous decision those morons at FFA have ever made, and that is saying something. With WU, Melb City and CCM all hovering variously just above or below 5, that we looking at an average season attendance south of 10k. In fact, those 3 clubs have excelled themselves by taking us all the way back to NSL level attendances. Just what we need with the TV deal running down. I really thought this would be the season that the negative metric trends reverse. Given that the football has stepped up in standard, I'm at a loss as to what the A League does to turn things around.

I would love to see what David Gallop puts on his CV about his tenure at FFA.

Wow! attendances in free fall. Already below last year's average of 10,877.
Definitely headed for sub 10K.

+xDumb scheduling having it late sunday on the same weekend the cricket is in town.. I don't know whether the cricket was or wasn't on as i haven't watched it since about 2002 but I do know the scheduling is appalling. This is the 2nd of 3 home games straight. If you include the cup final we have 5 out of 7 home games People start choosing when this happens and all attendances suffer. Next weekend will be our 3rd Sunday night game in our 5 league home games. It's just a clusterf**k really. I didn't go coz I was sick all week and no way was I going out in the cold and wet. Adelaide is a VERY sleepy town on a Sunday evening at the best of times.

+xi really hope city surprise people on friday night we apprenley have 11k members, playing well and first game against bruno City’s membership number has never made sense though - they are one of the clubs rumoured to give pet and dead relatives membership status as well as counting both elbows and the occasional knee as members.

Wouldn’t surprise me that a number of grassroots clubs get given free memberships but those kids aren’t going. Need to convert that somehow.

Free memberships don’t count on the tally though - there’s a minimum figure the recipient has to pay before it can be counted as a membership.

+xCITY VS adelaide 8k (hopefully) wellington vs wsw 20k (eden park) sydney vs brisbane 12k wu vs victory 10k (4:00 is not a bad time and it's first victory away game) adelaide vs newcastle 8k (crap timeslot but adelaide should be doing better) I'm sure there will be over 10,000 this week, but 4pm on sunday is still a shit time when you have to travel to Geelong. If you get the VLine home, and then a connnecting train from the city, you're not getting home til 8-8:30pm. Derbies in Victoria should be on Saturday. +xthe club sent out letters offering premium seats to previous members that have not been to a game this season so at least they are trying! if they were really trying, they would be selling GA memberships for $180 instead of $280. And lets not forget how they're gouging Victory fans at the Xmas derby. Victory are guilty of this as well. $29 GA for home games, but we have had 2 for 1 offers leading up to every home game. Why not start at these prices to begin with?

I havent seen this regarding A-league club memberships.

I've got no idea how City can boast these membership numbers with the attendance they get.

Why not start at these prices to begin with? Try 6pm on a Sunday for that fixture against Western United. I was surprised with the amount of City supporters who actually went to that game. The scheduling this season is really confusing and stupid at times. I agree, all Victorian derbies should be on a Saturday (if involving Western United) or Friday (just for Victory and City). I also agree with the pricing of memberships. More so for City, they really should take the prices down if they want to try increasing the numbers, but yeah even clubs like Victory too. No club is in the position where the game is always sold out or the stadium full, so I don't understand why they don't try changing prices to try bringing attendance up.

No club is in the position where the game is always sold out or the stadium full, so I don't understand why they don't try changing prices to try bringing attendance up. ticketing is a massive issue in the league. I harp on it all the time. I saw an ad on facebook earlier today promoting $15 BBL tickets. We can and must do better. some people claim that the ticketing prices are set by the governing body (whoever that is these days). i call bullshit on that. If Victory can offer 2 for 1 and City can charge $55 in the away end for a derby, then its clear the clubs are responsible for setting the prices. As for match scheduling, I get that TV deserves to have some say as they help pay the bills, but there needs to be more common sense. it makes more sense to have 6pm sunday games in Brisbane or Perth. And if you have a cricket test on in adelaide, don't give AU a home game that weekend. and FFS, don't have all 3 VIC teams play at home on the same weekend.
