hurry up A-League at least we should see some pre-season games soon.
Does anyone reckon that even though its a pre-season match against victory could we see ALL four stands open for that game rather than just the Western stand only? Thoughts? Depends when the game is and how much it is advertised - but why not?

The problem is and people need to realize is Flores was not going to sign a new contract with us when he came here i remember in his first few interviews he said it was only for a year or 2 and then he will move on
he was only going to play this last year with us and then move on on a free but the club decided to make a profit instead which is the right thing to do i would father Flores get us 500 000 and get a new player then just to have him leave on a free at the end of new season
let us get someone new to fall in love with

SVD wrote:Hi Everyone, Not only have the team been training hard over the last 6 weeks we have also been out and about in the community.
As most of you will already know we made an historic trip to Uluru in June as the first A-League team to venture to the Red Centre. Marcos Flores, Eugene Galekovic & Daniel Mullen held clinics in Alice Springs and Ayers Rock with kids from Mititjulu & Docker River Although we were delayed by bad weather we eventually got there after a 5 hour bus trip, everyone was excited to see us as much as we were excited to finally get there. Thanks to Football In Central Australia for their assistance and organisation with the trip and we look forward to our next visit.
Fabian Barbiero, Iain Ramsay & Bradley Norton were all at Westfield Marion Shopping Centre to raise funds for Can Do 4 Kids. The boys showed off their juggling skills & had photo opportunities with their fans whilst collecting donations for the Kids.
We have also been out to visit schools and braved the wet conditions outdoors as well as having a chat to the students with classroom session. If you would like to have us visit your school let your teacher know and they can download the form or fill out the application on line.
A few of the boys have also been out to visit local clubs with a question & answer session with all the kids including giveaways, photos & signing session. With another 13 visits schedule we are looking forward to catching up with the clubs and seeing the up & coming talent that we have in Adelaide.
Other events the Reds have been out to are SAPSSASA Carnival, visiting the kids in the Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics, Men’s Health Week & Youth Central 64. We will be having 2 holiday clinics in July, the Reds are looking forward to seeing you all out there. We will be coaching the kids and then catching up with you all for a photo & signing session afterwards. Make sure you enrol early as places are limited. You can download the form via our website.
The Reds will now be enjoying a weeks rest and back on board for training on 11th July. Go the Reds,

If they do open up every stand I know you won't be able to park in the Entertainment centre on that day. but if its just the one stand parking won't be an issue. That's why I was asking.

I would say that all 4 stands will be open. I reckon lots of Melbourne supporters will want to make the trip and as its so close to the opening of the season I think local interest will also be high. I'm sure we'll know closer to the date anyway. General, that Sergio quote makes it sound like he's being groomed as captain and spokesman. Very surprised to see Johnny Mav's name linked to the Reds. Guess his days of playing Premier League may have ended, I'm sure some Super League mob will snatch him up now. :( Edited by redcup: 1/7/2011 03:47:56 PM

North Adelaide is a SANFL ( South Australian National Football League ) club and not an AFL club. Some of the guys that became the owners of United are on the board of NAFC, some in very high positions. My theory is that both United and North Adelaide's main colour is red and United has access to many more markets than NAFC, giving the business men involved a larger population to export/sell their brand. Sorry, I am actually trying to learn more and not have a dig at the club. Newcastle jets will face similar issues when/if they link up with the knights.
Do you guys know if AUFC and North Adelaide share the same administrative staff? Or work out of the same building? etc etc?

I suppose the venues are about 11k apart. I didn't think you were having a dig. Also the SANFL hate the AFL, and as the refurbishment of Adelaide oval was mainly driven by the AFL United will not be playing there this year, which is great as Adelaide oval is shit for football.

There was some talk that the admin may end up being one and the same for both clubs, but at the moment, it doesn't seem to have happened yet.

So there is no risk of even one cent of income from AUFC, for example $500,000 in a player transfer fee, ending up in going across to North Adelaide?? As crazy as that sounds??
I have just heard a few people talking about it and was curious to find out more about the actual relationship

I have just heard a few people talking about it and was curious to find out more about the actual relationship well we do not have one main owner we have a group who own out club so the money going across to north Adelaide is prob impossible unless they all get together and say hey we we got this money lets give 100 000 to north Adelaide which should not happen and hopefully it does not but i guess as long as Adelaide united keep in profit and we keep feting money to buy players and are successful then you cant really complain owners did say the 500 000 was going towards scouting and getting a new player though the thing is though the Adelaide united owners do not own north Adelaide they are just on the board the sanfl own it

The other thing is that the SANFL own NAFC not the owners of AUFC. Our owners are part of the board of NAFC only, the losses of AUFC directly impact on the our owners - any loses incurred by NAFC do not. They have zero financial incentive to channel funds from AUFC to NAFC, if anything it is the other way around.

It was interesting to read that Griffen was and is against us fielding a Super League team because he thinks (and it has) it will impact on our relationship with the state clubs. I understand the FFA's mandating the all year round play for our youth players as they need it for proper development.

In other news, Coopers will continue sponsoring the Reds next season, as their logo sits proudly next to Stratco and Erreà on the season ticket brochure. http://www.a-league.com.au/site/_content/document/00002286-source.pdf

My wallet is ready, willing and able
I also hope it runs more smoothly than last season's debacle
Id also dearly love to move seats, wanted to last year but boy was it stressful. Made worse by the fact that i have always had my ticket with my dad and my uncle in the gold seats and last year my sister joined too so finding 4 seats together when we try and move may be nigh on impossible unfortunately.

Been thinking(never a good thing)and realised we have lost the ENTIRE midfield from last season.
Reid, Hughes, Dodd, Pantelis, Flores That's pretty huge!!!
As far as I can think re our current list this is how I see it
................Eugene
Delevski...Mullen..Boogard.....Cassio
...............Usucar
Slory..........................Ramsay
..............Caravella
........Djite.........Van dijk
Bench : Barbiero, Watson, some kids
Not a bad basis for a team but we really need strengthening all over the park don't we.
Not sure how we will line up this season but I cant see us playing the same formation as the last few years purely because of the 2 strikers we have both being fairly central type players.

We should see another 4 players into the team and Griffen has given Rini the go ahead to offer up to the $1million 3 year package on a new marquee to replace Flores.

The club doesn't want to do it, the local clubs don't want it. Surely there must be another way to achieve the aim of more games for youngsters. It will really further the gap between 'new' and 'old'. I think it will be poison for the club. Hard to expect someone to come and cheer the Reds if their local team which they have been part of all their life is thumped by the Reds Reserves in the Super League. Butt out FFA and FFSA
