Two steps forward, one step back. I found out about tickets, prices via Facebook - which is pathetic on any level. Entry only through Holden st and no reserved seating. But TBF the whole shebang is such short notice that the club probably did their best in the circumstance. What pisses me off though is that this Indo mob got better treatment than us loyal fans. Writing a decent email, ading pics, logos, etc, templating it then having it checked by other staff does take a little while. The decision to do it probably takes at least as long. Waiting for details of the match probably took some time.
All that said, and being pretty understanding, if someone had decided on Monday morning that it needed to happen it could have been with us by afternoon. Even better if it had happened last week. Even now would be ok but with two days to go people's plans for Thursday are probably already in place. If the United game isn't the plan then we've lost them by now.
A direct email from Kossie or Glen Elliot with the minimum of details but a genuine request for everyone to turn out on Thursday would have been taken notice of. The difference it makes when people feel like they're important to the club is amazing. I'm not wanting to be too critical but it just sems we miss too many open doors that lead to fans feeling valued. Football is more than a business.

You always manage to express things slightly more diplomatically than I do but thsi is what I meant. Though an email to the fans/members didn't need to be prettied up too much Id rather have just a simple email with club logo on it than the silence we too often receive

Edited by redcup: 14/2/2012 04:16:21 PM I can feel the heat from here, redcup! :) As for me, I don't understand the anger towards the team we're playing. They've been shafted and we've been shafted by federations that care more about money and politics than football and fans. The players and coaches that come to play here on Thursday are simply footballers trying to win a game. Coming from Papua to Adelaide will be as big a game as some of them have ever played probably. I don't begrudge them being treated well or wanting to play international football. I do think the whole Indonesian situation has ben incredibly badly handled by the authorities (and competing Indo owners) and both clubs are sufering as a result. Why we bear the costs is beyond me but that's the price of international comps. But I hope we smash them too. In the nicest possible way! Edited by Jessesdad: 14/2/2012 04:34:19 PM

RedTillDead wrote: There are a number of off-the shelf cheapo Customer Relationship Management options out there that could be used to achieve this. I know we receive a weekly update but all that is a content scrape of stories from the web. Nothing unique. Hell it wouldn't cost that much to hire a casual temp or a bloody uni student to come in a 1 day a week and keep a spreadsheet or simple DB up to date and smash out some comms.
Jesus even if all the regular Reds forumite's collectively worked together on something like this I reckon we could come up with something??? Maybe being a bit forward here??
As a web developer for a large law firm who has done a fair bit of public facing work, I've mulled over offering my services for free to the club; an hour or two a night, and the odd weekend would all that would be required to improve their current systems of communication considerably. The reason it probably takes so long to get communications out is if they are using a contractor, the contractor will charge a package rate for basic communications, but if you want a rush job (i.e. a unique publication sent out asap) they will charge exhorbinant amounts for it - it's pretty standard practice. There seems to be the odd fan site around for the reds, but they don't seem that active, meaning more fragmentation in the unofficial communication mediums :( I reckon improving the official source of info and communication will contribute considerably more than another unofficial fan offering.

To be fair on the club, this situation we're in now has been rushed through pretty quickly, hence only the West/North/South ends being open, the straight $15 tickets, and unreserved seating. I receive all the weekly updates, and have done so for the last 5 years or so. If you don't, you can always add your details here. The problem I find is that there is hardly any news of note on the official website to begin with. We find out news from Val's articles days in advance. If not Val, then TWG/Sportal/FoxSports combined get the news out faster. If there's limited club news, I understand why the weekly email is so bland. Meanwhile, on the topic of Persipura, I admit I chortled when I read about all their visa problems.

Glenn Elliot spoke very highly of Clive at the informal members meeting late last year. But no, I will not vote him as an Australian Trust thing...

I just hope our owners don't put in their 2 cents worth ever when it comes to local politics then I guess they are nowhere near as influential so there would be no point Best keep their glowing support and admiration away from the club if you ask me

Apparently this hole thing is going to court if we loose so even if adelaide united do loose can still qualify if they take it to court with fifa. Is what galekovic was saying in a press conference today so the hole thing is really a farce i just hope we win get into the acl and it is all ended and we can concentrate on the acl then.

There goes the chance to setup AUFC on the brickworks site. I wasn't aware it had been sold. I wonder what other options are out there?

I don't think Brickworks was really in the running for a possible AU commercial site anyway. Thebarton oval.....now we're talking. Heaps of room and the possibility of co-tenenting with other sporting/social clubs. That would be my preference.

Two things I really enjoyed about tonight: 1 - Barbs got subbed for being a liability 2 - Watson got subbed to bring on a striker when chasing the game

I am always much happier to see two DMs on the pitch - it allows the forward players to concentrate on attacking and not defending.

The formation we played last night will suit us a lot better in the ACL. Just been such a disappointing season. Can really see some promise with the team and similar to a couple of years ago when we finished last, a couple of key personnel changes could have us really firing. Whether that will happen or not is another thing.

Ironic that 2 DM results in more attacking plays. Our defense is still vulnerable and the extra cover is def needed! For me a first half highlight was when Pancho won the ball with a very Pancho tackle, with Malik right there to receive and distribute. So happy to see Pancho back on deck!
Still need some new personnel as you say mcjules, money is key of course, hopefully our finances are helped (not hurt) by the ACL, and hopefully the rini situation resolves ok (cheaply) [-o<

Poor sportsmanship from Adelaide. Jamieson was face down on the deck and your players played on. After Sydney played it out a few minutes prior when one of the AU players was down I expected Adelaide to do the same in Jamo's case.
