RU, your voice and all the other AU fans on here are exactly what I'll be amplifying. I need another commitment like I need a hole in the head but I think the club is doing a good thing with this committee idea and we need to feed in what fans really think. I can chat to a few people at the game and maybe we can organise a couple of fans forums/events (maybe!) but regular comments from Reds fans on 442 and WATR will make the job of 'representing' the fans a lot easier.
It's the best club in the country but we can make it even better!

What's with this latest dummy spit by Aurelio Vidmar? Claiming that he is being wiped from the record books at AU, with his photo being taken down, etc?

I find this a bit hard to believe...can't see any reason for it if it's true.....

+1. If it is true it ranks up there with Adelaide City not acknowledging Alex Tobin when he retired.

Was something about it on the news last night. Probably not as bad as it's been made out to be.

I heard him say this on Channel 10 news last night. I think there may have been a story in today's 'Tiser, too (but not sure, because I don't buy it anymore!)

I'm sure there must be some logical explanation for it!:)

Well aparently they have taken down all photo's and records from United's Offices - Confirmed on 9/7 after a similar artical on the 28 March so I wasnt very happy with them in the first place cause we do have alot of history in our short existance that we needed to keep but to dump his name from our club champion award is a disgrace. He is still our inurgral captain, he represented this state and his country and would be up there with one of the best players we have had come out of this state.

Fuming!

What I found super weird about it was that one of the first things that Griffin said was that the history of the club needed to be be kept better and celebrated. It seems completely out of step to be saying that and then hiding a big part of our history. Hopefully it is actually because they are going to be bringing it all together in a more accessible place than the administrative area of the club... like maybe a club room!

Also congratulations Steve on being accepted into the membership committee! We will bend your ear as much as we can :)

True, but I actually prefer it to not be linked to a specific player - or if it is going to be then I would prefer it to be the Cassio club champion award as he is by far and away the closest we have to that lofty title.

First pre-season session back today. Good to see Dilevski and Caravella in red. Key points:

- Caravella and Slory did light running and didn't participate in the group drills.
- Luciano Trani and Michael Valkanis were the assistant coaches on the pitch with Rini.
- Rini wants 3-4 more players; at least one more defender and midfielder.
- Will do 6 weeks of training, 2 weeks off, 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off, then the lead into the season.
- For the first section of training, there won't be any set gameplay scenarios to practice as it's all about getting the players used to training again and getting the fitness back up.
- Rini will tinker with formations later on.
- Captain has not been decided and won't be decided on until later.
- A few younger players joined the training squad today - not sure if they are NYL members or not.
- Dilevski says that he has "matured" as a footballer since his move away from the A-League, and subsequent return. Also says he's been keeping tabs on the league for the last three years and is impressed at the improvement he has seen. Still has aims to play overseas and with the national team, but feels its the right time to come back to play in Australia.
- Training kit is still the old Reebok one, so no news on the Errea ones yet.

Who would any of you guys pick as captain?

A year ago I'd have said Eugene or Reid(ha!!!)

I honestly want Cassio to captain our club until he retires personally

He loves the club and never has a bad game. he really is a class above the rest.

I would go so far as to say possibly the best import in the 6 years of the league. As far as consistency goes can anyone really argue that?

PS does anyone know what has happened to Reid?

Cassio would definitely be my choice for captain. Always puts in 100% for the shirt.

I was ready to write my case against Cassio being captain, but really, who else is there? Cassio would be the most deserving.

Cassio is number 6. It's the captain's number. Who else? I think he'd be a great captain. Let's face it, Travis (despite being a great AU player) is not a hard act to follow in the armband.
