I don't know the details, SS. With the finances the way they are I doubt there will be cheaper tickets. I sit in the new 'blue' area with my family so I'm hoping the change won't be much change. Mind you, I still think the eastern stand is the best place to be. Except when it rains!

As long as they keep it unreserved Im happy about that. Sounds to me particular the Western Stand and Eastern Stand they want to try and keep family friendly, The north and south ends for active supporters (home and away).

Either way your right why go broke I want to see the club here for the next 30 plus years not for the next few.

And yes I will becomming a member as well as season ticket holder too.

I should be as well, I had already put my season ticket into my budget and I will hopefully be able to make the stretch to true membership as well :D

BTW are we going down the Seattle Sounders/FC Barcelona model whereby the General Manager of CEO is on a fixed term (say 4 years) and that if members think he/she is doing a crap job we can fire them via a vote?

Let's take a step at a time, guys.
Thanks for all the feedback so far. That';s what this process is all about.
Can't see us hiring and firing like Barca just yet but I do see us having a voice in a real way for the first time. The big test will be for those who ate not die-hards like us to see whether they stomach the changes happily for the good of the club. It's going to be a delicate PR balance but with the fans on-board I can see us making AU into the club everyone else wants to be.
If we aren't already!! \:d/  ;)

My money for the membership/season ticket combo is locked away ready for the club to send me details on payment.

I agree that as long as both the Blue and Red areas remain unreserved, we will continue to see decent attendances.

While it'd be nice, I really don't care if United make a profit.
I want them to win the toilet seat GODDAMIT! & go to Asia again - doesn't look too promising at this stage as I'm looking with trepidation at both Melbourne teams re-cruitment.

I want United to sign Madaschi and re-sign Flores - the wait is causing me to lose way too much sleep!

How can you say you don't care if the club doesn't make a profit? It's not sustainable if the club is in the red.

I share your sentiments regarding winning stuff and going to Asia again, but if we're not making money, what's the point?

I don't really care how much the Melbourne teams enjoy comparing their endowments right now, and to be honest, our squad isn't that bad and actually has a decent chance (as has any other A-League club, actually) of being up there at the end of the season.

And for goodness sake, we have another 4 months before the season kicks off, so there's absolutely no need to get your knickers in a knot. Flores will sign when he signs. If he doesn't then that's his decision, and we'll make do without him. That's football.

thanks for the updates, in light of the media dept being on a FFA sponsored jolly to Mexico, it is much appreciated:) cheers I have my ST & membership money saved and ready to go as it seems do many others. mid July sounds about right I guess. gives the club 2 months to get the packs mailed out:) I'm so hanging out for the new season...that 90% lock on the away trip to Perth for rd1 is inching closer to a 95% with each passing day. the u/17 World Cup is nice, but it aint the Reds doing battle on the home front!

You're quite correct of course, but I can't help the emotional feeling that inaction is causing.
Yes it is nearly four months to K.O but it is such a short season and pre-season games by our competitors and finalizing competant squads by them just makes me nervous.

( unfortunately this forum hasn't got a designated " tongue in cheek " colour )

So fellow Reds, it's been a long time coming but the 'official' fans committee finally met with Matt Rossi for the first time last night. A range of things were discussed, some of which I can tell you about and some of which I can't - yet.

At this point it's fair to say that (as you've probably figured out!) things are moving pretty slowly at the club and that big news is hard to come by. The over-riding factor in all things is that money is tight this year with the club really working to make sure that it's viable this season - and for many more. The owners and the new regime are, without doubt, absolutely focused on making sure that Adelaide United survives longterm.

So, what little bits of news can I tell you?
1. There will be three levels of seating at Hindmarsh this year. Red will now be the north and south ends and the eastern stand will be 'blue' seating. Still unreserved. And gold for the young and rich!
2. The club is working with the Red Army to ensure that 'active' support is catered for as well as possible.
3. Ticket prices are going to be pretty stable I'm told. The big difference will be that we will now be able to buy a season ticket without membership.
4. Membership will be a separate option and the club plans to allow members voting rights on a 'members board' of some sort. Ideas are not finalised yet but the whole idea is to get members more involved than before in talking about the direction of the club. It's part of really positive push to make sure that more fans are part of what goes on. My feeling is that the new ownership really wants AU to be accessible.
5. The final design for the jersey for this season is still not formalized but a few options are being made up as we speak and we should see the final decision within a month.
6. Our media man is in Mexico, asked by the FFA to go and help cover the U17 World Cup. Nice gig, eh? But that means AU isn't really present in the press at the moment, hence the sometimes unconfirmed reports of trial matches that we're hearing. The full pre-season trial game roster is still a work-in-progress.

That's about it folks. There's more but it'll come out soon. The first meeting was pretty much a 'getting to know you' session with a report on where things are. You can be assured that we asked some fairly pointed question and that Matt did his best to answer. The reality is that a lot of stuff is simply not finalised or decided at this stage. And of course they're not going to tell us everything we want to know. It's a business too.

What is clear is that the Reds are walking the fine line of trying to run a successful club while trying to be financially responsible. It's not about saving money. It's about being sensible and ensuring that we are here in ten years. There may be decisions that some fans will be annoyed about but - in my humble opinion - this is going to be a year to hang tough with the club as it gets the money stuff sorted.

There's a great chance that we're going to be highly competitive on the field but that's going to depend on making sure we don't go broke.

I left the meeting feeling very up about the Reds again.

Feel free to leave comments here that I can take to the next meeting. But keep them short and (relatively) realistic. The club has started to make sure that the fans have a voice - let's use it well.

I think the "Blue" seating section is a great idea. The eastern stand always fills up but this will give an incentive for supporters to sit at the goal ends. It allows the club to make more money where appropriate but without ripping off the fans.

Any updates on a major sponsor? I'm sure someone mentioned it. Will we get Coopers again? My thoughts are that the club should be looking at a sponsorship deal of around $2million per season. Lofty, I know, but realistic as Adelaide United is one of the shining lights in the A-League.

Thanks for the update. The fans committee is a great initiative!

I don't understand why everyone is so down about our chances. We already have a kick arse squad with only a few tweaks required if that! In my opinion, we have one of the most well balanced squads in the A-League from defence to attack. Rini is getting his first pre-season at the club and players like Ramsay (with a pre-season with Rini under his belt) are primed for a big year. We have the golden boot winner, the Johnny Warren medallist and all-round a bloody good squad! And don't forget about Andy Slory. I've heard from insiders that his pre-season has been going very, very well!

Disagree with you there, if anything the entire North End needs to be General Admission. You will find that the Supporter bay is always only half full because people just buy the general admission tickets. If we want large numbers behind the goals, we need to open it up to everyone. There are enough problems with people buying home support tickets and not partaking in active support so I don't see how that could be an issue.

Does this mean that Weslo will treat north end and south end supporters differently to a blue member and a gold member? I know their is spectator code of conduct and behaviour but seriously speaking you can't expect the north and south end to be family friendly and if I took first timers I would tell them to get a ticket in the eastern stand or become blue members.

either way my money is locked away as well as the Perth trip. I was expecting $300 for a gold member. I just hope we can get chance going in the Western Stand. I hate sitting their looking like an idiot trying to get chants going.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, what I mean is I don't want there to be both Home End tickets and General Admission tickets. It should be either one or the other - my preference is for the Home End to be entirely reserved as active support and for the club to market it as active support - in other words if you are in the home End you are expecting to have people standing and all the other bits and pieces that go along with active support.

Might as well find out how many seats are in the North end, give it to the Red army to market, promote and sell off then if we want that whole stand active support.

Noticed no mention of the Friday Night Shout tickets. I would be disappointed to see that go. I have a couple of friends that are planning on signing up for memberships this season that were introduced to the reds through these tickets. I'm sure they're not the only ones!

Hmm, didn't even think of that... FNS are a must - the only way they could logically be stopped is if we had 14,000 members.

Everyone who has gone with me on a FNS has gone to at least one other game during the season. My neighbours son is going tobe a ticketed member this season as a result of FNS, and I have a good mate who may also. My dad may also become a member, have given him the schedule of games and am going to start dropping a few more hints - along the lines of: Do you want to get a membership and come to the games with me this season?

Please remember that the Friday night shout offer were done when the FFA controlled the club. Maybe the new owners have different initiatives and ticket options in mind.

Im actually interested in the membership side of things and how my and other supporters who become United members how our voice will be heard.

Hey RU, where'd you get that ticket info?
Im pretty tired but I can't seem to find it on the United website and I havent received any emails from them.

Direct from the Ticketek membership portal which I bookmarked last year. :p They haven't updated any other details other than that table there. No dates or deadlines mentioned yet.
