Quote:Allan Welsh (Adelaide United) My question answered. Was a typo all along. Who is this kid anyway? Is he actually signed to the senior squad? Quote:Phillip O'Keefe (Borroloola) Glad to see he could make it. Is Tony Vidmar now employed in a dual role with SASI and AUFC? Also, anyone know if Teeboy Kamara was considered for the squad? EDIT: It seems Kamara is the only SA Joey not in this squad... Edited by Tom AUFC: 18/7/2011 08:11:27 PM

Welsh has been training with the senior squad since the beginning of pre-season.
Shame that Teeboy isn't in the squad. I wonder if it's because he's been snapped up by another A-League club - that would make sense.

Seems there might be some substance to McKain signing.

Really hope this McKain rumour is true. Would be a fantastic pick up. ------------Galekovic------------- Dilevski--Mullen--McKain--Cassio -------Usucar-----Caravella------- --Slory------------------Vidosic-- ------------------Djite----------- ---------Van Dijk-----------------

Boogaard, Barbiero, Ramsay, Watson, Malik, Birighitti. Would personally like to see Boogaard at CB, Mullen at right back and Dilevski in at holding midfield. To think we've still got more signings to come (Levchenko? - where would/could be put him?) plus Melling and Izzo to link up with the squad in January!

I dunno wether Rini is keen on that or will stick to the traditional dutch 433. Though if the Levchenko deal comes through then we will have plenty of mids to play a 433 though i can't see both Bruce and Serge playing in a 433 and it being really effective.

If Val's correct Birra is off to Deutschland, so Izzo will just take his place in the NYL and the bench. I think Usucar's got too much mongrel to be threatened as a starter, but Slory will need to be 100% fit, which is good to see. I'm excited by this year's team and can't wait to see them in action

Ah, it's good to have selection headaches again. It's been so long, that I can't even remember when we could fill every position comfortably.

Still gotta find a quality understudy for Cassio. Or is Norton the man to stand up? We've definitely got away with murder not having much depth in that area - very lucky that Cassio has such a good injury record... *fingers crossed*

Teeboy only just turned 15 lads, I don't think it would be all that appropriate to give him a spot in an under 18 side when there are other older kids about. Anyways he will only be signed up to a NYL team and he can't join anyone until January next year at the earliest (maybe later - I thought he had only just joined the AIS...)

Man, what a squad we are building
Funny how this one CB signing has put my mind so much more at ease
Hopefully all this competition for places is greeted healthily by these squad members
Not sure Dodd and Pantelis etc took too well to it at the end of last year
though i do think the timing of dropping conflakes for bodrusic and hughes/reid for usucar etc was a little wrong
anyways, onward and upwards
man Im excited for the season

I agree Davide, adding just a single CB makes me so much more comfortable with the squad - and I think Pants took the competition for places like a total professional, unlike certain other former players.

Dodd was clearly unhappy at the prospect of not being a starting player. I did not want the club paying him his asking price AND being forced to start him every week because of an old boys club! Good riddance I say! Pants took the competition from Ramsay very well.

man Im excited for the season Have I missed something? I write this @ 15.40 and I can't see anything about a new CB. Sure the rumour via Foxsports twitter is that McKain is going to be an United player. But as yet nothing official, and I'm an old cynic that will only believe it when I see a picture of him holding the AU strip. Of course I'd love it to betrue! [-o< Oops! just read Val's article, so it seems we do have reason to celebrate #-o  Edited by redcup: 19/7/2011 05:08:17 PM

Quote:Who is this man? Tuesday, 26 July 2011 No he did not lose a bet and no, it is not time for the World’s Greatest Shave, but one of the Reds’ stars well known for his head of hair has decided to take it all off. Unbeknown to not only his team mates but also his wife, midfielder Zenon Caravella took to his hair with the clippers, but it was not just for a trim. The former Gold Coast United playmaker, who first entered the Hyundai A-League in 2005/06 with the now defunct New Zealand Knights, became highly recognisable among football fans for his dark locks. But now for the first time in his life, the 28 year old has done what some, particularly men who are battling hair loss, would arguably consider inconceivable. Caravella insisted there was no underlying reason behind his decision to cut off his locks, but he admits to feeling ‘liberated’ by the fresh start. “I was sick of having long hair and my wife said she wanted a new man so here I am,” Caravella joked on his new look. “She was really upset and I’m in the doghouse at the moment. She was shocked but I’m growing it back and they say there is only two weeks between a bad and a good haircut.” “It’s a fresh start, plus the skin on my head hasn’t seen the sun for 28 years so I thought it’s time to tan up.” Having endured a disrupted start to the pre season due to groin soreness, Caravella is now back training with the main squad and maybe his new look has something to do about his fresh start with the Reds following his move from the Gold Coast at the end of last season. http://www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=40424

Great to see some Pirates in there! Having watched these 2 lads down at Pirate Park they are some quality players. In fact there's a couple there that I definitely think would be well worth a regular gig with the Reds in years to come. Good to see such talent at the local level.

it is a shame i thought he looked good in the reserve matches i saw would always look dangerous but i guess it was up to AUFC i just thought maby he could of been the back up striker come on with 10-15 mins left each match ? but i guess we have Ramsey who could do that now still it is a shame hopefully we see him back in a few years.

Anyone on here received their season ticket pack? Paid for mine the day they were available. Also anything else on the Membership front? Would've thought there would have been something out by now.
