Just a random question: Anyone have any idea how many season tickets and memberships the club have sold so far?

Season tickets no, memberships if the list was an indication when I got my tickets on Monday are probably between 500 & 1,000 - not bad for the first year.

Thought I might throw this on here: Quote:Birighitti and Mullen named in Olyroos squadThursday, 8 September 2011 Goalkeeper Mark Birighitti and defender Daniel Mullen have been included in the Qantas Under 23’s squad for the upcoming Olympic qualifier against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 21. Birighitti and Mullen’s selection for the 2012 London Olympic Games Men’s Football tournament Asian Qualifier is set to reconnect them with former Reds boss and current Qantas Under 23’s Coach Aurelio Vidmar. As well as being under the guidance of Vidmar, another bonus for the Reds duo is that they will not need to travel far to join the camp with the match to be played in their own backyard of Hindmarsh Stadium. The 18 player squad was selected solely from the ranks of the Hyundai A-League with 13 members who were part of the squad that defeated Yemen 7-0 on aggregate over two legs in the second round of qualifying back in June. Mullen is one of five players coming into the squad for the first time for the current campaign. Mullen’s last Australian representative appearance came back in September last year against Kuwait in a four nations tournament, while Birighitti was an integral member of the Qantas Young Socceroos squad at the recent FIFA U-20 World Cup in Columbia. Vidmar knows that the opening match against the UAE will set scene for the rest of the qualification campaign. “Under this competition format, it is very important to get off to a positive start, especially when playing at home,” said Vidmar. “We will have a good ten days preparation in the lead up to the match which will include a training match against a South Australian select team. “With all the squad currently in pre-season with their clubs, we are going to have to work hard to ensure that we are match fit by game time. “But I am confident that the players that have been selected will be up to the challenge and they will be ready for the campaign ahead,” concluded Vidmar. The kick-off time for the match has been amended to 8:00pm ACST and will be broadcast live and exclusive on Fox Sports. The Qantas Australian Under 23’s have been drawn alongside Iraq, Uzbekistan, and UAE in Group B of the third round of the Asian Qualifiers for the London 2012 Olympic Games men’s football tournament. Asia are allotted 3.5 slots for the London 2012 Olympic Gamers men’s football tournament. The winner of each group from the third round will automatically progress to next year’s Olympic Games. The Qantas Australian Under 23’s will assemble in Adelaide on Monday 12 September and will play a friendly match against a South Australian select team at 7pm on Wednesday 14 September at Hindmarsh Stadium with free entry for local fans. Quote:Encouraging signs for Reds in opening hit outFriday, 9 September 2011 Adelaide United FC has been held to a scoreless draw by Gold Coast United in its first pre season match against a Hyundai A-League opponent ahead of season seven. They may not have managed to find the back of the net but the early signs for the new look Reds of 2011/12 were encouraging as they controlled much of the contest and showed patches of the ‘total football’ that Coach Rini Coolen is hoping to execute. Coming up against his former side, Reds midfielder Zenon Caravella was instrumental in midfield, while Gold Coast keeper Glen Moss was arguably the busiest player on the pitch as time and again he repelled attacks and frustrated the home side. In a dominant first half display from Adelaide United, Dutchman Andy Slory hit the post within the opening five minutes before the Reds’ Ukrainian signing Evgeniy Levchenko found himself with time and space in the penalty area but watched his shot fly straight at Moss. Gold Coast were having difficulty maintaining possession and finding an avenue through the Reds’ defence, although Daniel Mullen was needed to diffuse the visitors’ first foray into Adelaide’s penalty area in the 18th minute as Dylan Macallister was ready to pounce. The combination of Sergio van Dijk and Bruce Djite was proving a handful for the Gold Coast defence and in the 26th minute the former almost had the crowd out of their seats with a thunderous drive from 25 metres that had Moss beaten but not the cross bar. A silky run down the left hand side from Adama Traore on the half hour created an opening but he could not produce a finish to match the build up in a rare highlight for Gold Coast in the opening 45 minutes, Tahj Minniecon also going close as he warmed Eugene Galekovic’s gloves with a long range effort. In a concern for the Reds, Slory, who had been electrifying up in midfield, was forced from the field in the 39th minute with a left leg injury. Djite was then guilty of the miss of the night in the 42nd minute when he failed to beat Moss from eight metres with just the keeper to beat. After the break Djite came agonisingly close again in the 67th minute before the striker made way for young train-on player Evan Kostopoulos with just over 15 minutes remaining. Van Dijk and Iain Ramsay were again denied by Moss and the Gold Coast keeper’s heroics almost allowed his side to take the lead in the 80th minute, Peter Jungschlager sending a curling shot just wide of Galekovic’s far post. Mullen nearly swooped during a goal mouth scramble from a Reds corner to snatch a late winner, but it was not to be as the Reds would have to be content with a nil-all draw. Adelaide United’s next pre season test will be against reigning Hyundai A-League champions Brisbane Roar in Toowoomba on Saturday 17 September. Hopefully Slory's substitution was just cautionary. Sounds like he's had an epic preseason and will be a very valuable player for us, when he plays. Will be interesting to here how we go against Brisbane next week.

So did his injury look serious? He could be our Kewell this season (in more ways than one).

0-0 draw isnt what Id expect in a preseason match - were there many chances? Also, Miron just proved how dumb he is - why make subs in the 88th and 93rd minute of a preseason friendly??? who the hell does that benefit?

We had plenty of chances, hit the woodwork a couple of times, and went one on one with the keeper a couple times too. Credit to Glen Moss though for keeping it 0-0.

As good as Moss is (and I rate him very highly), no goalkeeper is invincible. Our finishing probably has to be better to make sure that our dominance translates to goals, and wins.

Slory was awesome till he went off. He was limping at the end and grabbing his right hammy. Hope it's not bad because hevwas torturing their left back, who is absolute shite by the way.
Everyone looked a bit rusty tbh. However the standouts for me was Lev and Caravella. Lev especially. Even though he's underdone his timing is outstanding. He won some super clean balls and his passing is sublime. Not Flores range but he can really put the ball through nicely. Same for Caravella. He was everywhere. Going to be a hit.
On the downside I think the Bruce and Serge partnership is going to take a while. They were too close together and at one stage in the first half whent for the same ball in the air. Itvwill come though. Harder for Bruce as hevwas the one playing deeper. But ultimately I think itbwill suit his game.
Spade needs to find his place also with Lev if that's going to be the pairing in the middle. At times he looked out of position and his passingvwasv bit astray. Oh and Mckain has a bit of a temper on him. Absolutely clattered their no 17 tobearn his yellow card. Didn't really need to do that so he need to check especially as captain.
It was a good hit up first up. We should have won. I thought GC were atrocious and Miron does some whacky shit with his subs.
Anyway good signs for us.

Anyway good signs for us. AU did sign Da Silva after the super league final didn't they? If so I'd really like him to take Bruce's spot as he's better IMO. I think Serg and him would be a pretty awesome strike pairing.

Can't wait to see how we go against Melbourne.

I thought overall it was very promising. For our first preseason match against A-League opposition we definately looked by far the more dangerous team.
Only thing that was lacking for me was the Bruce and Serg partnership. It wasn't that they played poorly but it seemed Bruce wasn't comfortable in the position he was in, you could see he was just itching badly to move that bit forward.
I thought however that both of them played very well but they weren't linking together consistently. Even though they are in different positions, it kind of reminded me of the problem with the Kennedy + Cahill partnership.
Slory looked excellent while he was on, I was getting quite excited watching him. Here's hoping he doesn't have a bad injury run.
I thought Lev looked clean and intelligent but just a tad rusty, which is fair enough. Dilevski for me looked to be a much better player off the ball than on. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time and not because of luck either. That said he also had quite a fair amount of poor passes but that's something that can be sorted before the season begins.
McKain looked awesome, can't really complain with any way he played, definately looked like a big presence in defense. He was definately getting quite angry at Mebrahtu you could see that his yellow card was just waiting to happen. God knows what did Mebrahtu to piss him off but he was pushing him around while the ref wasn't and even dragging him to the ground a few times. Watson also looked like he has become more comfortable in a defensive position.
Caravella was good and consistent. Usucar looked great for the short time he was on. Mullen was what you'd expect and did well.
It looked like Ramsay has really been training hard also and he seemed a lot more confident, especially in the defending. I always remembered him as pretty much having no hopes of getting the ball back but he showed some good signs and didn't mind going in for a tackle.
Overall even though our finishing was lacking, I was very happy with what I saw and it got me even more pumped for the season.
