Anyone got any suggestions why Ramsay has been on the bench for the past few games and Kostopoulos is starting ahead of him? I don't recall Ramsay doing anything wrong in a game to cause him to get benched. It just seems a bit strange that he can't get a start, yet he's been one of the best players down the left side for us. Kostopoulos is improving and seems like a versatile player but I didn't think Ramsay was any worse. Is his contract up at the end of the season?

I can only speculate
leading up to him being dropped he was having a good run of scoring goals too in the ACL and league

Im the first to admit he is fairly poor when defending and positioning etc when we lose the ball but he is such a weapon going forwards or more to the point his combination with Cassio is one of our most potent weapons for sure.

Wonder if he will end up at WSW next season

Interestingly only 2 days after saying they wouldn't risk Carrusca

Maybe Carrusca pressed his case as he really wants to be on the pitch with Flores? =p~

Also what happened to Jacob Melling? Never hear of him now, I think he and Caravella would've done well last week.

Be good if Carrusca really really worked hard to try and make the talk of the town turn from Flores to him. Wouldn't surprise me.

Someone suggested that Evan cuts inside much more than Ramsay which gives us another dimension and makes us less predictable. To his credit he is getting better with every game and his his positioning was fantastic for those two goals. Hopefully Rambo stays - still one of our best players when he's on top of his game. He needs to take this challenge on, add to his game and work his way back into the starting eleven. We clearly have a lot of depth and this was highlighted by the fact that even Jeronimo was on the bench last night.

The other thing is that Evan gives us a really good presence in the box - other teams still haven't worked out that he is actually a centre forwarded being played on the wing.

The wing players in our current formation compliment each other well.

On the left we have Evan who likes to cut in (being a right footer) and is a presence in the box when we get crosses in from the right. And we have Cassio who tends to play wider and can overlap and put in those crosses.

On the right we have Ferreira who burns many a defender with his pace and naturally prefers to go wide and puts in great crosses and we have Watson who doesn't like to get forward so much and tends to come in more narrow and often plays Ferreira or someone more centrally (usually Dario) in.

Also want to say that Evan was great last night at tracking back and giving Cassio support against the always dangerous Rojas.

Mate said he spoke to Kossie and that he said Ramsey is better off the bench because of his flair and speed so he can use them to his full potential for 15 or so minutes. Thought it would be something like that

A member of WATR's spoke to Ramsay recently and asked him about going back to sydney, he said something along the lines of wanting to stay in adelaide and he is hoping they offer him a contract.

Mabil hat-trick fires Reds

Adelaide United have recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season after completing a stunning two-goal comeback to defeat Newcastle Jets 3-2 in their National Youth League encounter at Burton Park on Saturday.

Newcastle raced to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes following Marko Jesic's penalty and Kale Bradbery's tap-in before Adelaide - sporting a total of seven first-team players - turned the game on its head courtesy of Awer Mabil's superb 13-minute hat-trick.

Mabil struck his first in the 27th minute when he drove a thunderous angled shot into the net before equalising proceedings only three minutes later.

The tricky winger capped off his hat-trick and a remarkable turnaround for the hosts with an identical finish to his first strike.

Adelaide's senior contingent of Jon McKain, Zenon Caravella and Sergio van Dijk were impressive in the win that leapfrogs the Baby Reds above the Jets into fourth spot.

Newcastle took the lead on 10 minutes when Jesic powerfully dispatched a spot-kick after United goalkeeper John Hall had brought down the striker just inside the area.

Caravella lived dangerously when he lingered on the ball deep in defence and paid the price when he was robbed of possession by Jesic.

Jesic struck a shot with venom at Hall, but the gloveman could only parry to the feet of Bradbery, who poked home the visitors' second on 15 minutes.

Stunned by the double blow, Adelaide pressed hard to reduce the deficit and pulled a goal back when McKain slid a pass into the path of Mabil who had cut into the Jets' box.

Mabil had time to settle before driving the ball into the opposite corner.

The 17-year-old was at it again when he met the ball first for a simple tap-in to level proceedings after McKain's long-range shot was fumbled by Newcastle custodian Aleks Vrterski.

Caravella should have given the hosts the lead in the 35th minute after Mabil's clever through ball, but Vrteski did his best to make the veteran second guess himself whether to shoot or round the gloveman.

The former Gold Coast United midfielder delayed and eventually worked his way around Vrteski only for Jets defender Taylor Regan to scurry to the line and block his shot.

The missed opportunity mattered little when the menacing Mabil rounded out his hat-trick on 40 minutes.

Mabil tore through the Jets' back four after streaming down the right wing before again striking the ball into the far corner, giving Vrteski no chance.

Jesic had two opportunities to rescue a point for Newcastle in the second half but neither landed on target.

I wonder what the reason is that United seem to only play for 45 mins, then just sit back as if to say " c'mon score 3 and draw with us "
I was there a few seasons ago when CCM did just that,. and I'm positive the best team we've ever had will end up losers if they do that in the finals.

Why is Boogard still there instead of Golec or McKain? He's good, but he's also a liability.
A red, an own goal or a penalty is always in the background when he's there. It's as inevitable as a weak backpass by Caravella.

Against victory we had a short turn around from playing mariners in what was a very very hot day.

This week we have a 5 day turn around to play wsw, i think this may have had something to do with it as kossie would not want to run them into the ground.

Although there is a difference between playing safe and shutting down completely!

Even in our only 2 losses this year we were actually winning the match but then shut off. We are no where near peaking yet and that is the scary thing
