Technically our junior players can be in addition to the 23 man squad allowing us to sign 3 more players.

I think we really need 2 RBs and LB if we are going to be playing with 4 at the back. I think Bowles, Malik, Watson and anybody else in the squad who can fill in at RB is much better in other positions. Also I would rather us not have to play Golec at LB if Cassio is unavailable. Cassio is going to retire sooner rather than latter so it would be good to have someone already at the club to step up and replace him.

I don't think the club will do it, they are probably using the entire salary cap up with just those 23 players but if they were then it would be Mabil, Elsey and Kamara.

A RB is good although I still think we are a bit thin at both RB and LB.

Only a few clubs have made use of it, generally only SFC and MVFC.

I quite like the updates we are getting from the club via email. This is one thing they seemed to have listened to with the open letter from the start of the year there has been alot more transparency and communication with the fans. Here is the latest pre season update from Michael Valkanis for those that haven't read it: Quote:Last month I gave you an overview on what our pre-season would look like, with a focus on phase one of our three phase pre-season program. As phase one comes to a close, I will provide you with an update on how things went. Our main objective was to work on our aerobic fitness and doing that through playing football. We also worked on our anaerobic and our power endurance, all done with the ball by playing possession games and small sided games. We worked for 5 weeks and the players worked from Monday to Saturday. Pre-season has been different to what the players have been used to in the past. There's a culture change in Australia where the pre-season no longer incorporates isolated running or other forms of cross training to get fit. The focus is purely playing football, and getting specifically conditioned to play football. As a footballer, when you work with the ball at training, you don’t realise how hard you work and I think that’s a bonus. The players have enjoyed this method of pre-season training, as it has allowed them to work on the following 3 things at the same time: Football Conditioning Technique Decision making We tested the players in week 1 to see where they were when we started and we’ve tested them now in week 5 in order to get the data of where they are now. The data has showed us that all players have improved in their conditioning after the first phase of pre-season. The work has been good and we’re very happy with their testing results. The focus of all the training sessions in phase two will continue to work on our football conditioning, while implementing and working on the style of play that we will be taking into the Hyundai A-League season. Phase two will be an 8 week block. Every exercise that we’ll be doing in this phase will be specific to the club philosophy we will be implementing and the way we want our team to be playing in the future. The players will have a short 3 day break before Josep Gombau arrives to take his first training session on Monday. Edited by schultzy: 10/7/2013 05:56:04 PM

I don't know if i would be happy about elrich .......... Jetisoned (pardon the pun) .... By van egmond and obviously didn't cut it with popovic. More of a backward progress not keeping with the league momentum.
Can,t say i am a valkanis fan either but he seems to be relishing the role he has. Looking forward to his next report .

Does any one no what formation we will use is it 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 and how would we lineup? I would go for 3-5-2 But dont no how cassio would play i want him in the lineup
--------------Galekovic ----------Golec-Fyfe-Malik -----------Carrusca-Sanchez -------Ciro---------------Ferreira ------------------Vidosic -----------Jeronimo---Djite
Subs Izzo Mckain Cassio Kamara
reserves Elrich BakerDaish Melling Mabil Bowels Elsay Watson Boggard Hall Munro
the team might be too attacking, I Want Malik in the team And Cassio
Sanchez Carrusca are dm / ciro and Ferriera are wingers Could put djite on bench carrusca up the field and mckain on for djite -------------Galekovic ----------Golec Fyfe Mckain -----------Sanchez--Malik- --------Ciro------------Ferriera ----------Carrusca-Vidosic ----------------Jeronimo

I think Cirio is more likely to play on the left and Ferriera on the right, perhaps also the same with Vidosic and Carrusca. I hope Malik is not planned to be a CB, or a defender of any sort, I think he should be playing as a DM. I am thinking we have Isaias, Malik, Watson and Melling as DM types in the squad and McKain if he is not needed as a CB.
