AUFC & MV gave us a grand final to be proud of, even though Breeze did his best to spoil it. I honestly do not care that we didn't win, I am just full to bursting with pride at the way we went about the task.
UNITED! UNITED! UNITED! I must agree with you, we playesd our hearts out, and i never lost hope we could win. But damn i maded some noise in the pub, especially when only 3 minutes was played, prob wont come on for a few days, or atleast util all the mindless bable is done and can watch the game completly sober

Wouldn't it be a good job though, apart from dealing with the politics? I'll be looking for a new job soon probably. Maybe I should drop Val a line?
I have always been a huge fan of Richie's. Loved him as a player and he always seem straight up. Never one to hide. He's just one more reason a win on Saturday would be very sweet. Nah don't call Val, call the Advertiser and bring them examples of your work! Your blogs have so far been far better reading than Val's 'journalism'.

I found the Waitakere game last year very frustrating... :( But then again, like they say - 90 minutes, 90 emotions.

DANIEL BRETTIG

ADELAIDE United promises there will be no repeat of the infamous sulking that soured their last A-League grand final when they play Melbourne on Saturday.
In 2007, the shame of a 6-0 loss to the Victory was heightened by the postgame bleating that saw captain Ross Aloisi describe the refereeing as a "disgrace" while veteran striker Carl Veart said "three blind mice" could have done a better job officiating.
Then coach John Kosmina, who was to pay for the loss with his job, observed that "the dark forces of the universe had etched that result in concrete before the first whistle had gone".
Combined with Adelaide's 4-0 defeat in Melbourne a fortnight ago to surrender the major semi-final 6-0 on aggregate, United have much bad history to erase through the manner of their attitude and performance.
Mindful of this, coach Aurelio Vidmar plans to address his players on the subject of respecting the occasion.
"We're going to have a chat about all those things tomorrow. I guarantee you there'll be no repeats of 2007," Vidmar said today.
United flew into Melbourne today to prepare for the big day, satisfied his charges were ready to give their best in the final - something the team failed dismally to do both two years and two weeks ago.
"I was a little concerned with that (hype)," Vidmar said. "Two years ago it was really hectic that week, there were a lot of things on, everyone was running around like mad people and trying to get things organised - this week has been really relaxed, not much fanfare.
"Whether that's because we're going into the game as massive underdogs I don't know, but certainly everyone is relaxed, and very happy with how we've led into this week."
There will be few changes to the line-up that scraped past Queensland 1-0 in the preliminary final, with the return of Brazilian winger Cassio the only real selection poser for Vidmar.
Fullback Scott Jamieson soldiered through training this morning - Adelaide's second closed session of the week - and will probably play with the help of an injection, meaning Cassio has to displace one of five midfielders if he is to start.
Vidmar said it was crucial to keep the team's focus on what can be done tactically, and gave short shrift to suggestions there would be any more attempts to rough up the likes of Carlos Hernandez after similar actions were met with stern refereeing in the major semi.
"We're not going to target anyone," Vidmar said.
"All we've got to worry about is doing our job, and doing it very, very well.
"They've beaten us five times so they've got something right, but all the games before the major semi-final were all pretty close.
"Now it's 90 minutes, a one-off game, a grand final and anything can happen - we can't do any worse than last time we were over there."
Maybe Daniel is the new Val? Lets hope.

Ive looked at our losses the only time we were really "beaten" was the two finals (other games were close enough for either team to win) and they were the only timse we were 4-4-2
We dont need to change our formation - just tweak the tactics thats all.

everyone is so unsed to the EPL that anthing that isnt is boring Agreed, I have never really found Adelaide boring, I occasionally find them frustrating but not boring, the style that Adelaide plays wins them games, it has given them success, although I would love to score more goals a 1-0 result can be just as exciting, intense pressure is imo just as good as fast free flowing football. Playing to our strength is the key to this one, against Melbourne we dont seem to do this.
